onboard the ship, the arcade and everything else only accept your sail n sign/room key. you can not use the gift in the arcade machine

Yes you can put a limit on the kids account. Guest services onboard the ship can set this up and they will also add the gift card to your onboard account

Thank you very much.  I was worries about the payment limitation of only accepting S&S, but it sounds like I can do what I am trying to do by setting up limits.

    thanks!

  2. Somewhat of an unrelated question.

I wanted to get both of my kids gift cards to use in the arcade.  Can the gift cards be used without adding them to your sail and sign account and just used to swipe at vendors (arcade in this case)?

Also, for sail and sign, is there a limit I can put on my kids?  I've searched and have seen that there may be a daily limit, but what about a limit for the entire cruise?  I like putting them on a budget so they can try to learn planning.

  3. I think the clarity needs to be in the difference between college spring break and Easter Spring Break (K-12).

This year, these 2 breaks are very close because of how early Easter is.  However, there is no overlap here.

College Spring Break will yearly follow the relative dates in the link provided (early march through late march).

    Easter Break Varies with.....Easter.

The booze cruise concern should come with the college spring break, in my opinion.

The rowdy kids (teens) will happen on the Easter Break Cruises.

The overcrowding will happen on both, but more likely on Easter Break (since families travel more than college kids - on cruises that is).

If you have not cruised yet...

I do not know, but I believe the current info says VIP. $50.00 - $200.

I know that renting an umbrella for the regular pool loungers seems to be $22.00.  So, I would imagine that the $50.00 option is for an umbrella and one or two padded loungers in that VIP section.

Perhaps they also offer packages that include unlimited drinks, etc.???

Here is a current video that shows a sign of all the pricing on rentals, at about the 3:15 min mark.

    Information seems hard to find.

Thank you very much for your reply.

    Can you link the video?

The cabanas at Amber Cove (ocean, poolside, and hillside are all offered) are upwards of $500. It's a little rich for my blood, but many folks book them.

You can get an attendant, poolside, to set an umbrella up for about $20 per day.

I should have clarified that I am not asking about the VIP cabanas. There is a VIP area with just loungers and umbrellas.

any info would be greatly appreciated.

  6. Off topic a bit, but related to Amber Cove.

Does anybody have any information on the VIP area located in the central part of the pool?  There are packages for nicer loungers and umbrellas.  There are also a few in-water loungers i believe.  I've been looking for information on booking details (how to book), and pricing.

    Thanks!

Don’t rent the beach umbrellas that are under the excursions!  We just did that on our November cruise. You have to drag a heavy bag that holds the  umbrella a small shovel and a plastic “pouch” that you have to fill with sand. There is no point at the end of the umbrella pole. It is a lot of work and then at the end of the day you have to pack it up and bring it back to excursion hut. Horrible!

do you have any pictures?  how heavy was it?

  8. Does anybody have any recent information or pricing details for the seated VIP area (not cabanas) that is located in the middle of the pool?

I'm looking for the following details:

    1. Cost.

    2. What's included (umbrella, # of chairs, floats, etc...)

    3. How many people is this for

    4. How to reserve book (only in person or is advance available).

    TIA!

We were at HMC this week off the Dream.

For 6 of us, I rented 3 umbrellas which was about right.

The umbrellas are NOT set  up for you.

We had to ask several confused staff members and wander around some before finding the pick up place at the end of the beach, then had to haul them a long way and dig deep holes to set them up ourselves.

Then we had to take them down and carry them back ourselves before leaving.

It was great to have shade, but a lot of work.  Fortunately we had some strong guys in our party.

People who would find this physically challenging should give this careful consideration.

I am getting 2 umbrellas and I was confused about the pick up location.

When you say you picked them up at "the end of the beach"  are you referring to the part of the beach where tenders come in or are you referring to the part of the beach at, or past, the Pirate ship?

It does say that you can pick up at either the pirate ship water sport location or the front desk.

    TIA

  10. i had a very frustrating experience with this.  I saw it come available in the morning.  It would not let me book.  When I got through payment, it gave me an error.  I called multiple times and they said it wasn't even available.  Of course, the next morning it said sold out.  I always buy FTTF.  Going to keep checking, but very bummed.  I'm always on top of hawking the excursions and never miss it.  I say it at 5:30 am and gave errors all day.  Very upsetting and frustrating.

  11. I am getting ready to print my boarding pass and cruise docs.  How will I be able to get a drink with cheers without my S&S card?  It doesn't mention anywhere on the docs that we have pre-purchased CHEERS.  Do you just give room number?  I would like nothing more than walking on and going right to the atrium bar for a cocktail.

  12. Did they have to implement the CHEERS program?

No, they didn't have to.  It comes down to their analysis that creating such a program would increase revenue and profit.  More than likely, they evaluated the program from a financial risk point.  They, and I, probably see that a program like CHEERS is a cash cow and some, if not most, people do not get their monies worth.  The ones that do offset the ones that don't.  And they are never losing money on alcohol based on their cost.

So, it would be interesting to ask the following: If you were a Carnival financial exec, do you think offering a "Refresh" Package would increase your profit?  Would the average guest pay more if they got this than paying a la carte?

Carnival, or any cruise line for that matter, doesn't have to do anything.

  13. Won't you still be able to pay out of pocket for the buckets of beer and souvenir cups?  I was unaware that carnival will completely forbid you from buying these if you have cheers.  I thought you just had to pay out of pocket.  If that's the case, if the majority of your alcohol consumption is via buckets of beer rather just getting 1 beer at a time, cheers probably wouldn't make sense.  I personally would just get a good server and tell him to refill your beer when done.  Or you could go order 4 beers (waiting 5 mins) in between (10 min total with your wife) and ask for a bucket of ice.

BTW. If you look at the replay of sail away ( March 8 ) on the Port Canaveral webcam, I can be seen about 2 minutes in with my NASA T-shirt waving my stuffed penguin Waddles.

Do you know where the Port Cam is located?  Very Cool!

Also-do you know if the bars have Bud Light Lime?  Another poster answered this for me before, I'm just hoping things maybe changed...

Thanks and great thread!  We sail her in 39 Days!
