  1. On both HAL cruises I have been on I have given credit card when booking and then when we board I put down $500 cash for the two of us as hold. Never been a problem and on exiting cruise I go to guest service and check out and recieve any left over cash back. As I prepay for drinks, excursions and casino chips I get all back but auto tip.

  2. I have booked directly with HAL before and paid in full before final payment is due, when I notice a price drop on my cabin type, have called and difference in fare was put back on my credit card in about 10 days. Called after final payment was due and recieved on board credit. I do always book with a HAL travel assistant so that might make a difference.

  3. I have learned alot from this thread..I am going on my second cruise, first for BF..we booked pretty far in advance and have been prepaying for our excursions, drink cards ect. through out the year so we wont have a huge balance at end of the trip.

One thing that i have noticed with the HAL line is you can get the casino chips delivered to your cabin by prepaying in advance. Say $20 a day per person is your casino budget.. this makes it easier to prepay and set a daily limit to the casino.

We both work and have a limited spending budget, so all the buying ahead as we can afford it seems to work for us.
