  1. Hi cc cruiser, you will so enjoy the Galapagos.

The answer to question 1 is shorty wet suits etc are provided. They did have a few long wet suits. I think sizes are small medium and large. If you have your own and can pack it I would bring it. We went in Sept 2019 pre covid and this is in cool dry season. Water is 68 degrees fahrenheit.

    The new ship looks terrific.

  2. Hi DrKoob, sorry, no picture, I was looking at cruise tracking sites.

We look forward to your review and blog.

The Silversea roll call has a few passengers on the Jun 19 2021 Expedition for Silver Origin.

Hopefully, all we stay at home people can get to read some reviews of the new Ships.

  3. Jun 16th 2021 The Celebrity Flora met up with the Silver Origin at anchor off the Baltra airport.

It appears the Origin will be first to return to Galapagos Expeditions on Jun 19 2021.

With Flora starting up in early July.

A very special Welcome to the two Sisters for continued Galapagos enjoyment by the Expedition guests.

Perhaps a few reviews will follow!

  4. Silver Origin departed Manta on April 23 and is now off San Cristobal!

Are they getting ready for passengers?

    Guess the sailing start Date!

We all look forward to Reviews of this new Ship.

  5. Hi Deb 1024 and Carol from California re Galapagos Origin.

If you get the vaccine and things are better for air travel go for the Galapagos, a once in a life time cruise that is Expedition focused.

We did the Silver Galapagos Sep 07-14th 2019, our last cruise before covid.

The season is cool and dry, water temperature was 68 fahrenheit. Shorty wet suits, mask, fins, and snorkel provided, snorkel excursions and or kayak were daily, you sign up for what you want to do after an evening presentation the day before. We did baltra to san cristobal(A). As another post notes possible re working islands visited.

Each day a morning and afternoon excursion via zodiac to the islands. Lots of birds, sea lions, land and sea iguanas and sea life to see from zodiac, kayak and snorkelling.

Zodiac landings are dry or wet( in about a foot of water to sandy shore).

The naturalists, and all crew are outstanding as is food and beverage(all included) service.

The Origin is a new modern ship with about same capacity of 100, not sure with covid how this will be booked.

    ENJOY

  6. Hi ABoatNerd and all others awaiting a vaccination.

Out here on the wet coast of British Columbia progress is being made.

Dec 24th my niece in healthcare got first shot, Jan 08 my 97 year old mother in law, in care facility got first shot. In BC we will wait 35 days between first to second injection. This is based on data that after first shot and 2 weeks passes the pfizer vaccine gives protection at about 92%. This is very positive. No need to give second injection at 3 weeks. Also, another over 100,000 can get first vaccination if we go from 3 weeks to 6 weeks for second injection.

Each month, after December, we get more vaccine in following months, as supplies are available.

Goal is to vaccinate healthcare workers, elderly, then on down the lists until all who want the vaccine are done this year.

    Our turn will come.

  7. Hi twangster, congratulations on the Galapagos booking.

While you did not go with Celebrity, the Silver Origin will be  a great expedition cruise of the Galapagos islands.

We did the Silver Galapagos Sept 07-14,  2019 Baltra to San Cristobal.

The new Silver Origin is a sister ship of the Celebrity Flora.

The Silver Origin is in Manta Ecuador, when is your voyage?

Any expedition to the Galapagos is not to be missed.

    Good luck and safe travels.

  8. Silver Galapagos current location is in Guayaquil, just off a channel, could be at dry dock for renovations/maintenance.

One year ago today we embarked Silver Galapagos in Baltra for a great 7 day expedition.

The ship was fantastic re the tours via Zodiac and kayak, amenities and dining were very enjoyable, the fauna and flora are why you go.

The new Origin will be spectacular and I hope the Silver Galapagos gets a new life!

  9. Silversea website has first Origin cruise in Galapagos islands Sept 19 2020!!

I hope it sails and if so a review would be great for many who are looking forward to this Origin Expedition Voyage.

Sept is the Dry season, enjoy as we did in sept 2019.

  10. We did the Zaandam Buenos Aires to Antarctica to Valapariso Jan 2014.

There were 4 days cruising the Antarctic Archipelago which was Spectacular.

The farthest south Latitude was 65  with Antarctic circle at 66.

The Chile  coastal cruising is similar to Alaska with glaciers to view.

Antarctica was so much more re ice, snow, mountains, glaciers, and wildlife, penguins, seals, birds, fish,  whales etc.

  11. 80 days after request on April 14th, refund posted to charge card today July 03 20.

This was for a cruise and land journey to Yukon and Denali Alaska Jun 20-30th.

Last Cruise was Silver Galapagos Sep 05-15th 2019. Could be a great last cruise for a while!

    Happy July 04th.

  12. Hi hubofhockey, and congratulations on the Silver Origin. If not for Covid 19 you would be on the Silver Galapagos now.

We did the Silver Galapagos sep 05-15 2019, itinerary A. When is your new voyage date and itinerary?

As it is an Expedition your new ship will enhance the already great experience. There were 2 zodiac excursions, one in morning and one in afternoon, plus others for snorkelling and kayak.

    Enjoy the new ship!!!

  13. Thank you Zaandam for a great South America/Antarctica cruise. The Ship and passengers survived the Drake Shake.

They have added Zodiacs to the Maasdam but not sure if they get much use!

Possibly after drydock the Zaandam will do some Zodiac/expedition voyages??

We will stay tuned for developments.

  14. Hi  ejsnyc, Good decision to stay with the veranda on the 5th deck and save the 2500 for another trip. We did a Baltra to San Cristobal in Sept 2019. We were in cabin 345 and down the corridor were two grandparents and their 12 year old grandson. They had no problems with the cabin and 3 excited voyagers. A very shore excursion busy adventure with snorkelling and kayaking added on many days. Enjoy this trip of a lifetime.

  15. So glad Mitsugirly got to do scuba in Roatan. Once the specialist cleared you there was no holding you out of the water. The dive company was dedicated and helpful with your limitations.  When getting around on the boat use a Galapagos handshake, forearm to forearm for good support.

The video by hubby on the go pro is great, the blue tangs you all got to see and Sakari photo captured. He is very comfortable diving and the go pro video is a bonus.

Sakari took some colourful pictures once the mermaid was free from her minder. The Bubbles/jellyfish picture is one she can work with at home.

Congratulations to you and the family. We know the dive will aid your recovery from the injury.

We look forward to your pictures and more of the review.

  16. Zodiac Questions: how many ports have Zodiac excursions, what is the cost, do you land on the islands, are landings dry or wet?

We have done Zodiac excursions in the Galapagos islands off Silver Galapagos, great experience and adventure.

    Your comments are appreciated.

    Thank you

  17. Nynewfies is so ready for the Nov expedition.

We wore shorts for all the wet landings, first on was on first full day in morning, lots of photo opportunities of birds.

I found shorty wet suit cool in September, cooler than nov as Rachel G and sugar 333 note.

Shorts on other days also as 2 shore excursions per day, and zodiac was extra and 2 opportunities, snorkelling also extra and some days 2 more opportunities.

A beach day with bathing suits and white sandy beach, had sea lions and a sea lion pup, a few days old.

The sun came and clouded over but I noted back of my legs pink on calf from walking. Changed to tan.

A wide brimmed hat with string/strap under the chin is a must, re sun and wind, Windy on zodiacs.

If I can figure how to attach pictures I will try to post some.

Anticipation is almost as much fun as the trip. No the trip is way better.

  18. Hi nynewfies, you will really enjoy your Silver Galapagos expedition.

We are just back from Sep 07-14th Baltra to  San Cristobal, A itinerary.

Shore snorkelling is ok but I did find the water cool at 68 degrees, dry cooler season.

The kayaking has you get in 2 person kayak off the Zodiac, the guide and driver hold the kayak to the side of zodiac, legs in while holding rope and slide down into kayak. The kayak is quite stable in the seas. You keep back from shore so  waves do not take you too close to shore.

The expedition is busy and up early, breakfast and off on excursion, can be 1.5 to 2.5 hrs long.

Wet landings usually go off side of zodiac in a few inches to a foot of water depends on wave action.

The food is great with lots of varied sea food, we did the Grill with cook your own on hot stone, it was cool and windy, blankets and bib provided! Lots of fun.

The guides, naturalists are so very knowledgeable and the Fauna are right in front of you. We were told to keep 2 yards from wildlife, but they do not follow the Rule. A DVD of video and still pictures is given to all.

We just finished mounting 6 photos we took as great memories of the birds, sea lions, tortises, and iguanas.

You have so much to look forward to and will be overjoyed.

  19. Thank you Mitsugirly and Family for another unbelievable review with spectacular photos.

The diving in Roatan had you three down to 20, 35, and then 50 feet. Great photos and video, the purple sponges look like ceramic art. The drama of the swim through channels on video and still photos took us all on the dive! We can see why you were all pleased with the 70 minute dive.

Lots of smiles by the Mermaid. Dad and Sakari on the dance floor is a time to remember.

Costa Maya zip lines and lazy river makes us want to go there.

Only a Nurse and cruise critic veteran would share pictures and narration on the Tib/Fib fracture!

My brother in law had a tib/fib fracture with similar hardware April/2018. He just completed a 15000 kilometer motorcycle adventure.

You will heal and be ok. Remember that there are many sending you healing thoughts.

More adventures and review to follow.
