  1. Hi Gwen, thank you for taking the time to write this awesome review. It brings back a lot of good memories since I did this cruise last February. I see that you have spent some time in the casino. Can you tell me who the casino host is? I found the Island to have the best casino employees that I have experienced. Is a dealer named Gabriel still there? I am thinking of booking this cruise again for 2018. Knowing the staff is the same would help make my decision.

  2. No idea how it works. Hopefully someone does. Just returned from a 10 day cruise. Was in the casino every day. Played both table and slots. I had almost 5000 points. Was offered $600.00 for future cruise within next 6 months. No discounted rate on a room. There were people on the cruise that were on a VIP cruise. Sat next to a couple that were part of that group. They said they didn't know how they got included because they don't gamble much. Was offered 1 free drink in 10 days. I was traveling with 3 other people. Everyone got offered something lowest was 200.

  3. There is a very large area on deck 17 aft. It has a covered area with tables and lots of lounge chairs for sunning. Coffee, tea, juice and water available in the morning. Servers for bar drinks. Also a bar directly below on deck 16 with stairs that take you right to the bar. Another small area on deck 7 aft. I don't remember what side of ship that is on. Churchill's deck 6 and a small area in the casino on smoking days.

  4. Last year we had a lot of time to kill before our flight left. We used the EZ check on the ship. If you airline participates the will take your luggage directly to the airport. There is a charge of maybe $20.00. We rode the water taxi with our carryons for about 3 hours. A great way to kill time. It worked out great.

  5. My reservations were through Princess reservations, made in May. I called the casino department and she finally told me the offer was there. I than called princess reservations and she did a cancel and new reservation. It saved 4 of us each $425.00.

  6. I was finally able to take advantage of a discounted cabin with a casino offer. I always book my cruises early and of course there is never an offer when I book. Over the weekend my husband received a casino offer. He hasn't cruised in at least 5 years. I got nothing and cruise at least once a year. I called the number on his offer and found I did have an offer available to me and was able to cancel and rebook. The person I talked to told me if you have a cruise booked that offer will not be sent to you even though it is available to you. 3 out of 4 of us were eligible but have never received notification of the offer. I guess it is necessary to keep checking after you book.

  7. I did the UST on the Island in Feb. It was well worth the $150.00. We visited the bridge, galley, theater, print shop, photo lab, medical center, where the anchors and lines are, and the ships engineers. In each department we where met by the officer and he explained how things work. We also went to the laundry. It was about a 3 hour tour. In the evening a gift bag was delivered to our room which included a robe, Chefs jacket, about 5 photos, nice picture frame, and personalized stationary. The tour is limited so you need to sign up as soon as you get on the ship.

  8. I just got off the Island and there was 1 bingo session each sea day except the last. On the last sea day there were 2. The jackpot did go in the last session. They called numbers until it went. The amount was $2900.00.

  9. I have sailed on Princess 2 previous times. I am usually in the casino every night for a few hours. My first cruise the casino host was very nice. Got chocolate strawberries sent to room and 1 night free drinks in the casino. The second cruise I basically got nothing. In May I booked a 15 day Panama Canal Cruise for Feb. 2016. I was told I had no casino offers at the time I booked. A few days later a offer came out that I was eligible for but was not notified about it. When I found out about it I called and was told sorry is only for new cruise bookings and the rooms for that offer were all sold out. I asked for a supervisor and was given someone in customer relations. She told me that if you have a cruise booked at the time the offer is available that you won't get notification of the offer. She claims that is to prevent people from canceling and rebooking. When I talked to my princess rep she claimed she had never heard such a thing. Is there anyone out there that has heard this?

  10. I always put 2 tags on each suitcase, one on each handle since they are paper. However, I use clear reinforced tape over them. I also place inside each bag an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper with my ship room number in case everything gets ripped off. For a cruise, I first put inside the suitcase the hotel I'm staying at the night before & the cruise ship on the same piece of paper in the event the delayed suitcase doesn't make it until the next day and my regular luggage tags are ripped off.

What a great idea. I will be using that tomorrow when I leave.

  11. It's a safe area. There are a few very casual restaurants and bars a few blocks away. The closest water taxi stop at Seville St is a half mile away, and you have to call for service because it isn't a regularly scheduled stop...the next closest is a mile away at either Gallery One or BeachPlace. If you don't have a car and have no problem walking, it's a good area to stay in.

    Thank you for your reply.

  12. Hi, a group of us will be staying a couple of days in Ft. lauderdale pre cruise in February. Can anyone give me information on North Beach Village? I have made reservations at Tranquilo. It had great reviews on trip advisor and looked nice on the web-site. I have no knowledge of Ft. Lauderdale. We will not have a car. We are looking to spend time by the pool and a little site seeing via the water taxi. Is it a safe area for walking at night? Any information will be greatly appreciated.
