Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - don’t think so

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – no balcony, but awesome panoramic views forward facing

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - n/a

    Was wind a problem? -n/a

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? - none

Any other comments? - great bathroom with full size tub; huge walk-in closet and tons of storage

  2. Bid $65/person for an 'upgrade' from a balcony to cabin 11005 (Aurea suite with sealed panoramic window) and got it almost immediately after bidding. Views were amazing, tub in bathroom was great as was the huge walk-in closet. It was worth the upgrade price, but I really did miss the balcony and the walk to the front of the ship was quite long especially at the end of a busy day. It was only for 3 nights... probably wouldn't do it for a 7 night cruise.

We are sailing on the Seaside in late March in a Bella oceanview . . . Bid on whirlpool suite upgrade and accepted, received new room assignment but still coded as Bella 😞

And it will remain Bella. When I called after our bid was accepted (Fantastica Balcony to Aurea Suite), I was told the upgrade is for the 'real estate' only and that the experience (i.e., Bella, Fantastica, etc) will remain as originally booked. I've heard conflicting stories though so we'll see...

Thanks for the info.  Could you report back if you get any of the Aurea benefits such as My choice dining, thermal spa access, bath robes, room diffuser or priority embarkation?  Did you already have a drinks package?

I called and asked that very question and was told no, the upgrade is for the 'real estate' only, NOT the experience. I've read conflicting results, so I'm just going to check again when we board.  Will report back! Actually, got a great Black Friday deal with easy drink package, wi-fi and gratutities when we originally booked.

  5. On 1/8/20, we received an upgrade invite for the 1/28/20 Divina sailing. We were already booked in a Fantastica mid-ship balcony. We bid on a panoramic window Aurea suite and received it today (1/13). We only bid $65 each for a total of $130. Because it's only a 3 night cruise, we figured we'd see what a suite is like. It has a bath tub which should be nice! Can't wait!

  6. We were on the Seaside last year and there is a smoking A ND a non-smoking side. Although you could smell the smoke on the non-smoking side, at least there weren't people smoking next to you. On the smoking side, it was horrible as in the evening, people coming out of the theater would gather in large groups around an ashtray and smoke. You aren't supposed to be smoking unless you're gambling, but it wasn't enforced at all.

Did you have a cash account? I've heard of people not being charged the 3% fee on cash accounts. Which makes sense as the 3% fee is supposed to cover credit card fees.

    No cash account.

So all of your withdrawal amount are even numbers?  Like $100 and not $103?

If so, then consider yourself extra lucky.

Yes, they are! Not THAT lucky ... didn’t come home a winner! lol

excuse my stupidity... but how do you use your cc in a slot machine???? I have always used cash... lets say I wanted to use 500 dollars one night do I take that out on one machine and then print voucher for the next machine????

Basically, but there may be daily and or cruise limits on how much ... and it’s our cabin key we’re using, not a credit card. It gets charged to your onboard account which gets charged to the credit card on file.

  10. Well we’re certainly not a higher tier level so that’s not the reason. This happened on both NCL cruises in 2017 (Escape) and 2018 (Getaway). I have our final bills and there are no additional charges! Don’t know what else to say...

Think there might be a way to not pay any fees if you have the right credit card (although I have not done this yet).  Some travel cards will give you 3% cash back for purchases involving travel.  If that is the card you have on file with NCL, then I think it would be coded as travel and you would receive the 3% fee back as a cash reward from the credit card.

We've never been charged a convenience fee on NCL no matter what credit card was on file. Just shows as "entertainment charge" on our bill for the exact amount we got. Now, this is while using our card in a slot machine. I thought I may have heard the 3% is charged if you get the cash advanced while playing a table game or through the cashier.

If you download a charge to your room on a slot machine I never was charged any fee just the amount I downloaded charged to room at least on the Breakaway?

Same here. We used our card on the slot machine on both the Getaway and the Escape and were never been charged a fee. I thought the 3% was charged if you got the advance while playing a table game

  13. I found out within a day of submitting the request (Carnival Gold --> MSC Silver). I didn't actually receive any correspondence. I had created an on-line account prior to requesting the status match and I went into the account to see if there was anything there the day after sending it in (I'm NOT a patient person) and saw that I had a Voyager # and I was Silver!

  14. I sent in my status match request a few weeks ago and then my husband's the following week. Neither of us received any kind of 'official confirmation', however I created accounts for us both on the MSC site beforehand and went I went into our profiles the day after submitting each request, it showed us as silver (matched to Carnival Gold). Booked our first MSC cruise the within a few days and received the 5% discount. Was very surprised at how quickly they responded after reading so many complaints about it taking so long.
