  1. I did the 9/3 sailing by myself, but my DW and DD and I are going on the Empress on January 12th. My daughter is 12 as well, and while she likes the slides and such, she's always happy with the shows, dance classes, and hanging out onboard as well.

I thought there was a fair amount of trivia, with some involving younger people (Disney music trivia, for example). There were quite a few dance classes, especially for latin dancing. The one thing with the kids clubs is generally (didn't check on this ship) the 12yo get thrown in with the teens. My daughter was a bit uncomfortable with the club when it was basically a bunch of 16-17yo boys. But that's going to be the case on all ships for a few years for her.

There's not going to be as many as the bigger ships though. It's a small ship, so that limits some of the things onboard. There's a pool, and a rock-climbing wall, a few ping pong tables, things like that.

We're going to be doing the Fantasy 10/28th for the weekend cruise as well. :)

We are looking to book cruise that leaves October 20th on empress or October 21st on fantasy since there is no school thst Friday. I guess I need to hurry up and decide. I just keep going back and forth. Empress has 4 days instead of 3. Empress has 2 ports instead of 1. But... She has alwsys enjoyed carnival activities and the lively fun feel on their ships.

  2. My lil one is 9 so she is fine in the kids club. From what I have seen your tween may be a bit board in there. They do have age groups but there are so few kids onboard all of them are in same group from what I can tell. I will get more info tonight. They do have trivia and dance classes.

To be honest this cruise is more about relaxation than anything else. No one is in a hurry and things are just really laid back. It could get dry if more than 7 days were to be had.

Thank you so much for the reply. I understand its a smaller ship without all the bells and whistles. I would be fine sitting by the pool reading a book and spending some time at shows and casino. Just concerned about her being bored. Really want her to have a good time too. I think at her age she would be in the teen club. But not sure how that would work with so few kids on board.

  3. Interested to hear how it was for kids. Thinking of booking quick getaway within driving distance for us....we live about 90 minutes north of miami port.

It would be myself and 12 year old daughter. She doesnt care about water slides or rock climbing. But really enjoys trivia, shows and dance class type of activities. Do you think there is enough activities and entertainment available on this ship for tweens?

Trying to decide between empress 4 days or carnival fantasy 3 days. We have cruised 8 or 9 times on carnival and 2 times on Norwegian. This would be our first on royal.

Any advice or opinions on this ship for a tween?

  4. I am thinking of booking this cruise for a quick weekend getaway within driving distance. Will be myself and 12 year old daughter. Just not sure if there will be enough to keep her entertained. She loves going to trivia, shows and dance classes. Doesnt really care about water slides or rock climbing. How is the entertainment and activities on this ship?

Trying to decide between empress 4 day or carnival fantasy 3 day. Any input would be appreciated

  5. Looking at two cruises. Cant decide.

    Breeze... six days

    Falmouth, Jamaica

    Grand Cayman

    Cozumel

    Conquest... five days

    Grand Turk

    Half moon cay

    Nassau

I have sailed on conquest, March of this year. It was a fun cruise and no issues with the ship.

I have never sailed on the breeze, and ship looks awesome!

Dilemma is.... I have been to all the western ports many times, which is the itinerary on the breeze.

I have NOT cruised to any of the ports on the conquest itinerary

So....is the breeze that much better? Six days is better than five, but have been wanting to cruise to Half Moon Cay.

But.... also really want to try the breeze.

What would you do? Thanks for any input and advice.

  6. So... we are booked on the carnival conquest. Balcony room 8264. Will be four females in one room ( 2 being children) Just curious, have any of you been in this room or nearby? Worried about noise, since we are under lido. Also, my first time in a balcony on carnival. We will have two children, ages 11 and 2 and I am worried about having a balcony, for safety reasons, especially. With the toddler.

Please any advise or recommendations. I have never cruised with a toddler (granddaughter).

  7. :cool:Thanks for the responses. The price difference is about 80 per person. There will be five of us total. So wasnt sure if the four hundred dollars more it would cost me would be worth it just for the ship. Its one extra sea day. I really enjoy sea days, just not sure how it would be with a two year old. We have all cruised carnival and the older kids live camp carnival. I have been on glory twice, destiny, victory and another older ship. But never breeze or splendor.

Thanks so much for the feedback. So the breze is worth the extra money for the ship experience?
