1. We have been staying at the Renaissance, but the last time the service was really poor, might have been because I was using Marriott Points. We did the online check in on the app and we still had to wait over an hour to receive the room keys.

So this time we are going next door to the Embassy.

  2. I guess if you have some way of documenting your Chandris cruise, you might get points, but I'd not hold my breathe on that one. As to RCI, No, RCI cruises don't build points on Celebrity. They are different Lines, even though they are owned by a common company. Princess cruises are not allotted to Carnival points for that club and so on.

You do get the corresponding class from RCI. (Ie Diamond on RCI is Elite on Celebrity)

  3. They do have CBS station out of Miami... you should be good there.. do not know about the laundry... Wine not sure of the price, they do have a 3 or 5 bottle package you can purchase to have at dinner.. They do offer at least one sharz... Peter lehmann weightbridge? by the glass its about 7.50 plus tip... The pride has two bars near the restaurant.. one right outside the MDR at the back of the ship, and the lobby or atrium bar is also on deck 2 the same as the MDR..

You mean they don't carry the Denver stations anymore?

  4. Carnival might seem cheaper. But I love Celebrity. I'm not sure if it's still on, but they were offering free drink package, prepaid gratuities and an obc.

A different experience that's for sure. I took an improv class on my last cruise and preformed in the passenger show. Sure I sucked, but I got up and did something new.

You get to choose one of the 3 on Celebrity, not all 3. If you go to Europe, you get to choose 2.

  5.
I for one don't understand why anyone is viewing the new menus as a cheapening of the product. If anything, it looks to me like the inverse. I'm one of the first people to call Carnival out when they do something stupid or cheap but I actually really like these changes.

One small thing they're doing that I really appreciate after 29 cruises: having the waiters take drink orders. Why? Because I typically prefer to drink soda with my dinner and for the life of me I can never get reliable service from the overworked MDR bar servers who prioritize serving booze and tables ordering lots of drinks (the rest of my party usually orders wine). Involving the waiter will make sure my order gets taken and input into the computer, and also the waiter will know about the order and will be more likely to follow up if it doesn't arrive.

    Just my $.02.
Not sure I want the waiters doing one more thing to go along with bringing my food. Going to get even slower service with this change.
  6. I am just saying that being in the upper/middle of the 6 levels of the past guest program with Royal Caribbean earns you the TOP level when you trek over to Celebrity. Though the top level with Celebrity does not carry the same weight on Royal. Like I said, it's definitely better than nothing! Having a 6 level tier program trying to mesh with a 3 level program presents complications. My feeling is that's it easier to get to the "top" with Celebrity than it is with Royal (as a function of actually sailing the individual lines) - so I am not upset at all with the prospect of jumping over there with Diamond status. I am not sure, but my guess is that when we do sail on Royal that we'll start out with 80 points - as a starting point towards Diamond Plus. It would appear that the only real additional perk of Diamond Plus over Diamond is a "personalized gift" and access to the concierge lounge. What does access to the "concierge lounge" entitle one to?

    THANKS!

    Tom

RCI serves breakfast and lunch in the Concierge Lounge. Also serves drinks and Hors d'œuvre. Think the drinks might be all day, but we only went prior to dinner. The concierge can also book the excursions and specialty restaurants for you. This is for suites and Diamond Plus members.

I am sure there were other things, but don't recall them.

  7. Back in January, we were on a B2B on the Allure and were in a Sky loft for two weeks. RCI called us three days before we sailed and stated that the Royal Loft had opened up for the second week of our sailing and offered it for an upsale. We took it. :) How did you like the crown loft.

We really liked it. The zip line landed right beneath our balcony. The only down side was the upstairs closet. Meant I got to carry the luggage up the steps. But I have to say, I wouldn't pay the full price for it, didn't like it that much.

  8. Not that many get the upgrades. Especially now. Inventory Management is now offering upgrades to a CL for a cost. Last week on the Allure they had one left and gave it away as a bingo prize. Other than that, the remaining 24 or so sold and at over $5700.00 a person. Prices never dropped.

We were on the Oasis the day before you were on the Allure. Two weeks before we sailed, 10 of the 25 loft suites were sold. They called my TA two days before we sailed and offered us the last loft suite for an additional 800 (up from a JS we paid roughly 4100 for 2.) We snapped it up.

Our neighbors were upgraded from a GS for free, but we probably still paid less.
