So I’m on the June 4th trip. I think it’s outrageous that Princess will wait until the day before to notify me of a change they are well aware will happen.

Princess sent an email yesterday to our TA showing ISP is now cancelled, and Juneau is 5:30 to 10:45. So we get an effective 4 hours in Juneau and 8 hours in Skagway. More of a sea cruise than Alaskan cruise.

Also, there was no mention of any compensation other than the original $100 for cancelling Ketchikan.

  2. New to Princess and have a couple of questions. Tried to finish up all my pre boarding stuff for an Alaskan cruise in May/June. So far I’ve been able to do most of the pre work on the Medallion App, except for boarding group and dining reservations. At what point can I select my boarding group, and when can I select my dining reservations? Thank you in advance.

On board with Chris Williams, The Flying Scotsman and he has been a treat. If you ever cruise with him do NOT miss his show. Who knew that this man with a heavy Scottish accent could nail the wide spectrum of musical styles. He is a better singer than any of the production show staff.

Thats because he began his Carnival career as a Playlist Production singer.

Go to Guest Services and ask to see the week's MDR menus. It's in a binder. I check once we board the ship so we can pick which night to make reservations for the supper club. Works for us!

All the menus for the week are on the Hub app.  You can just scroll thru the days.

Wrong understanding and assumptions.    Got this today

My wife applied in March and her Diamond status with Carnival (50+ cruises) only got her a Gold card with MSC. I applied 2 years ago and got Black (now Diamond) for my Carnival Diamond. As with most things in the cruise industry, the only thing consistent is their inconsistency.

But like you said, your mileage may vary with Carnival!

Ain't that the truth. Another story about JH and Carnival.

JH has said many times that if you are doing B2B, just show both boarding passes and you can bring on 2 bottles of wine per person. So I always carried a printed out copy of him saying that. We were on a B2B a few years ago out of Galveston and we were stopped at security and told that we couldn’t take 4 bottles. We showed them the boarding passes. Nope, can’t take 4 bottles. I showed them the email from JH. Tough crap, you can’t take 4 bottles. We asked to talk to their supervisor and showed that person the boarding passes and email. Nope, tough luck, you ain’t taking 4 bottles. I asked them to contact guest services on the ship for a ruling from Carnival. They did, but I have to assume Carnival didn’t override them as we were told that they would keep our other two bottles til the B2B was over... WHAT????  Crazy...

Actually the cruise contract is non specific on bringing beverages in from ports. if you read the direct language it does not state " only " at embarkation.

No, but it ONLY says on embarkation day (which was my point - not that the word “only” after it was part of the preceding clause). Now, you’re probably thinking, well, that doesn’t preclude other days. Sure, that is one interpretation, albeit a weak one. If their intent was to allow sodas to be brought on board at any port, they would have simply left that off. It would have been easy, and clearer to simply say, “non-alcoholic beverages may be brought on in ports”. But they didn’t. They specified the day that sodas can be brought on board. There is a reason why certain things are specified...  Which is why context is also so important. Look up a little further on the contract and see what it says about bringing wine on board. It ALSO says that wine may be brought on board on embarkation day.  It doesn’t say ED only, but I’m pretty sure that statement, to them, means ED ONLY. So why would they use the same phraseology for sodas and not mean the same thing???

However, in this case, the intent and interpretation clarity, generally, is irrelevant,  as they tend to allow the practice. But, like all things Carnival, their only consistency is that they are inconsistent...

  8. On the Pride, a few years ago, we had 3 couples, who are all Diamonds, with linked reservations (we all double checked with our PVPs). When we got on the ship, we were at 3 different tables. We went to see the maitre ‘d (a well known - well liked - maitre ‘d who also is known for his singing). He was anything but helpful. And he obviously didn’t pay a lot of attention to the reservations when he was assigning seating. Eventually 2 of the couples were able to sit together at a 4 top, but the third couple was stuck at an 8 top.

    It does happen.

  9. This is news to me, so I have a few questions for anyone who has been. What days is it offered? What hours? Do you have a copy or picture of the menu?

Heard about this this on a YouTube video from July. I’m hoping it wasn’t just a one time shot on that particular cruise...

No.  I don't understand why anyone would pay for the Steakhouse, personally. I loved the food in the MDR.

I like the food in the MDR as well. But the steakhouse takes it to a whole other level. It’s an additional experience. I also like being on the ship, but I do excursions off the ship for different experiences.

I also really like the sea day brunch. Great food. But, the thought of trying crab and lobster Benedict in the steakhouse would be worth the price of admission...  😋
