  1. We were on deck 7, so I can only imagine how bad it feels in the lower decks. Like I said, I don't mind the rocking at night, but this was too much. The creaking and the hard stop when it rocks added to the tremble did not let us sleep both nights. And this was a 3 night cruise!! The jumping tremble when it docks doesn't last long, but if you're sleeping, it will wake you up.

I wish I would have read about this before booking, I would have gone with the Dream. We are definitely avoiding the Wonder. If we decide to cruise with Disney again then we'll stay with the Dream.

I was on the Dream in November in two aft-ish balconies. There was tons of motion as we left port canaveral. The captain attributed this to us leaving the cooler Florida waters to the warmer Caribbean waters. Vibration was also noticeable during docking. I believe I've read that the vibration is from the thrusters moving in reverse? Our two cabins didn't mind it in the slightest. So you may still notice vibration on the Dream depending on your cabin location.

  2. Given that a crib (Pack and Play) fits in a standard cabin on all ships' date=' I can't see why you would have a problem in a concierge cabin. To find the excursions, go to the DCL web site and look up "Port Adventures." There is a drop down for each port--click on those you'll be visiting. Most people have not done more than one excursion per stop per cruise, so comments on each excursion would be very limited. I loved Tortola. We've done St.. Thomas so many times that it is rather "been there, done that." A LOT depends on your selections for the age of the child. St. Thomas has a butterfly farm (easy walking distance from Havensight dock) and Coral World that are particularly child friendly.

Magic vs. Fantasy--we prefer the Magic as it is smaller and much more intimate and friendly. However, in concierge the Fantasy has the advantage that the lounge is near the cabins. And of course, the Fantasy has Remy.[/quote']

Moki'smommy, could you elaborate on Tortola please? My mom and I are looking at this itinerary for September because Tortola would be a new port for us and we loved St. Thomas.

  3. You don't have to call them, but they may not necessarily be there waiting. They have queues for each of the rental companies, and the shuttle makes back and forth trips. When we rented from Avis in June, I'd say we waited maybe 10 minutes for our shuttle.

This is exactly what I needed to know. Thank you so much!

  4. You all were so helpful with my initial question! I have a follow up. In disembarkation day, is it fairly easy to catch the shuttle back to the rental agency? Will they be there waiting or will we need to call when we get off? Thank you for your experience!

  5. Hi!

I'm traveling with a group of 5 and want to be sure this will work before I book a rental car. If we rent a car (enterprise) at MCO to drive to port canaveral, I think we are able to drop the car at the port canaveral/cocoa beach location and they will shuttle is to the port itself. Is that correct? Has anyone done this and had it work well?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Hello!

We'll be on the Disney Dream in November (a group of 5 late 20s early 30s girls). Nassau is a port I have not experienced before. I've explored some of the ship sponsored excursions and a lot are Atlantis which I think is out of our price range and not really what we want to do. There is a glass bottom boat that we're thinking about.

I guess what I really need to know is, is it necessary to be on an excursion to do a low key beach and straw market/town shopping day? Are beaches, local eateries, straw market, etc within walking distance to the pier? I've read some safety alerts for Nassau recently as well. So, is it safe to be essentially on our own?

Thanks in advance for any help!

  7. I sailed on her when she was Destiny back in 2009. LOVE this ship. Some of my family tends to disagree with me. However we all got a kick out the pink bathrooms and "hairdryers", had a wonderful time at dinner every night, and even with 8 of us on the trip there was always something to do that appealed to each person.

This was before we tried balcony cabins even. She's a smaller ship that is easy to navigate through. The windows in the dining room are amazing. I've been on a couple of the bigger ships and on other lines since this. I think Destiny will always have a special place in my heart.

I could go on and on; but I think you get my point. [emoji6]

The view a person has of a ship is so subjective. One really has to experience it themselves to decide if "they" are right.
  8. Thanks for the replies everyone! Insurance is something that I always have when I travel and prefer to keep it that way. The rest of my group is trying to keep costs as low as possible (not that I'm not doing the same) and insurance is an extra expense that they can spend somewhere else. It's a personal preference I guess.

  9. Hi everyone!

I'm new to DCL (have cruised on carnival and RC several times) and am in the very early planning stages of a November trip. I'm hoping all the knowledgeable CC members can help me with what I'm sure are the first of many questions I will have.

-if one person wants trip insurance, does everyone in the group need to purchase it? There are 5 of us and a few would be more comfortable having it and some want to go without.

-is the insurance available through DCL good coverage and is it considered expensive?

-would it be better to buy it through another company?

    Thanks in advance for answers!
