  1. If I'm drinking mixed drinks, I'm more concerned about how they taste than how buzzed they'll get me, but maybe that's just me...

I agree, i drink it for the flavor. However i can i usually tell if they use well drinks versus a second tier alcohol.

Yes, I'm trying to decide how many I may drink and if it'll be worth it. I was thinking they may pour light.

If you think it's light get a shot of the alcohol that it is it and add it in front of them. But honestly i don't think they pour light. The servers and bartenders all know it could affect their tips.

  2. Sherilyn, ahh. Not sure what to say except peace be with you. You are the bravest person I've ever had the pleasure of knowing virtually. I've always enjoyed reading your posts here over the years. You're so wise and thoughtful and honest.

Virtual hugs to both of you.

Thank you so much. I have tried live my life as an honest and respectful manner and it is reassuring to hear that it was noticed and appreciated. [emoji4]

After i got home we asked about the respite care. They checked my insurance and found a bed for me in the main house... by 6pm Monday i was transported and all settled into a bed. I've been resting here ever since. The place is very nice, large private rooms and everyone has a patio to go out on to. The food isn't bad either. It's good to know that when i get really sick that they'll be taking care of me and spoiling me.

  3. Now that I eat a low carbohydrate diet, my breakfasts will be a vegetable and cheese omelet with bacon, coffee, and some fruit.

There are lots of other low carb dishes on the ship as well. I used to get my eggs Benedict without the emulate muffin... very delicious, especially if they offer seafood options. quiche without the crust as well.

Got to have some capers on bagel and lox.

Another favorite for me. Nice choice. [emoji4]

  4. I guess i should update... i continued to have multiple issues since getting this cough and could not start chemo or get my radiation. I ended up back in the hospital for a few days this week and decided to officially go into hospice. I am doing out patient care and signed the paperwork today. They provided an ambulance transport to get me home this afternoon and came out to my house to make sure I'm set up with everything i need. Monday I'll get to meet my actual nurse and case manager. Everything went so smooth and hassle free today that I'm feeling pretty confident about this decision. I have the right to leave it at any time if i wish and then return later.

  5. This is only about household soaps. They are still saying that hand sanitizer has uses and institutional anti bacterial soaps are good as well. But hand sanitizer still doesn't kill everything, good old fashioned hand washing is the way to go. I've always been the natural route myself.

In Asian countries the masks are not to protect from germs, it's from pollution. The cities and streets are barely breathable and bad die the lungs, especially in hot weather... so many people wear masks to try and negate the damage.

  6. On the Veendam in 2014 i had an incident where I was badly in need of a massage for some pain relief. I have cancer and made that very clear when i called and scheduled, they told me it wasn't going to be an issue (many places have a no cancer patient rule). I went down ready to feel better, checked in and they got me all the way through check in, undressed and on to a table. That's when they decided to decline my massage... by this point i was emotionally wrecked. They had led me from thinking all was going well to wasting my time and putting me through a difficult task (changing into robes) for nothing. I got nothing from them but a brick wall, no serious apology or even an offer to make it up to me. I left the spa almost in tears, visibly upset. A couple on the elevator with me noticed and stopped to ask me if i was okay. They took the time to listen to me, talk to me and confort me and even walked with me back to my room. It was so touching that strangers actually cared. We ended up being seated with them at a future dinner and they still remembered me and made sure i was doing better. It's refreshing to know there are good people still in this world and that humanity hasn't completely lost.

  7. I wouldn't wait. Odds are rates will go up when they toss in a drink special. If they sint fir some reason then you can call them and get your cruise package adjusted to the new deal as long as your bit past final payment date.

  8. My daughter and I will be taking our first cruise in November on the Carnival Inspiration. I'm not really a dress person and I was wondering if a nice blouse and slacks is acceptable for the formal night. Thank you for any input.

Yes, on carnival that is perfectly acceptable.

  9. You guys will LOVE this.

Literally walking out the door to the airport, and my wife gets to "get to the hospital" call.

Hahah. Had to take all my stuff out of the suitcase and pack another one.

I'm on my way to Cali, and she's on her way to Waco. [emoji23]

So she made you cancel the wing trip, lol. At least there is finally resolution though.

  10. Sometimes I get so tired of people arguing or being rude on CC. I also wonder about discord in general in the US and beyond. What is wrong with the world?:(

Then I come to this thread to see the love, compassion, and goodness that restores my faith in mankind.:) Sherilyn, you are an inspiration to us all. The help you are able to give Lois is priceless although unfortunate how you've come by your knowledge.

Lois, I'm wishing only the best for you and the same for Sherilyn. 🌞

    Thank you. [emoji169] [emoji170] [emoji171] [emoji172] [emoji173]

  11. Hi girls.....

Sherilyn, how are you doing? I got a bit a nauseous the last few days

and the Dr prescribed me something....a little pill that is too long to

    spell:eek:....it seems to have helped.

Cynthia, your last post is so true.....the red tape, BS for getting the meds?

I also hope next month's goes smoother.

Sorry i haven't been responding much. This cough is really kicking my but. Yesterday i went and saw my oncologist. When my husband left the room to get something i was surprised as he quickly closed the door and asked me how i was really doing. It's sweet how they are always looking out for me... they really care. I think he just wanted to make sure I wasn't hanging on because i felt obligation to my husband or out of guilt. I keep going back and forth in if i want more treatment or not. I finally committed to moving forward on the new chemo since i need weekly transfusions for potassium at this point.

I'm starting radiation on Friday for my knee cap after many delays. Hopefully that doesn't cause me too much fatigue.

  12. A tad bit harsh, no?

Clearly they made this decision as a COUPLE, because he did not go.

    Don't go judging others...

Maybe she PROMISED her sister she'd be there for her......

    We don't know the details......

No, not harsh at all. It's clearly my opinion and I'm not judging... I'm just saying what i would think and do if that were me. He doesn't exactly sound thrilled with the decision. If there was a logical reason for this I think he would have shared it with us. I could have said a lot more about her behavior (but then that would be judging) so i did not. You need to learn the difference between a differing opinion and judging.

  13. True, but it's hard to forget someone who had a long thread going about trying to book a handicap accessible cabin when they were not disabled.

Eek, i didn't make that connection.

So is this trip booked in the accessible room? I'm really curious now. I was going to vote for going to Alaska since it's a more limited time frame and her son is interested in it. However if it's wrongly booked in an accessible room i highly encourage changing it.

  14. I asked carnival to switch to another sailing. No dice. Even offered to go longer and at a higher category.

The worst part....her sister is not even in labor yet.

Seriously? I don't think I'd be as nice about this as you are. I'd be telling her to pack her bags and go live somewhere else (like her sister). She isn't respecting you or your finances at this point. Her sister clearly is more important than you.
