Yes, it is only during whatever their “happy hours” are.  I think it was 5-7pm but not sure.  And, they don’t offer it the first night or the night they have the officers reception.

    Sherri🙂

that has changed.  as Diamond, you will have 3 drinks loaded on each card each day to be used at anytime in any bar (with a couple of exceptions)  it is a real upgrade and we won't bother with a package..  we ae also X and have been Diamond with RCL on several trips.  it's a good deal.

  2. Thanks, TBK.  I know how fluid it is right now.  I was just trying to get some idea.  I read that a Silver Seas or one of the small 500-600 passenger ships took about 1 1/2 hours from docking to release.  Trying to change tours and meeting times this close to departure is difficult enough and getting in at noon makes it even worse.  Sightseeing in the middle of the night is not what we were looking for.  Our guide is adaptable and we have talked about spending time touring around the city when it starts getting dark.  Just hoping that they let us off at all.

That is an open ended question. I would imagine the size of the ship and the day of the week could influence the answer.

Oosterdam - 1900 passengers, but actual count is probably closer to 1500, plus crew.  We arrive 4/4 at noon and depart the next morning at 5 am.

  4. We will be in Juneau at the end of the month with 3 other ships in port. Has anyone been able to hire a taxi and/or driver at the dock for half a day to do some sightseeing - Glacier Gardens, Mendenhall, etc? If so, what kind of cost? There will be 4 - 6 of us.

    Thanks

  5. For those of us eligible for USAA, they are an excellent source for a chip and pin card.

For HydroKitty. Ensure you take at least chip and sign cards to Europe. Many places of business no longer have the magnetic strip swipe card readers. Many have gone all chip and pin, but in the touristy areas, for the next year, they'll still do chip and signature. But, you have to have that chip.

Great tip for USAA. I just got mine thanks to your info. We've used chip and sign for the last couple of trips without problems, but having a chip and pin as well is good insurance. (Guess we have both military and wine in common!!!!)

  6. Would someone please advise the maximum amount an ATM dispenses in both Australia and New Zealand? I realize there is a daily limit, but I don't know much much to enter at the ATM. Here I can withdraw $500. in a calendar day; is it the same in Australia and New Zealand?

Thank you in advance for enlightening me!

check with your bank at home. There will be a limit on daily withdrawals. You can change it for a trip. Some banks automatically set the limit at $300.
