Just off the Gem today. The early show starts at 6:30 and the late show starts at 8:30.

I notice looking at some recent dailies that Splash Academy opens at 7:00pm and the early show starts at 7:00pm. That seems to make getting to the 7:00pm show on time impossible. Do they open the academy a couple of minutes before 7 or is it pretty much right on the dot? We have never cruised NCL so we are just trying to figure this out. Our son is 4 so going to the late show is not really an option as we are back in the cabin around then.

It was three years ago today my family and I boarded the Carnival Miracle for our cruise on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I was part of an unbelievable Roll Call that honored the memory of those lost that day. We lobbied Carnival to delay the sailing that day so we could stop in front of Ground Zero as they lit up the memorial and they did. It was an unbelievable experience that I will never forget. I wrote a trip report about it and thought I would share it again today if anyone is interested. God bless all those lost and the families that deal with that loss every day.

Thank you for the review! My family and I are doing this same itinerary on October 9th. We have only cruised Carnival so I was happy to hear your upbeat review of the Explorer. From the sounds of it we should have a great time.

If they've done any hiking before this won't be difficult at all. The hike itself is only 2-3 miles and they stop for a snack/break by the waterfall. Have fun!
Thanks for the great information! We are doing this same cruise on 10/9 and I was looking at this excursion. How long is the bus ride? We have an almost 4 year old who I think would like this. He's pretty adventurous. This will be his forth cruise.....:eek:

We are on cruise number four with our Maclaren umbrella stroller. Lightweight, reclines, and has a carry strap. Our son has slept in it every cruise since he was 10 months old. They are a little pricey; we got our gently used on craigslist and it was an awesome investment.

I couldn't figure out how to send a private message to you on here so please excuse this public post. I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear of the loss of three of your brothers in arms with the Mounties. I thought of you two as soon as I heard the news. Although we have never met, I feel like we have after reading your wonderful trip reports that include so much about your family. I just wanted to send my deepest condolences to you and your fellow officers.
I had a very good New York State Trooper friend killed in the line of duty back in December and I was able to witness the brotherhood of those men during the funeral. I was also very touched that the Mounties were represented at the funeral.

Exactly the same experience here the last couple hours. Strangely, the cruise I was looking at has actually gone DOWN in price over the couple hours I've been trying, just can't reserve/book it!
Thats the reason I have been trying to book this morning. The cruise I have been watching is showing a price drop as well. I have a feeling when they get it straightened out I will no longer see that price drop! :(

Anyone else having problems with the website today? I pick a cruise and a date and try to continue to room selection and it just bumps back to the same screen. Maybe the kids sale free sale has crashed the booking engine.

I play pretty much anything but my wife and I both play slots too and its possible to do good if you get a good machine.Its a little harder not being regulated like AC and Vegas.They make the rules
Actually dad got the offer. He says he didn't spend much but asked to be rated every time he sat down and ended up playing with their money most of the time.

If they got offered a free cruise they are gambling thousands(depending on what they play). Comps from Carnival are not like here in AC :)

My parents got a letter from the Carnival Players Club giving them a free cruise if they book by Tuesday and sale between now and December. Has anyone ever done this? Do they give you the worse cabin on the ship?
I also need to find out how much they are really gambling...they say not alot but I've never been offered a free cruise!:eek::(
