  1. I like to use the site www dot cruisedeckplans dot com to compare where rooms are.  They have a tool that shows the deck above and below any cabin so you can pretty much tell where the covered balconies are.  You'll also be able to tell if you may experience noise from above or below, like the nightclub aft on Deck 7 on the Coral.  We've booked on Deck 8 near the nightclub, but slightly in front of it with no problem.  Hope this helps.  Coral is one of the oldest in the fleet, but she is my fav.

  2. Jules and I have sailed on Coral 3 times in Mini-suites.  She is our favorite.  We liked the location of E711 when we did the Southbound Alaska cruise.  These cabins are fully covered, just stay forward of the nightclub on the deck below.  We were near the laundry which was handy and did not cause any problems as far as traffic or noise.  We really enjoyed Crooners as our regular hang-out.  Coral is not as crowded as Island Princess where they added about 200 more cabins and moved the gym down to the Promenade deck where the Universe Lounge was and there are no windows to look out of when you work out on the machines.  You can get a great steak at the Bayou.  Enjoy the Coral, she is a very special Princess Gem!

  3. Thanks for your review!  The Coral is one of our favorite ships and we've sailed on her 3 times, the last was in 2017 thru the Panama canal coast to coast.  We're going on her again in August on the Alaska southbound so we have been interested about her condition after her refit.  I've been told by a Princess Rep that she will be Ocean Ready beginning 5 April and we are looking forward to this new experience.  We've done the all-inclusive beverage package in the past on the Coral and didn't experience a long wait, but we do Traditional Dinning and our waiters always know our preferences in advance and look out for us (we tip pretty well and always take in interest in the staff).  Since Coral doesn't have a Vines, we frequent Crooners a lot and get a glass to take to our table like Thrak suggested.  We are looking forward to hearing from others that have/will travel on Coral Princess.  ErLee, please let us know how your experience with Ocean turns out on your trip.  Thanks

  4. We are booked for our 2nd Alaska Cruise Tour on the Coral Princess Southbound.  I was resistant about booking Alaska, but my DW just wanted to go.  It's so great a trip, here we go again in mid-August!  Fairbanks is a wonderful town to spend some time in.  FountainHead Antique Auto Museum is worth finding, it's at 212 Wedgewood Drive.  Not only cars, but period fashion too.  Great staff on hand.  Look up Dinners Drive-ins and Dives... we went to the Cookie Jar and had a great brunch there.  The Natural museum is worth a walk through also.  Princess train rail through the interior was a great experience we are looking forward to also.  Doing the land portion first and the South Bound passage last is more restful IMHO.  Worth the price!  Have a great trip.

  5. There are two reports from cruisers on the 1st post refit cruise; you can find them by searching for Coral Princess Refit.

These two cruisers were not very impressed.  Like many a refit, work continued on the first cruise.  The Coral arrived late in Fort Lauderdale, so boarding was delayed.  Carpeting was still being installed while the cruise was underway and one commented that the crew seemed distracted with all the work that was going on.  Hope we see a few more comments from other's that took the cruise.

  6. Lee W has a great view point on this trip. We did the last cruise of the year and loved it. I recommend Southbound with the land first on the Coral. Get a covered cabin toward the aft, but not all the way aft. Let you mom and dad have about 7 days on land. There is a wonderful car museum in Fairbanks, a little hard to find, but well worth it. Both Jules and I enjoyed it a lot; something for both of us. Denali and the train ride is worth it! The Island Wings float plane tour was epic, we recommend it. This is a trip Jules and I will do again. Hope you are successful.

  7. I googled it and found the sale Terms & Conditions. Sale ends 31 August, 18, 11:59pm AEDT. It says: Receive up to $400 onboard spending money per stateroom^ PLUS receive a free specialtydining voucher on selected cruises± on selected cruises.

Fares are cruise only, per person, in AUD, in complete twin accommodation, inclusive of all taxes, government fees and charges (which aresubject to change), based on the lead category for each stateroom type;inclusive of all discounts, taxes, fees and port expenses which are subject tochange). etc.... Since this says 'in AUD' I wonder if it is for the Australian market, not US/Canada/Europe. I'll check with my TA.

  8. Check out the Meet & Mingle tab at the top of this page and follow the 'Find a Meet & Mingle Party link to the Princess Cruises page. You'll find templates for name tags, door signs, and event signs. You should be able to find templates for the crew invites. I took them with me with a blank spot to write in the names of the crew members we wanted to invite. Drop the invites off with Purser at the front desk as early as you can. Your Princess POC listed in one of the above posts can help you also. On the Coral, we did our meet n greet in the Wheelhouse bar on the 2nd day of the cruise at 1100. We created a spreadsheet with the names of those who said they wanted to attend from our roll call. Best of luck, planning one of these can be fun, but takes some effort too. Don't forget to ask the crew ahead of time to help you with a mic.

  9. We did the Panama Canal from FFL to LA over Thanksgiving. Love the Coral and her crew has been exceptional. We used the IC almost daily and did not find smoke odors a problem. Seating is slim though. We loved Crooner's and spent early evenings there to meet up with friends. Enjoy the Coral!

  10. I see the Emerald schedule from Feb 19 to our cruise is as follows:

Hawaiian Islands 15 days beginning 24 Feb

Hawaiian Islands 15 days beginning 11 Mar

Pacific Coastal 3 days beginning 26 Mar

Nothing scheduled 29 Mar to 10 Apr (13 days)

then Vancover to LA/Ft Lauderdale beginning 11 Apr 19

Looks like the Emerald will be in dry dock in Victoria during the gap in her cruise schedule. I googled the topic but nothing substantial came up, but it fits that she would be dry docked about that time for normal upkeep.

Hope we can reap the benefits of a good refit with new carpet and better furniture etc.

You may want to factor that into your decision making.
