  1. Stopping in St Maarten for the day 8am-5pm in April (Freedom of the Seas). Will be myself, husband, son (10) and daughter (8). What should we do? Where should we go?? Maybe a nice beach where we can have some ice lunch and the kids can play / swim / snorkel???

And how do we get where you suggest from ship terminal and how far away is it??

Thanks so much knowledgeable people x

  2. Travelling on FOS next month and just seen they offer a daily internet package (this wasn't an option last time we sailed 2 years ago). Apologies if this has been asked many times but what is the internet quality like on board? My husband is a financial trader and will be very happy if his bloomberg work at all times (me less so!!)

  3. Hope i'm posting this in the right forum. When we did the Freedom last year we stopped in Labadee and there was a separate beach area that was only accessible to suite holders. We rented a cabana there for the day and it was amazing. Not crowded and very peaceful. Does anyone know if this the same on Cococay? Going again on the Freedom next April.

    Thank you :)

  4. thanks Pink Belle for reply.

My kids regularly use the scooters in Spain so traffic on other side of the road wont be a problem.

I think we will take them and chance it. If they get stuck with security for a week so be it

  5. Thank you to all who posted helpful comments.

As I said in my OP, they WOULD NOT be able to use them on deck, in corridors etc - the children would be told that and respect that.

Grandparents are joining me on this so plenty of hands to hold our day time essentials when we are off ship.

We are not doing any Princess tours as at this age we feel they are too young to be stuck on coaches, do museums etc so it would just be for use around the ports when we get off the ship to have a wander around and stretch our legs.

RNGALNG - we picked this cruise as opposed to a sandy beach destination or itinerary because a) we live 2 hours drive from southampton and therefore no long flight b) we did a Caribbean cruise and then a week in florida with them at Easter c) we are spending 5 weeks at our holiday home in southern Spain in the Summer and so we will have plenty of beach time then and d) the dates and price suited us.

With regards to the scooters, we have put a call in to our TA and they are asking princess. If we can take them we will. will let you all know.

  6. Hi All

Does anyone know if I am able to bring my children's scooters on board - not for use on deck but to use in the ports when we are off ship. They can go so much further on them before tiring then they can just walking.

We are on the Emerald next week and the children are 8, 6 and 4

    Many thanks

    Leanne

  7. Hi All,

We are on RCCI Freedom of the Seas in a few weeks and will be in Grand Cayman for the day.

What part of 7MB would you recommend for a family - kids will be 8 and 6 - somewhere to spend a couple of hours, playing in sand, a swim and some nice lunch.

And also how easily will we be able to get a taxi back to the port? (not getting one is my total fear!!)

Also how far is it and approx taxi costs.

    Many thanks for replies

  8. Can anyone help me with some more info on red stripes beach please.

My family of 4 (2 kids age 8 and 6) are on the FOS next month and we have a day in Falmouth and are trying to decide what to do. We are toying with Hilton Rose Hall but the ship offers an excursion to red stripe beach - I think it is pretty must just transport there and back.

Do you know if you can just get a taxi there and back? And if so how easy is it to get a cab back? Also are there sun beds and parasols for rent - I'm not a fan of a towel on the sand.

Really I would like to go to a nice beach somewhere not too far for just a few hours.

    Thanks fellow cruisers
