  1. The Blue Horizon on Robson Street is showing rates as low as $215 USD per night for 9/13/18. Its an excellent, clean, well managed property and a big favourite with cruisers. Its on a stop for the Vancouver Trolley and has many restaurants near by.

Wow - thank you so much for the quick reply. Is the Trolley the best bet for a site seeing or is there something better in the way of a tour company. As I mentioned there are 7 of us and we only have the one day in Vancouver so want to get the best we can. I so appreciate your help as this is absolutely the last thing I have to schedule for this trip.

  2. Good afternoon all!! We (7 adults) will be arriving in Vancouver on the Carnival Legend on Thursday 9/13/18. We are taking the early (635 am) amtrak out of Vancouver on Friday 9/14/18. From reviewing as much of the 152 pages as I could - I understand we should do the trolley to see the most of Vancouver in one day. But the question continues to burn me is a clean, decent place to stay that is not several hundred dollars. The 200 dollar range is fine as that is what we are paying in seattle - but we have not been successful for vancouver yet. Thank you in advance for any advice from the experts/experienced in Vancouver.

  3. OK - we have been back a few weeks - but just now have the chance to write. St. John is absolutely one of our favorite ports now!!

I was able to get a free cruise from Carnival and due to my hubby's very limited vacation time - we took this one out of Boston. I did not really expect much - BUT was so pleasantly surprised.

First - you walk off the ship and are greeted - yes greeted - not ambushed - by people welcoming you to St. John - hubby was given a pin and I a rose - WOW!

Second - we booked the jet boats - Absolutely a must do - now hubby said well it is only 3.4 k to the reversing falls - so we decided to hike it - hmmmm - probably not our best move - 1 hour and 15ish minutes later - we found it - but people along the way were fabulous at providing directions as it is not that well advertised during the walk (up hill both ways I am told - lol) - but great. So - take a cab...

The jetboat ride was fabulous - I don't think I was white knuckling - but it was an absolute hoot and we would do it again. Notes - you will get wet and it is cold - but OMG so much fun!!!:D We took a cab back to the center of town...

As I had been researching what to do - I stumbled on a site for Celestial Treasures - I was interested in a psychic reading while in port - I was not disappointed in this little shop or in Paula the lady doing my reading. Authentic, kind and loving all the way around. Much like I found the people of St. John in general. We are planning another trip just to walk around the town and tour the shops more. Lovely town and a must do port - I think I would love to go in the fall when the colors are in!

Finally - the nice slow pace of the ship was amazing - we saw whales - not close - but saw them - their blow spouts and then their big tails. We also saw dolphins closer and jumping in and out of the water!! LOVE this itinerary!

any questions let me know - enjoy the heck out of St. John....:p

  5. Just back and have to say - we LOVED St. John! We thought we were ok to walk to the Jet boat ride as the sign said 3.4K to the reversing falls....won't say it was a mistake - but there is no real signage for the Jet Boat ride and the walk was closer to 4.5 miles I would guess - took us about 1 hour and 20 minutes:eek:. But - the day was gorgeous and the people we stopped along the way to ask for directions were awesome. Next time we would take a map and go the shorter route to the jet boat ride - which by the way was worth every penny.

Also,,,had a great spiritual reading by Paula at Celestial Treasures on Charlotte Street - which is an easy walk to and from the ship. Accurate and loving reading for sure.

We will go back to St. John again for sure - the town, the people, the hospitality are wonderful. Thank you Fundy for your fabulous guidance!

Oh, by the way - we did take a taxi back to town:p

  6. For the jet boat tour, just hop in a taxi to go to Fallsview Park where the boat leaves from - 5 minute taxi ride. For city tour, you'll already have a close up of Reversing Falls, so if you plan on staying in the city I would just explore the historic area near the ship by foot - there is no need to hire a taxi or guide to see the historic area - it's easily self-guided. You'll have ample time - I recommend doing jet boat last because you'll get wet and will want to go back to ship to get dry clothes.

Thank you so much! IS there only one jet boat ride? I think we will do first thing in the am - go back and change and then meander around the city. Thank you again - it is soooooo wonderful having people in the know. If we met up - I would buy you a drink!:p

  7. Thank you so very much for this string. We happily but unexpectedly will be on the Carnival Glory starting next Sunday with only the one stop in St. Johns on the 18th.

Would love specific directions on the best and most economical way to accomplish the following:

    1) jet boat ride

    2) city tour

    3) get back on the boat in plenty of time

We really are not looking for much more than that. Thank you so much for your help. We definitely appreciate your expertise and patience with answering all these questions. :D

  8. nope, nope, nope - Not that kind of singles search - Mom is prior Army and would not want anyone to get hurt:D

Just thought if there were other guys and gals in that age group - I would help them find a thread here to start meeting and greeting with peeps. Travel planning is what I do - they don't even know about these boards yet - but again if a thread started with others going on the cruise - I would send them the link.

  9. We are sailing on the Liberty out of Miami on 11/24/12 - YEAH:D

Taking with us single son (31) and single daughter (27)

Not looking for them to meet their match - just some other singles to hang out with, go to all the silly parties with and stay up way past my bed time with!

Anyone else out there going on this one? Would love to start a thread for them and others - I personally use the regular roll call which is great for us middle agers who are already married - we always have a great time with the meet and greets - would love to help set up a singles meet and greet concurrently if possible!:)

    Aren't I a good mom?!;)
