  1. Ok jamona2311, Your excitement has encouraged me. I'm a 66 year old widow and my husband and I loved cruising. We took our last cruise together Dec. 2014 before he passed in March 2015. We've taken cruises with all the kids and grandkids and just us. I have always been the one who made all the plans and took care of all the paper work. I went with my daughter in April 2016 and we had a great time. But I have been thinking about a solo cruise. It will be cruise #15 for me. I will for sure check out the Solo Cruisers forum. Thanks for posting. And as usual I learned something new on CC. Enjoy your cruise. I will be looking for your review.

  2. 1.) Starbucks on the way to sail away. 2.) We get back to the ship a little early from our first port of call, drink Champagne on our balcony and watch everyone coming back from their day of sun and fun. 3.) Eat Mexican food on the way home. Ready to get that Starbucks and head to Galveston in 17 days. Smooth Sailing to all!!!

  3. We did Thanksgiving with the kids and grandkids on the Triumph last year and it was wonderful.:) I'm having to cook this year. :(:( My husband has tried to blame all the cruising on me also. But everyone knows the truth. ;)

    Smooth Sailing to all!!

  4. Thanks rhiannon35. I'm very happy to hear you had a great cruise and it all went well with your diet restrictions. Like I said this is all new to us. I was a little concerned because it did state on the CCL website that special diets were only in the MDR but it did list items that are on Lido also. My husband was diagnosed with Celica, so it is important that we be very careful. It's noted on our booking and our PVP said to make sure to meet with the someone in the MDR after we board. My husband has had ruff year physically this year. So we are looking forward to this cruise and some RR. And we've always been happy with CCL. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Your info was helpful. Smooth Sailing!!

  5. After being very sick for a long time my husband was diagnosed with Celiac disease. This was only a few weeks ago, so we are new and learning about gluten free meals. We are sailing on the Triumph on Dec. 11th. Our PVP has already made note in our booking and I’ve checked on the web site and there is a gluten free menu for the MDR only. I would appreciate any info from someone who is on a gluten free diet and has sailed on the Triumph. And are there any options on Lido that are gluten free? Thank you so much in advance for your help. Smooth sailing everyone.

  6. Cruisin Lolly, my husband is a Captain with a security company he has been with for 40 years. And when he is in full uniform with his weapon most people think he is a policeman. But you would be surprised how some people look down on him when they realize he’s in security and not a policeman. Unfortunately some people think they are above others. We just have to remember they are the ones with the problem. I am always amazed at how entitled some people think they are. That’s one of the many things I like about cruising, once we board that ship we are all the same. So don’t give it a second thought. Smooth Sailing to all!!

  7. Our daughter worked for CCL as an onboard I/S Manager from 2001 – 2006. She was an officer so she had more privileges than staff or crew. This is normal chain of command in any setting. She had full guest area access as long as she was in uniform. Her job kept her very busy and away from the guests usually. When she went into the ports she had to wear her name tag, but not her uniform. She was raised to be very respectful and professional so she had no problems. CCL trains their employees to uphold a high professional relationship with the guests. Some guests can be very friendly with the crew and make it uncomfortable for the crew. The officers, staff or crew can get into a lot of trouble if they “mingle” too much with the guests. That can be difficult because they are also told the guest is always right. Appropriate behavior is a good call for everyone. We were very fortunate to get to cruise with our daughter several times. And we loved being with the crew. Our first cruise was on the Jubilee and by the end of the cruise most of the crew was calling us Dad and Mom. The crew bar and the crew parties are great. There are some amazing young men and women from many countries who work on the ships. They are very hard working, polite and respectful. We were glad to get to meet them on a personal level. It would not matter even if we had never had that opportunity to see behind the crew doors, we would still treat anyone who works in the service industry with respect. It’s not an easy job. There are some people you can just never please. It doesn’t bother me where the crew has a drink or meal. What I hate is the fact that I don’t get to go the crew bar or crew parties anymore.:) Some people just need to get over themselves.

    Smooth Sailing to all!!
