  1. Yes, you can transfer your booking.  I booked directly through Viking and then decided that I wanted to use a TA for travel insurance.  I called the TA and gave them my booking information and they handled it from there on out!!

  2. We are cruising on Viking Jupiter in Sept/Oct.  We are planning on doing the ship's excursion "The Scenic Flam Railway".  My sister-in-law has some anxiety issues with heights and is worried that she'll spend the whole time on the Flam Railway with her eyes closed.  Has anyone done this excursion and are there parts of the ride that are extreme?

  3. We're flying in to EZE a few days prior to our cruise. We will arrive about 9:30AM. My current plan is to go to a hotel and get settled, maybe tour some of BA. The next day, fly from AEP to IGR (on the Argentine side) arriving at 1:00pm and go to the falls. There is an earlier flight that arrives at 7:40am but it leaves around 6:30am. Then fly back to BA that same day, leaving IGR at 9:25pm and arriving at AEP at 11:20 pm. Doing it this way, we don't have to check out of our hotel in BA and can hopefully see the falls in one day. Is this a reasonable plan, or do I need to plan for more time at the falls, spending the night there.

I suppose plan B would be to arrive at EZE at 9:25, then transfer to AEP and take a 1:10pm flight to the falls, arriving at 3:00pm. Spend the night there, see the falls the next day, and fly back that same day or the next (thus spending 2 nights at the falls). Is this a better plan ?

We just did the one day trip in January, 2018. We arrived at IGR around 11:20am, departed from AEP at 9:25 onboard Aerolineas Argentina. We got to the falls area around 1pm because the pre-arranged driver forgot to pick us up. There are private guides that will take you around the falls. They are in the ticketing area and you can just walk up and hire them. Our guide, Marcos was great! We hiked around 10K (three main trails) in 3 hours. We did NOT do the boat under the falls. We then walked through the hotel and then our driver took us into town and we grabbed a bite to eat (empanadas) and walked around and then headed to the airport for our flight back at 9:25. We were back at the airport by 6:30pm. We could have easily booked an early flight back to BA.

So it is doable! But it is a lot of walking and some of it uphill! It was hot and tiring and the highlight of our 20 day trip!! We did not feel like we missed out on anything, but we do want to return(with the rest of the family) and spend a night or two.

  4. I'm another Bonine person! Except I take it at bedtime, starting the night before my cruise. It does make me a bit drowsy at first, so I get a great night's sleep and feel great all day. I use it for cruises, amusement parks, small boat rides and ferries, and twisty mountain roads! Works great! I also keep ginger candies handy just in case!!

  5. Hello,

Would anyone have a rough idea of cost of taxi from the port in Venice to Marco Polo airport ?? 4 adults - also are there taxis waiting outside to port when ship docks or would you have to prebook one ?? Thanks in advance x

I just flew home from Venice on Monday. The Venice airport boat from the Fundamente Nouve vaporetto stop to the airport was 15 Euros. I'm not sure if the cruise terminal would be the same price or not. The private water taxis from Venice were over 80 euros. The Venice airport boats run about every 30 minutes. 6. bbyost, We did the Magdelena Island excursion through our cruise line, which also booked through Solo Expediciones. You will be in a speed boat, which I found to be a little like a covered zodiac. There is also ferry service to the island, but it takes quite a bit longer and can be crowded. I have a blog post about our day there including photos of the boat that you might find helpful.

Magdalena Island is a fascinating place, and the Magellanic penguins are just delightful! Just be prepared that the Strait of Magellan can be rough, and the tour could be cancelled if the operators feel it isn't safe for the boats to make the journey.

Thank you Mary! NCL has not posted the Punta Arenas excursions yet for our Feb. 3, 2018 cruise.

If they don't offer it, I will book it independently.

  7. We used Solo Expediciones. We were in Punta Arenas on Christmas day so there were limited options. We were only able to visit Isla Magdalena (which is the highlight of the excursion) because the wind and seas picked up and the captain decided to cancel the planned sail-by of Isla Marta. The penguins on Isla Magdalena are incredible!

Was this a speed boat tour or a regular ferry type boat??

  8. I posted this on the South America board and only heard back from someone that had done the tour through Princess. So I will try on this board: Has anyone taken the speedboat excursion to Magellan Island? If so, did you book it independently and what tour company did you use? I'm only finding reviews of cruise line excursions for the speedboat. I'm sailing on the NCL Sun Feb. 3, 2018 and the excursions for Punta Arenas have not been posted yet, so I'm not even sure if NCL offers the speedboat excursion. Any info would be helpful!!

  10. Thank you to all for the positive stories and offer to look for a substitute. We do have a very similar monkey that we purchased a few years back; however, my son says he doesn't "smell" the same or feel the same. We made it through last night ok though!

Here's an old picture of the boy and his monkey:

Unfortunately, I do not have a monkey like that in my stash! Sorry I couldn't help you out. I hope the cruise line is able to find and return your son's monkey soon!!

  11. Please post a picture of the monkey and the manufacturer! Someone might have one! I was a plush buyer for our local hospital gift shop and have bins of plush that my kids no longer want. If I have your monkey I will gladly send it to you!! My daughter lost her "blankie" as a 20 year old living in Paris and she still talks about it 12 years later! LOL

  12. Hi Everyone, We are sailing on the Epic 11/18-25 and staying in Disney for just one night before sailing. Any suggestions for how to get to Port Canaveral? Best service and cost efficient. As of now, there are 2 families of 4 with luggage and possibly another family of 5 needing this service. Also post-cruise, is there shuttle service to book from the port to MCO? TIA!

We used Cocoa Beach Shuttle in February. We only waited 5-10 minutes for them to pick us up after calling to tell them we had our luggage. They will also pick up from Disney properties. I did notice that they had some vans with trailers to carry the luggage for larger groups. Our driver was very professional and friendly. We came upon a large traffic jam and he quickly changed routes and got us past the backup!! Here is the link: http://www.cbshuttle.com/cocoa-beach-rates.htm

  13. My DH and I were on the Epic for her Transatlantic last year on Oct 30 2016. We started to see menus on different ships via cruise critics have the missing Dover Sole in Le Bistro. We fortunately had the opportunity to eat Dover Sole at the beginning of the cruise, but then the menu changed in the middle of the cruise. :( They no longer had Dover Sole.

Did they ever bring the Dover Sole back? We were never fans of lobster, but gosh we really enjoyed the Dover Sole.

I just had the Dover Sole in Le Bistro two times on our recent Epic cruise!! It was delicious!!

  14. We were also told that Barrachina didn't open until 9am, but our cab driver said someone would be there. And yes, there were a few people working. The doors were opened so we walked in and through to the back. A man immediately came up and showed us where to place our luggage and gave us a ticket for it.

  15. Sorry that I forgot to update when we arrived home! Our group opted to do the early departure from the ship, taking our bags off the ship ourselves. We left our cabin around 7am and we were through customs by 7:20am. 4 of us chose to grab a cab and go straight to Old San Juan and drop our bags at Barrachina. We were dropped off at the front door to Barrachina, checked our bags and we were back out on the street by 7:45am!

The other 12 in our group grabbed one of the two "San Juan Happy Tours" that were waiting at the dock. They loaded up there luggage and we're off about the same time we were. We ran into them later on the streets of Old San Juan after they'd been given a tour of San Juan. They still had time for lunch and some shopping in Old San Juan before the Happy Tour driver returned to take them to the airport. They were quite "happy" with their tour!

  16. There are 16 of us cruising out of SJ this Sat. and we are planning on using Happy Tours again at the end of our Adventure of the Seas Cruise. When we used them in Oct. I contacted them by phone, not by email. They have been in business for over 40 years and were very professional, so I hope they are still operating the tours!!
