The biggest issue (well, besides it being against the rules) I see is that the OP stated the cabins are "far apart" which would mean different muster stations. If they were to decide to break the rules and change one adult and one kid, the changed cruisers would be expected to go to their ASSIGNED muster station in the event of an emergency - and that would mean that should there be an evacuation the kids and the parents would be separated.

It's one thing to break the rules and change cabins within the same muster station - still against the rules, but at least you'd still be together in an emergency - but another to not only break the rules but ensure that your family is separated in case of an emergency.

I understand what you are saying - but my "kids" drive cars and have jobs.  I am not concerned that we might be separated in an emergency as that would likely happen anyway - and I have full confidence that they could follow instructions as well as I could.

Just because you did it and got away with it, doesn't make it ok.

Rules have reasons. You don't have to know what they are or understand them. And you can't just decide to ignore them because it's not convenient.

Life would be chaos if everyone just decided to substitute their judgnent for rules and regulations.

Don't want to stop at the red light? Nobody's coming...so who cares 🙄

If I thought this was an actual "rule" I might agree with you.  However we just returned from our trip, and as I suspected, this was not the case.  We changed rooms as soon as we got on board.  No deception or rule-breaking required.  By the way - we did not break rules the last time either.  We had the room cards changed at guest services - same as this time

  3. An update now that we are back.
Moving rooms was a non-issue.  We simply went to the Guest Services desk and asked to move the teenagers to one room together and us into the other.  They changed our room cards and accounts to reflect the change.  Everyone knew we were in 7125 and the kids were in 6025 - from the cabin stewards to the bartenders to the dining room hostess to the waiters- to the activities staff, to the muster station staff.
by the way - my kids are 15 and 16.

With ships sailing with empty rooms why not phone up and see if they can move you to adjacent cabins? I can totally understand the reasons why you want adults in one room and teens in the other but also understand the reasoning for under 21s to be near their parents.

I did it on purpose.  My room is a veranda - kids room is an oceanview.  I did not want them to be interior, but did not want to spring for a veranda.  To be honest, I won the veranda cruise while on the Edge in December and added the additional cabin so that the kids could come with us.

It might work if they were over 18, but based on the dates of their ages on your Carnival Elation cruise that would make them 15 & 16 and they would never allow this.

Good investigating!  yes, they are 15 and 16.

you inspired me to update my signature 🙂

That is all I could find as well.  I'm not really concerned.  We did it before when our now-adult children were teenagers, and no one blinked and eye.  I was just wondering what the current climate was.  It's not like we are going to dump our teenagers off in their room and never see them again, lol!

  7. I know I've seen this topic answered years ago - but now I cannot find anything, so please help.
We are cruising with our two teenagers.  Currently we have two rooms (nowhere near each other) with a parent and teen in each room.  Of course, we would like to move the parents together and the teens together.  Anyone know current procedure for doing this?  We leave on Saturday.
    Thank you so much!

This is probably irrelevant to you now but technically an Infinite Veranda is an upgrade from a Sunset Veranda. Maybe not in popularity with some but on the pricing structure.

no it is not.  I've been looking for Edge class cruises in 2022 and SV are priced Higher than IV.  In some cases substantially more.  That is disappointing because I booked my upcoming December Criuse in an SV and it was actually cheaper than an IV.  I guess Celebrity is catching on.  What upsets me is that they keep churning out these boats with Infinite Verandas - Not looking good for my future cruising with Celebrity.

  9. While I was taking photos of our vaccine cards for check-in, I realized that both our cards have a misspelled last name - Our last name is Andersen, but the cards have Anderson.  Does anyone think this will be a problem?  I'm not sure how the vaccine cards work - is the number from the little sticker tied in with our identity some how?

If anyone knows, I'd appreciate the help!

We were recently in 9309...our cabin steward brought us two loungers on the first day...we had plenty of space for the two chairs that were already there, a table and the additional two loungers.  I wouldn't hesitate to book an SV on Edge or Apex again.

I just booked this cabin!  I really wanted to try Edge, but was not impressed with the videos I saw of the IV - snagged the last SV on my cruise and then thought I needed to find out if it was worth it.  thanks for the confirmation!

  11. This is very informative!  I've never been on Princess before, but it sounds like a great line!  It's funny  - I "discovered" Celebrity on a thread like this.  I asked to compare it with Royal Caribbean - and someone said "When I get back from an RCI cruise I feel like I need a vacation - but when I return from a Celebrity cruise I feel like I was on one!"   This sold us on Celebrity because we are at a stage in our life when "laid back" sounds pretty appealing!

  12. I'm kinda in shock that Celebrity even listened!  One person made a really good point in an earlier thread - almost nothing on board is "essential" or useful to everyone.  That's what makes it a vacation - options and opulence and adventure.  When they start taking away those things to "save money" then we might as well stay home.  We switched from Royal Caribbean for the little added luxuries that made Celebrity feel more like a vacation... Pool towels readily available, mints on the pillow, real hand towels in the public restrooms, padded loungers, and reclining chairs on the verandas, Cafe El Bachio desserts, etc.  When Celebrity starts taking away all those little luxuries to save a dime - then they might as well call themselves Royal Caribbean.  Movies are not something we've ever watched - but knowing I have the OPTION makes my trip feel more like a vacation.

Obviously he was not stable enough to last the 21 hour trip to San Juan. Would not the family sign a waiver to get him off the ship and medevac him as fast as possible? You would, your wife would, I certainly would sign a waiver to get myself and loved one to rapid evacuation to a proper medical facility.

I am reminded of a time on board a cruise ship plying the Caribbean and we had the pleasure of having the ship's doctor at our table. It was vacation time and  this doctor was the relief doctor from Norway.  I nonchalantly asked the kind doctor what he was called upon to perform the most on board this luxury line, his answer would shock you !

Well???  don't leave us in suspense like that...

I spoke with Dan last evening, he is on the Reflection until early or mid November. Two months. Then a vacation and I believe he said it would then be back to the Equinox...

UGH!  We travel Nov. 29th.  That means  we are probably gonna end up with the same CD we always have on Celebrity -  He Whose Name I can Never Remember.

Really !!!!!!!!! We have been traveling world wide for over 30 years and would NEVER , NEVER, NEVER travel without insurance !!! Find it difficult, especially in this day and age that  travellers would not do so. Maybe its a thing that we, in the UK, just do .

Well - we have international medical insurance, never fly, and are pretty low-budget cruisers, so we were willing to take the risk of losing our trip cost.  We've recently increased our travel budget and our parents are getting elderly, so  I felt the time was right.    If our travel had included flights, I would have purchased protection years ago, but we live within driving distance of 8 ports - so we've never had that to contend with.

We skipped our stop in Nassau today and came to Freeport to deliver hot food, water, and supplies to them.  There was also an RCI ship here doing the same thing.  Our Luminae hostess reported that she and many other volunteer crew members spent most of their time off today cooking and packing meals.  Celebrity has made it possible for us to donate directly to the relief effort and they will be matching our contributions.  Way to step up to the plate, Celebrity!  We have all been refunded one night's fare based on the price we paid.  Above and beyond.

    Thanks for sharing this!

That is the cheapest we have ever paid for a cruise. And it’s a very expensive time to travel (Canadian March Break) That price is about $440 US per person. Wow. Yes, it’s an inside, but the price was too good to pass up.

I called and added all 4 perks ( this was the Black Friday sale a few weeks ago) for a total price of $2062 Canadian. I had to call to get the perks added.

If I tried to add the 4 perks online the price was $3900. I think the price I got might have been a mistake.

Now, with this new sale, the price with one free perk is almost $3000.

Up and down pricing like I’ve never experienced before.

Last year we snagged an 11 day cruise for $600 pp!  We were up on deck 11 with all the aquaspa folks - so I felt posh by association (lol!) That was our first interior room since I made the leap to veranda a few years back, but we made the best of it - and had the best steward EVER!

The first time I sailed with Dan France he was on the Norwegian Dawn as an activities director.  He was the best thing on that cruise.  Jump forward a year and I was sailing on the Summit to Bermuda and to my surprise Dan was the CD! I have also sailed with him on the Equinox and have never been disappointed! He is a great  CD. A little side note. When I  first met Dan on my first, last and only Norwegian cruise Kristine Gacula was working with him and now she is a activities Director for Celebrity too. I have sailed with her on the Equinox and she Is currently on the Eclipse.  Another great asset to Celebrity.

    Cheers!

Thank you for the info!  We now have a veranda,  beverage package AND a good CD.  I am so excited!

    Celebrity launched a 2-week promotion today, running September 5-18, 2019: https://www.celebritycruises.com/cruise-deals/weekend-cruise-sale

(official website promotion info) / http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Celebrity/General_Info/Flyers/CEL_The_BIG_Deal_Offer_September_Update.pdf (TA-oriented info).

Essentially, you get a free perk on "Sail" (ie. 1 perk total) and "Sail Plus" (3 perks total) and up to 400$ stateroom savings - the promotion is not applicable to Suites and "Sail All Included".

Seems to actually be a "real" offer, giving a free additional perk without increasing the price. Just made a few mock bookings, and the stateroom prices with three perks are ridiculously low, when comparing to the normal running promotion.

We booked yesterday.  I have been looking for a cruise on Celebrity for a couple of months now and this was the first real "sale" I have found!  I was able to get my preferred veranda room + free perk and $100 on board Credit ( Reflection) for $120pp per day.  BARGAIN!

  20. Yesterday I booked our 10th cruise and today I purchased trip insurance for the first time ever!  I feel so adult right now! 🙂
I hope I never have to use it, but I just feel like this is a huge "cruising" milestone.  I know insurance is widely recommended on the boards, but I've never met anyone in real life that actually buys it, and I am wondering if this is something that most cruisers do, or just the ones on cruise critic?
