Looking at Oceania’s web site, I take this to mean that all cruises for June 2023 are cancelled.  (Trieste -> Athens, Athens -> Istanbul and  Istanbul -> Rome, ending June 25 2023).

Is it likely that there will be further delays?

What makes you say that, 20th may still showing on uk site

I made a calculated mistake and booked a very long Med cruise during the heart of football season on the Riviera.  Is there any venue on the ship that might have a game playing?

e to know, as we are booked during that time as well.

NO sometimes show super bowl but never seen football

I have no inside information but my guess is no. Australia has been very conservative in it’s approach right through this pandemic.

Thanks my guess is no as well, I wish they would cancel so we can make other plans

The TAs I’m referring to here get people to pay months before due date, bank it and pay Oceania on the due date directly. As I said, very unethical.

(I have a booking Oct 2022 on Regatta as I am unsure travel outside of Australia will be possible much before that)

Deano do you think there is any chance of Regatta cruise in Dec 21 round oz Thanks

We cancelled our August cruise well within the 121 days and got a complete refund within 23 days.   We had never taken the cancellation Ts & Cs  seriously as we had never been in a situation like this before, obviously.  If cancellation has not been done within the 121 days then graduation of monies is set out  for a claim: or you wait for Oceania to cancel the cruise.   It is pretty straight forward.  What isn't straight forward is the Covid 19 Virus pandemic.   J

Did you book direct with Oceania, we cancelled a few cruises well before 120 days but still waiting for refunds from TA, I think we may look at them in a different light when this is over. It must be a big problem for them, but they do not appear to be handling it very well

Today we received our deposit and final payment credited back to our CCs.

This is not from our TA but as a result of us initiating a section 75 on June 18th.

We now need to apply to our CC company to move this money to our bank.

We requested the refund on 16th March after our cruise was cancelled on the 14th March and due to sail on March 31st.

With regards to deposits in the UK we can cancel with return of deposit if we cancel 31 days or more before our final payment date. These are specific to Oceania's T&Cs in the UK.

However, the TA that you book with may have different T&Cs which may mean that they can keep your deposit.

This is unusual in the UK because usually if you cancel a cruise, even one or two days after the initial booking your deposit is forfeit.

We have booked a British Isles cruise for May 21 direct with Oceania.

Additionally, my O agent told me that I can cancel for any reason upto 48hours before sailing and monies paid will be transferred to another cruise.

Our TA is NOT based in Chorley.

    Is your TA in Redditch

Omelettes are made to order.  Scrambled eggs may be pre-made in small batches.  (I don't ever order scrambled so others may correct me.)  However, neither omelettes nor scrambled eggs are made from powdered mix.  Always fresh eggs per our experience.

The omelette mix comes out of carton, its not to bad

I am wondering, from the many mentions of the other ship if things might be better on the Riviera. I certainly hope so.  It can make a difference which ship and who is in charge of food and dining

While I do think there is a middle ground, and will simply ignore “cheerleaders”, I will say this.  For a line that boasts Best Cuisine,  this just doesn’t seem like it.

Some of the comments do seem valid. “Devoid of seasoning” not just heat.

And our health department would be all over luke-warm food. That is an issue.

I thought that that the food would be a reason to book “O”.  But perhaps the itinerary is the single benefit.

We have just come back from 3 weeks on Rivera, good food and service, you will be fine

It would appear there was a major turn over of crew at commencement of our cruise following relocation to the Southern Hemisphere. This has impacted across the ship but particularly in food preparation, stores and service, everything from the GDR to Room Service has been affected.

Please note well, this is not criticism or complaint. Just fact. Now please continue to attack me. We are taking on board all your personal criticisms and will endeavour to correct our dreadful appreciation of Oceania's fine cuisine and service, so please feel free to continue.

    nice one

Ah yes...this reminds me of a review of the French Laundry  in Napa.......  The people  found the food terrible  not exciting as it was not like their local diner served...   People have different yard sticks to measure with.     I am reminded ot Jean Shepards quote about his dad "   People only like meat and potatoes and the only eat other things to impress each other.."     I wonder what meals  dining experiences impressed Sailco????     One wonders      Based on personal experiences around the world and many cruise lines, I get the feeling the problem is not with the food

They told you part of the problem the food is not hot

A meal served hot would be nice.

make sure you ask for your food very hot, we have had the same problem, it seems most people are happy with cool food, try the grill in the terrace or pasta station where they cook it while you wait, hope it gets better for you

    Of course, that's my opinion.

Assuming that you may be a big Dotty fan, rest assured that she has a very loyal following. And, when it comes to her friendliness, Trivia oversight skill and several other aspects of the CD job, she is a stellar performer. However, one only needs to search the CC Oceania forums/threads to find the numerous complaints about her incessant and repetitive hard sell of shipboard services.

Not a big Dotty fan at all, but dont  knock the new CD because they are not to your taste, every person is different

  14. 33 minutes ago, Flatbush Flyer said:

IMO, the best of the current CDs are Ray Carr, John Egan and Leslie John (with Ray and Leslie being at opposite ends of the personality spectrum). I've heard good things about Julie but have yet to encounter her. There's also three newer fellows - two of which are so lackluster that I've renamed them "the English guy" and the "wannabe Broadway performer (who's often off key)."

I hate to be so harsh on the poor performing newer CDs - maybe they'll get their Oceania sea legs sooner than later. But Dotty should really know better that her constant barkering is obtrusive and so unnecessary.

And thats all it is your opinion

I very quietly read and internalize posts.  I used to react quickly and with a lot of aggression.  Now, I let things just play themselves out.  Two key issues on this thread.  Internet/Wifi and Food Related.  Both worthy of improvement by Oceania.  Especially since they are not main stream cruise lines, they are premium.  My motivation is a cruise I have booked Oct 2020.  So I have a vested interest.

I have written a letter to Oceania.  This is not my first letter written to a large company of products/services that seem to have issues.  It is very detailed, written in a non-confrontational yet direct style and also provides solutions to the issues based on my decades of customer service experience. Those letters were sent registered mail signature needed.  They were sent to the office of the high level leadership of Oceania and NCL the parent company.

I am sharing this with those on this tread because if any issue is worthy of our time and debate, the company needs to know this conversation is serious and needs to be addressed. Selfishly, I am hoping that some of the issues could be resolved by my cruise.  My approach here has worked rather well for me in the past and I hope it will provide at least some improvements in the future. No response needed, just wanted everyone to know I was listening.

I hope your letters to the highest level of Oceania and NCL do the trick, but i fear the cutbacks came from there in the first place

That's the first I've ever heard of that here. Are you maybe thinking of another line?

Only discount I've heard of is a discount on La Reserve when you have the drink package.

you get a saving on drinks package if you are silver level or above
