  1. We have 3 of the Tervis tumblers without the VIFP club on them, so guess that would be a great gift next time. The cooler I'm not so sure about. Last year on the Breeze we got the embroidered baseball cap. The coffee mug or new Tervis glasses sound good to me. I'm on a B2B in September on the Freedom. Do you think they will give the same gift for both cruises, or something different? Just curious.

  2. I'm single for now but if I wasn't I would probably want my kids in a separate cabin! Just wondering what age you put your kids out of your cabin lol

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

We have two adult boys and all 4 of us shared a cabin on the first few cruises. When the older one was 20 and the younger one 15, they started having their own cabin. It is far easier for them and us. Mom is still paying, so they like it WAY better.

  3. This is a misleading post to someone not an experienced cruiser. You can't compare a Celebrity Pacific cruise to a summer cruise on Breeze.

But, I agree that any Celebrity cruise would be more adult no matter when you go.

True statement and I was not trying to compare. My point was that there are far fewer kids on Celebrity than on Carnival. Plus, Caribbean cruises usually have more kids onboard than the longer cruises too. You can't really compare Celebrity to Carnival. They do not have the same demographics.

  4. Miami sounds like a better alternative. I really think that Port of Miami is easier to navigate as well. The convenience of FLL though is hard to ignore. Shuttle service from FLL to POM isn't very expensive though.

We took a shuttle last year from a hotel in FLL to Port of Miami for $15 PP. They picked us up right at the hotel and it was very easy. We thought the price was good too. Can't recall the name of the company, but think you could easily google it.

  5. That is Spring Break season so there will be more kids than usual on most lines. However I think if they aim for Princess, Celebrity, or Holland America they may find that there are less children than Carnival, Royal, or NCL.

I agree. They might really enjoy Princess, Celebrity and HAL and not nearly as many kids as the others mentioned. We are in our 60's and do cruise on Carnival, but just back from a cruise to Hawaii on Celebrity and there were very few kids aboard. It was a nice break after being on the Breeze last Aug. with 1300 kids. Yikes, a lot of little brats on that one!

  6. Be sure to take it easy. I had gastric sleeve surgery in May 2012 and cruised in Nov and Dec of that same year. I had to watch what I ate carefully, mostly because my stomach couldn't hold much. If I ate too much or the wrong things, it had a tendency to come back up or I felt miserable. Listen to your stomach and, like others have said, you don't have to eat more than you want. It is OK to send it back. I could not drink much, maybe a beer once a day, or an alcoholic drink with diet soda. You will do just fine if you listen to your stomach and be moderate. I have found that a couple bites are as good to me as the whole thing used to be.

  7. Very nice review! I had to laugh, when I saw that you flew out of Des Moines becasue it was cheaper than KC. We live in Des Moines and haven't been able to "afford" to fly out of Des Moines on our last 3 vacations! We have driven to KC, Omaha, and Minneapolis. How the heck did you get so lucky?! I'd love to actually fly out of my own town for a change! LOL

We live in Des Moines and can't always "afford" it either. We often drive to K.C. It is funny that you actually found better prices than some of the bigger cities could offer.

  8. The hot tubs on the Valor Serenity deck are way at the front of the ship, maybe on deck 11 or 12. It is wonderful to sit there and watch where the ship is headed. We enjoyed the Serenity deck on the Valor and went almost every day of the cruise, even though we were staying in a aft facing balcony cabin, way at the other end of the ship. Be sure to visit, it is not too crowded either.

  9. I usually try to go by my hunger level. Some days my body doesn't want anything until 10:00 or later; other days, I wake up hungry and have to have some protein. It seems to me that all cruiselines have the right "stuff" for doing Atkins while on the cruise. You just have to eat it and not all the sweets and white carbs! Hope everyone has a great week!

  10. I'm with you, Jean, on the seasonal allergies. I am sneezing up a storm! Congrats for doing so well on your trip. It's harder to resist the temptations when you're away from home. I have done the pizza without the crust option you talked about. It's not that hard, but always wondered how much of the crust kind of "came long" with the scaping trying to get off all of the cheese, meat and sauce!!

  11. This WOE is working well for so many of you that it gives me hope and says to keep going. Maybe I was hoping for too much too quick. My first two week total is only 4 lbs and I stayed true. It was tough this week-end to skip the pizza my family ate and I hope that if I see some results, I won't waver the next time. It helps to have support from others, so thank you all for that!

  12. It hit me this morning that I wish this whole thing was easier. My weight was up today, almost 2 lbs and I've done nothing wrong. I guess it is normal for weight to fluctuate, right? I am weighing almost every day now, and think I need to back off to once or twice a week. How often do the rest of you weigh? I was very tempted to eat off program this morning, but I gave myself a talking to and had bacon and eggs like a good girl!

  13. Lisa, thanks for jumping in again. Some of us newbies have been trying to keep it going, but it's nice to see a veteran come back. I've been at this WOE for 9 days and my scale shows 5.3 pounds gone. Wish it was more, but hopefully it will keep going down. I have not tackled the exercise component yet. I've been telling myself to try to lose some weight first and then it will be spring and nicer to get outside.

  14. Hi Heather - Glad to see you back on Atkins and posting here. It's great to give and get support from others. You've made a great start and I'm sure those pounds will melt as the time goes by. Nancy, your little Lily is precious! I wish I could brag of grandbabies, but it hasn't happened yet. My two boys are 28 and 22 and no steady girlfriends at this point. I would like to have nice mommies before we start having the babies. I am continuing to eat on the program, but would like to see some more weight come off. Maybe I'll get a Whoosh one of these days (we can only hope). Keep up the good work everyone. We can do this!

  15. I'm proud to say I did not cheat once on my first week back on Atkins. I wish the weight would shake loose a little faster, but the benefits are already there. I feel so much more satisfied, not hungry at all, and have a calmer outlook. I know this will work, even if it's not fast. I have been enjoying scrambled eggs and omelets a lot and know they can be a staple for breakfast every day. I find them much easier to eat with cheese on them! Have also been eating some bacon or sausage for breakfast and asked myself the other day "How could I not like this? It tastes great!" The salads are another staple that continue to satisfy. I'm not a huge meat eater, but find I crave it when on Atkins, especially beef. It's nice to know a bacon cheeseburger is part of the plan, as long as you lose the bun and catsup. We had one of those Angus burgers from McDonalds last night and it was really quite yummy.

  16. Hi Nancy - Welcome. I'm new to the thread too and just started Atkins for the 3rd time last Monday. It looks like I've managed to shake 3-4 pounds loose. Had hoped for more, but will take whatever decides to fall off.

Your quiche recipe sounds yummy; will have to try it. Thanks for sharing the website too. I'm sure that some of the veteran Atkins followers will be posting again soon and will also welcome you. It has been slow this week-end.

Great weight loss and proof that this WOE does work!

  17. I started back at the beginning of this thread and am going to read all the posts. There are 117 pages! Some of you have been hanging in there for almost 3 years. It's nice to know that there are so many success stories out there and that this WOE does work. I am very psyched to see good weight loss in the coming weeks and months.

  18. Pink, you have some fun things to look forward to with your move, your new gym, and the puppy. I like your comment about there not being a magic bullet. So true! Maybe posting here will help keep us all focused on what we need to do. It takes a lot of work, but can be done. The rewards are great if you keep at it.

  19. Kim, I am also on day 3, but have not weighed myself yet. I think I will only weigh once a week, on one of the week-end days. I know in the past I have jumped on the scale too frequently and then been disappointed when I didn't see a loss.

So, everyone, when is your next cruise? We are going to Alaska May 23 on the Sapphire Princess. I wonder if it is realistic to lose 20 lbs by then?

  20. It's amazing how fast the hunger goes away. I had to force myself to eat lunch today. But I knew if I did not eat, the hunger might come roaring back mid-afternoon. It would be nice if it was always easy. It's great to find a place for support. We can all do this!

  21. Hi everyone! Thought I'd jump in here. I started Atkins this past Monday and am looking forward to having great success with it. I lost about 30 lbs on Atkins in 1999 and went on it again in 2002 and lost about the same amount. I know the program works if you stick with it. I need to lose more like 70 lbs this time to get to my goal. I never made it on the other attempts and then had stints with Weight Watchers and other diets in between. To me, Atkins is an easy way to eat and you don't have to be hungry. You just have to have the right mindset and not let those pesky carbs stand between you and what you want to accomplish. I have never met a piece of bread or bowl or pasta that beats the feeling of losing that weight and being thinner.
