  1. Seabourn does offer transportation from Dover to Heathrow and possibly to other airports such as Gatwick. Fare is included in the deal if you buy your plane tickets from Seabourn, or you can buy transportation on board. I forget the cost, but believe it to be around $100 per person to LHR. I doubt they offer transportation to any destination other than airports.

  2. We love crossings too. In addition to the previous suggestions, there are bridge lessons in the morning and duplicate in the afternoon. Usually there’s an artist in residence giving watercolor lessons. And plenty of time to sit on the balcony reading a book or watching for whales.
I recommend against deck 5 for crossings because the glass portion of the railing gets coated with salt spray more than it does on higher decks. More important on crossings than on port intensive cruises.
Also remember that on east bound cruises, you lose 6 hours, and gain 6 west bound.

  3. I think it would be fine if those who desire a coffee maker in their Veranda suite could get one. We, however, prefer not having one. There is precious little flat space for us to use without having some of it occupied by a coffee maker. Also, we think it’s a real luxury to wake up to the delivery of a pot of coffee with a pot of hot milk, plus croissants with butter and jam. A great way to start the day!

  5. Sliming: While we were walking through a well populated pedestrian plaza, near the Quest, someone threw some mayonnaise-like substance on my back. I didn’t even feel it, but a “local” drinking coffee at a sidewalk café, jumped up and said he had seen a bird drop something on me. He was so very kind. He offered...nay insisted that I allow him to take me into a nearby toilet where he would clean me up. I declined, knowing that he really intended to clean me not up but out once he got me in there. I still have a very slight discoloration on the back of my shirt to help me recall fun times in Malaga.

  6. WooHoo!

    cruise date: April 20

cancelled and refund requested: March 30

final refund recieved by bank: June 18

So SB has now refunded 100% of all we paid, including our FCD. And they still seem to be offering a 5% discount on future cruises.

  7. Like Mauzac, we have been refunded $900 Of our deposit for our April 20 TA cruise. It was credited to our cc account yesterday. Seabourn appears to have kept the $1000 portion of our deposit which we had made with a Future Cruise Deposit made during a previous cruise. Let’s hope the balance of our payments will be refunded in the next few days. FYI, we have been waiting patiently and quietly.

  8. I’m not at my computer just now, but try this: go to “Booked Guest.” (Found where there are about three short horizontal lines). Then after logging in, scroll up to My Reservations. (It’s hidden until you scroll up). Then go down to “Manage My Booking”. Then click on the picture on the left, I believe it’s called “Itinerary”. Click on it and you should be able cancel and/or book tours for each day. Also reservations for the TK Grill, etc. Hope this helps.

  9. As I recall, formal night is often the 2nd or 3rd night of the cruise, then again on the next to last night, or the night before. It may depend on where the ship is docked on those days, and when passengers are expected to return from tours, etc. It’s never on the first or last night. Sorry I can’t tell you more specifically.  Maybe someone else has a better fix on it.

  10. We usually take Seabourn's tours and find them to be very good. The buses are seldom more than about 1/2 tp 3/4 full, and the guides are generally fine, although we have had some dullards. They are always well organized with very little waiting. I know this isn't very specific, but your enjoyment is so dependent on your fellow passengers, the weather, etc. In summary, unless you have some reason not to book Seabourn's tours, do it.

  11. Seatrial,

To answer your original question, I usually wear my tux on formal nights. I feel a little more comfortable when I do, but lots of men don’t. So you will not feel out of place either way.

Concerning the welcome bottle of champagne which will be iced down in your suite upon arrival, don’t rush to open it right away. Your stewardess will bring you a glass of champagne also. With all of the commotion on the first afternoon aboard, we drink her offering and save the bottle in the minibar until a more opportune moment. Of course, you can always order another bottle if you “squander” the first. The trick is not how to get enough, it’s how not to get too much.

    Have fun.

  12. No, they will not fill up this far in advance, but the longer you wait, the harder it may be to get a reservation for the night and hour you prefer. We like to go about 6:30, in order to be finished with dinner well before the evening program...which we may or may not attend anyway. We also like to “go with the flow”, but just showing up doesn’t work well at the T.K.Grille, which requires advance reservations, unless you’re lucky.
