  1. We just got off the Triumph yesterday and it was our first time in an Aft OceanView. We were in room 2454 and it was quite a bit smaller than the regular oceanviews. There was a chair instead of a sofa, 2 closets instead of three, and only one cabinet. I'm not sure what the other oceanview Afts were shaped like, but ours was a corner room, which might have been the reason it was smaller. I did notice there was no pull down bunkbed nor trundle bed. It was plenty room for the both of us but we had to get creative with where to stash our belongings.

As far as vibrations, there were some but not enough to keep us awake at night or wake us when docking.

The room was pleasant in the mornings, warm from the sunshine in the afternoons, and cold enough for the extra blanket at night.

Hope this was helpful and happy sailings to you.

  2. Just got off the Splendor Sunday and I loved the ship. I was originally booked on the Conquest (mainly for the 2.0 upgrades) but Carnival switched us b/c the Conquest was moving to Ft Lauderdale.

There were a lot of food options, Tandoor, Mongolian Wok, Burrito Bar, old grill for hot dogs & burgers, deli, pizza, a rotisserie on deck 10 that most people don't know about, and the regular buffets and sweet spots.

The crew was great, Malcolm and the entertainment staff were wonderful. They were visible all over the ship. This entertainment staff is probably my favorite of any I've cruised with.

As for the ports, we didn't make HMC b/c of a medical emergency but ported in Nassau instead. If you love beaches, its a great itinerary.

  3. I've had several kidney stones, mine are uric acid stones caused by dehydration. I try to stay on top of them now that I know what causes them. My first one, my doctor encouraged me to drink beer, but I can't keep anything down when I have one. Doctors encourage you to pass them on your own with pain meds, unless they think you can't pass it without their help. I have not ever had one blasted or surgically removed but I have been sent to the ER several times so they could push fluids by IV.

There are several options to get you well before 80 days. See your doctor and discuss your options.

I hope you get well soon, kidney stones are not fun.

  4. Let me ask this, has anyone tried to get a price drop since Carnival has changed it to the form on their website?

The reason I ask, their form reads "All Lowest Price Guarantee claim forms must be submitted online within 48 hours of booking your cruise and verified by Carnival in order to qualify for the onboard credit."

Before this form, I would call and it wouldn't be a problem but now when I call, Carnival says you must fill out the form and Carnival will email you within 2 days (which is a lie).

My spa balcony on the Splendor has dropped $170 per person this week since I booked in January of this year

  5. We were at Mr Sancho's in May and purchased the AI. We didn't wait long for drinks or food, but we were the only ship in port that day so that might have made a difference. Also, it had some changes from when we were there in September 2013. They had a bigger buffet with a larger seating area, and they asked us to tip at the end of the day.

We ordered coconut shrimp off the menu and got our own salsa from the buffet.

We've been to several AI's in Cozumel and we prefer Mr Sancho's.

  6. This just happened to us in Sept. One lady had heart problems the day before and decided not to go. To avoid the other person bing charged the full cabin price, she decided to do a no-show. All of us had insurance and the no-show has filed paperwork to get her money back.

There were 4 of us, one room on floor 8, one room on floor 2. When we got on-board, we immediately went to guest services and discussed the issue of being together. Carnival was gracious to move our room to floor 2, 2 doors down from the other with a room that slept 3. So we had 2 rooms on floor 2, we used both to get ready and shower, and we got a $50 credit because it was considered a down grade.

About your excursion, I would tell guest services and they may be able to refund you while onboard. I'm not sure how shore excursion cancellations work but it's worth a try.

  7. We always decorate our door and the only time we've had anything "taken" was during spring break. Last year, our door received so many comments and I never got a picture of it. We did a Destiny Bucket List with pictures of things we had done, such as been on a game show, me on the 60 seconds or less game show from a previous cruise, and we had notecards with things we wanted to do, such as, put my toes in the sand in Half Moon Cay. When we would complete something on the to do notecards, we would make a big check mark. The to-do notecard that received the most comments, was "receive a kiss on the lips"...I received a Kiss on the Lips drink from someone one night at dinner that had seen our door. Also, a man asked me if he could give me my first kiss!

I explained to him it was a drink but thanked him for the offer. lol

It seemed every time we opened our door, someone would be reading our door. It was a lot of fun and I plan on doing something similar in Sept
