  1. The PDF HERE lists most of the options for B/L/D. There are a few mistakes, however. Bayamo wasn't open for lunch but Pinchos was (PDF has it the opposite). Also, the "buffet overflow" for breakfast is sometimes in Margaritaville but it isn't unique items. It's just a miniature version of the Garden Buffet.

It's up to you. Tip at the time or wait until the end...it doesn't matter. You can also allocate funds using Guest Services. Just give them the name and the amount and they will give you a receipt with the same info so that you can give it to the person listed to let them know how much you gave them. You can even use OBC for it.

Thanks for sharing that link. It looks like the Gem (among others) do not have a Haven restaurant. Do the Haven guests have breakfast/lunch options in another restaurant or private access bar options?

  2. There are haven suites on the Gem (Jewel Class), but not the same as the new bigger ships. There is also the Garden Villa which is a 3 BR suite. It has just a bit more. Other than being in the highest end suite on the ship, about the only other thing is a few bottles of booze and water/mixers.

How many people are sailing with you?

There are 7 people going. We were just going to get a Haven room for ourselves but then realized our guests wouldn't enjoy the amenities so that's why we are exploring the Garden Villa. We will have the UBP so the bottles of liquor are no big deal.

  3. Hi everyone - last time I sailed I was in an aft penthouse suite on the Spirit in 2011. There was no Haven and everyone at the suite level got the same perks (I believe).

However, reading through here it seems things have changed a bit. My husband and I (recently married) are planning a family trip in about a year and want to book the Garden Villa (on the Gem) for us and a few others.

What exactly does that include, other than butler and concierge service? Do we get extra liquor? Bottled water? Dry cleaning? Limo service to the airport?

I can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere. Thanks for any help!

  4. Belize has 2 pharmacies located in the "port" once you tender in. Both were very busy while I was there and were letting people sample their ointment cream for aches.

I made two purchases for medicines that I used and did not have a prescription with me. I had no issues getting back on the ship or going through customs.

  5. NCL's Friends of Dorothy gatherings are generally unhosted social events where fellow GLBTQ members show up and just strike up conversation with each other. Each ship holds it in different venues though so you do have to check your FreeStyle daily. On the Epic it was at the Shaker's Martini Bar, on the Spirit it's at Mahrini's Bar (on the other side of the casino on Deck 7 forward) and on the Jewel it's at the Star Bar.

Just bring your extroverted self and have a great time. I do hope you have some fellow GLBT folks on your sailing. I've only been on one sailing where it was a dud and that was quite boring in the disco too!

You'll have a great time! What ship are you sailing on?

I'm on the Spirit on 7/24/11 (New Orleans). I started a roll call about 10 days ago but no replies as of yet

Thanks for the quick reply! All of the friends that you did things with, you met on the cruise or you had pre-established relationships with?
