  1. I am leaving Aug 30 on Freedom and have not heard anything from RCI. Based on the latest weather reports, Danny is supposed to weaken to a TS once it gets near Puerto Rico. This is a good sign when it comes to damage, but they do need the rain...

I am more concerned about the systems behind Danny. They look bigger and would be closer to my sailing and yours.

Either way, I've heard that RCI will just change the itinerary. It would drive my planning OCD up the wall, but it's better than the alternative.

This is my parents' first cruise ever and first vacation in 14 years. Praying for good weather!!!

  2. What time does your itinerary say you dock? That's about when the tenders start. If you don't make the 1st tender, simply get in line for the next...you'll have plenty of time, and Nativeway KNOWs how this works...they will wait a reasonable amount of time.

We dock at 8am, according to the itinerary. Hubby and I are go with the flow types and we can make it just fine. Worried about my dad who is not an early riser, missing the first tender or two. Sounds like you are knowledgeable about Nativeway. Have you used them before?

  3. DH and I will be on the Freedom next month with DD and DM (they are first timers). We are in the thick of planning, so I was hoping my CC brethren may be of help ;)

We are doing Native Way excursion in Grand Cayman and the meeting time is 9:00am ship time. How early do the tenders start? Do we need to get tickets to get off on the early ones? Is 9am even doable???

Also, trying to figure out which nights we will be doing specialty dining. I have PDFs of the MDR menus, but does anyone know the order on Western?

Thanks in advance for any help or insight!

  4. I was on Freedom on the 10/19 sailing last year and wondered the same thing. I was able to see my beloved Giants play the Cowboys on the huge pool screen lounging with a cocktail in hand. I know it was also on in the On Air lounge on Deck 3. I believe it is usually the nationally televised game that they air on the ship. My luck, the game was on at 4 and against a Browns game, I think. Got lucky... No offense, Browns fans ;)

  5. DH and I had always done balconies on the Nav, Oasis, and Allure prior to our 10/2014 sailing on the Freedom. We hadn't planned on another trip that year, but got a great deal on a Promenade room. We actually really enjoyed it! At first, I was a bit bummed, because I'm a water person, and I didn't like missing out on that view. However, after a few hours, I thought about how much money I was saving and it was a non-issue. Our room was on Deck 8 midship (I think 8283). We had a great view, no noise issues at all, and a little more space than a regular interior. The Freedom class has so many extra opportunities to see water than Oasis class, so I quickly got over that issue. Also, I am a super light sleeper and I did not have any issues staying asleep because of noise from the window. If anything, it was the announcements that would always wake me up! Just booked two Promenade rooms for the Aug 30 sailing on the Freedom for DH and I in one and my parents in another. Would love to do a balcony again but for the money I save on a Promenade, it would have to be a damn good deal.

  6. Hi guys!

Trying to plan our October trip and I am looking for any recent Eastern Caribbean Cruise Compasses for the Freedom. Can anyone help? I've searched all forums and the only recent one I found was by usckatieh, but it looks like her bandwidth is exceeded and photos are now unavailable. I would be super appreciative if anyone has them and can post or email me at jenjen0203 at gmail dot com. Thanks!!!!!!

  7. stevru621, I don't know that I can promise ever rooting for the Pats, buuuuut I never want the Hubs (a Pats fan) to be in a bad mood, so I can hope that they won't lose too badly ;) Because the last two I was on were Oasis class, I'm hoping that Freedom won't disappoint!

poncho1973, thanks for the vote of confidence! I appreciate it! I don't wanna be cocky, but I was hoping the bigger city/fanbase would be an influence.

jenfromjersey, hi! I am a Jen and also from Jersey...look at that...lol! I can imagine how amazing it must feel to watch a game played in a blizzard while sippin on a cocktail from a pool deck. Your comments make me feel much more confident about getting to see my game. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone else who commented. I really appreciate the feedback!

  8. Every year it changes. Last year it was whatever ESPN Caribbean had purchased for replay on cruise ships. In 2013 that was almost exclusively FOX broadcasts which would include the Giants. But as you pointed out you saw the Pats/Steelers which is definitely not FOX, and that may have only because you were in port. The only sure thing is that it has been different every year I've been on a football season cruise.

I have never got a straight answer from anyone on the decision to show a game. There will be a 1:00PM game, a 4:00PM game, Sunday night, and Monday night. That's the ONLY constant. I hope you get the game you want, but in prior years only one game has been shown at a time.

Hmmm...interesting. I know that on the Allure, we watched the game in On Air after Sail Away so it had to be something other than what was only available in port, if we follow your theory. Game started at 4:30 and SA was at 5. Anyway, there are 3 games on at that time, so I'm hoping a bitter, decades old, division rivalry game will win!! Keepin my fingers crossed. Thank you for the insight!!

  9. I was on Freedom last October and they showed the Sunday night game and the Monday night game on the big screen by the pool. You should know which games those are because they are the weekly nationally televised games! I got lucky because The Carolina Panthers was the Sunday night game that week!

Hmmm...I would assume it would be NYG/DAL! The other options are KC/SD and AZ/OAK. I guess I'll find out as it gets closer! Thank you for the reply. Now I'll know what to look for :)

  10. Hi everyone! The Hubs and I are huge football fans and will be on the Freedom for it's 10/19 sailing. Last year, on the Allure, we were able to watch the Pats/Steelers game after Sail Away in On Air. Does anyone know if they show NFL games on the Freedom and if so, where? Lastly, any idea how to find out which game they are going to show? FYI I'm a Giants fan and they're playing the Cowgirls at 4:25 that Sunday and am hoping I get to see at least half of the game. Any other football fans out there that can answer these questions? I am very grateful!!!
