I'm wondering the same thing.. I love St. John but with the short time and all the travel in the end is it worth it?

Hi Everyone!

So we will be cruising in April on the Allure and want to go to St. John. We have been before and fell in love with it. We are noticing that the RC excursions are only 4 hours total. Has anyone done this? We have been told the ferry over and back is at least 45 mins each way so that would leave us 2.5 hours on the island..

I have also read that we can jump in a cab and get to Red Hook and take the boat over on our own- but how long does it take from the ship to that dock round trip? How much "extra" travel time should we allow ourselves if we do it on our own and are we really gaining any extra time on St. John?
