  1. I'm at a loss trying to do this. I need to change my password, but none of the information given on cruise critic works. It appears that you have to know your old PW in order to create a new PW, and nothing works. Cruise critic says to input my userID and they'll send you a message email. I do that. I've tried about 10 times and I don't receive the email. Help!

depending on the length of the cruise and the price, although i probably would use the entire ship as my floating hotel and not bother to get off at any of the ports, we've been  to grand stirrup caye 3 times, and the last we didnt bother getting off the ship. there is absolutely nothing i want to see or do on a private island

My Spouse and I usually book cruises which start at 10 day and go up to about 25 days. If someone is taking a 3 or 4 day cruise the private islands my be an option, but I don't know of a cruise line with more than one private island. Would the cruise just circle the private island for 10 days? Obviously not, so the idea makes no sense except for very short cruises.

  4. I'm confused about how the Celebrity "Non-Refundable Fare works. Here's what I don't understand:

Assume that I book a cruise that is Non-refundable for two people.

    My Deposit is $900.

A few weeks later, because of an illness, we need to cancel the cruise.

We're still six months before the normal cruise ship penalty kicks in.

Do we have to pay $200 because of the "Non Refundable"  booking and receive a refund of $700, or do we forfeit the entire $900?

  5. I was looking at some cruise pricing on Celebrity's website last week, and I encountered something that was, in my opinion, very strange. Celebrity is currently offering one free "Go Big" perk with many of their cruises. However, when you get to the screen where you select the Perk, there is nothing that tells you that the Perk is free. There is, however, a little box to check if you don't want the perk. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want a free perk. It's possible that someone wouldn't want the Drink Package or Free Internet, but who can refuse a $300 SBC or Free gratuities? Now it's possible that someone would assume that if they check the box their cruise price would drop, but it doesn't drop. If you check the box or don't check the box, the price remains the same. I would assume that everyone who doesn't select the Perk gives Celebrity an extra $300 profit.

Here's a suggestion for Celebrity: On the Perk selection screen, and a sentence in Bold Capital Letters which reads: "PLEASE SELECT YOUR FREE PERK HERE".

  6. I have considerable trouble with the way that RCL interprets their own stockholder benefit. I'm booked on the Celebrity Eclipse Transatlantic 15 night cruise sailing on April 15. My Cruise Agent gave me a $100 OBC for booking with him. When I applied for the OBC described in the RCL stockholder credit document which states that we can collect a $250 OBC for the cruise, the RCL people told me that since I received an OBC from my Cruise Agent, they subtracted that amount from the $250 credit and gave me an an additional $150. While this is better than nothing, I have to wonder how they can rationalize this action. Anyone who isn't familiar with their policy would have to look for a Crise Agent who has an acceptable quote and in addition, has the LOWEST OBC, which is absurd. While RCL stock is still good stock to own, buying it to obtain a stockholder benefit is no longer a smart decision.

  7. I know the cruise lines are at present still evaluating the situation but I read in a newspaper that someone was trying to cancel a Christmas cruise and they were told they would lose a large percentage of the fare, "Come ON", by Christmas the place might look like a hurricane hadn't even hit as communities can build very quickly.

So I was just saying that if the cruise lines do resume their services to the islands then do something for the communities especially at Christmas, take something for the children, they will love it. You will find it will be one of the best cruisers you have done.

I've visited some Caribbean islands recently where hurricane damage that occurred in 2008 hasn't been repaired yet.

  8. I would think anyone having booked a cruise to the caribbean before the event would be offered the chance to cancel with a full refund.

I would also like to think that if they were to change more than one or two ports they would offer something to those who had booked.

Not a good situation either way.

It would be nice, but I think that if you're within the cruise line penalty period, they have the right to change itineraries. If you aren't yet there, just cancel. We're on the Silhouette on November 26, and I fully expect to be "treated" to some unplanned ports like Costa Maya and Falmouth.

  9. Lots of discussion about Select Dining. We like it, and booked for all 16 nights for a table for two on the Reflection Transatlantic. Since then, Celebrity has changed their website, and I'm trying to do the same thing for our Silhouette cruise in November, and I can't find out how to do it. Can anyone help me with the current procedure?

  10. I still don't know if Celebrity is going to implement a standard for the nightly Elite / Elite Plus Happy Hour. We were on the Equinox last year and there were no vouchers. We were told that the deinks would be loaded on the Sea Pass. We did a transatlantic cruise on the Reflection in April and the vouchers were back.

As with all things, Make sure you have a case (at least in your own mind); Provide all the supporting evidence you have; and don't threaten. You won't always win, but companies do make mistakes, and someone might agree with you if you're reasonable.

  12. It's pretty obvious you're incorrect. Regardless, if they want to exclude most fares, if they want to refuse the shareholder benefit if you have any OBC from any other source, that should be in big, bold print the same size as the supposed benefit, not buried in tiny print. The exclusions are so numerous and broad that there's no point in factoring in the shareholder benefit when considering a cruise.

"any OBC from any other source" isn't a reason for denial. You should be able to get an OBC from your Travel Agent, and still get the Stockholder OBC. That being said, however, they just rejected me, and the reason for rejection was cryptic to the extreme. Michael Bayley is CEO. His email address is mbayley@rccl.com. Carlos Leyva is Chief Guest Experience Officer. His email address is cleyva@rccl.com.

  13. Are you booked on a Future Reflection Cruise? If you are, and you're a current RCI Stockholder, and you know the rules concerning Stockholder onboard credits, I need your help regarding RCI's denial of what I think is a valid claim for onboard credits.

Have you filed a claim for future cruise benefits on the Reflection? I'm interested in finding out whether your claim was accepted or denied, and if it was denied, what was the reason for the denial?

We're booked on the Reflection for the April Transatlantic sailing. We received no onboard credits from RCI for this sailing, and there are no other reasons for the denial that we can discern, but they denied us with this short email:

"Thank you for your email. As a valued shareholder, you are very important to us. The requested shareholder benefit onboard credit cannot be applied to reservation ***4176 as it is confirmed with a Nets price code that is not combinable with the Shareholder Benefit program. Please review our program FAQ's on our website at http://www.rclcorporate.com/investors/shareholder-benefit/"

I don't know what they're talking about, and neither does my Travel Agent, so I'm not ready to give up. If you were denied, and then the decision was reversed, I'd be especially interested in your reply. If you'd rather not post here, my email address is fideauxdon@att.net.

  14. I used to think that I understood the rules regarding when I can use my Royal Caribbean stockholder benefits, but as time goes by, I'm becoming more and more confused. I understand, of course, that you can't stack benefits, meaning that if RCI has a promotion and gives you a $300 shipboard credit, you can't also receive a $250 stockholder shipboard credit, and I realize that I can't claim it if I have a relative employed by the cruise line. I also realize that I should be eligible for the credit if my travel agent, independent of the cruise line gives me an onboard credit. Just to be sure, however, I usually check with the cruise line about two months before we sale, and I send them the paperwork to prove my eligibility for the discount. I did this for a cruise that we're taking in April, and I've run into a brick wall. This is the rejection letter that I received this week:

"Thank you for your email. As a valued shareholder, you are very important to us. The requested shareholder benefit onboard credit cannot be applied to reservation ****176 as it is confirmed with a Nets price code that is not combinable with the Shareholder Benefit program. Please review our program FAQ's on our website at http://www.rclcorporate.com/investors/shareholder-benefit/"

Does anyone know what they're talking about? I don't know, and my Travel Agent doesn't know either. In the last year, I've taken two other Celebrity cruises where Celebrity hasn't given me a discount, and had no trouble receiving verification, in writing, that the discount was appropriate. This time, however, I got rejected. I've contacted the person who rejected my claim, and I asked her to review my claim again, and to refer my claim with her Manager if she still wants to reject me, but no answer yet.

Has anyone had a recent experience like this? I'm interested in hearing from you if you were rejected and managed to overturn the original decision.

  15. I am seriously considering the 14 day transatlantic on the Silhouette, in April. In order to plan the return flight can anybody tell me how far it is (time or miles) from the cruise port to the airport in Amsterdam?

My understanding is that there's a #26 shuttle that you can take from the cruiseport to the Centraal railroad station, and from there, there are six trains per hour that go directly to the airport. If you want to walk to the station, it will take you about 15 minutes.

  16. I can only guess that they would follow the same time slot as Oasis, which should be Sep/Oct of 2015. If booking schedules are the same then Allure booking would open April/May of 2014. I have been following prices for the Oasis TA and they have done nothing but go up since there release date. See you onboard? happy cruising.

I may be wrong, but I believe that the only reason for the Oasis transatlantic schedule is that the ship is undergoing a refurbishment.
