  1. I am thinking of booking a short cruise from Hamburg to Southampton in the summer. We have sailed many times with Cunard but we have never completed a short fly cruise.

I just fancied a quick trip in the summer before our longer cruise next year.

My questions that I hope you can help me with are:

What time do you fly from Stansted to Hamburg?

Do Cunard provide a transfer from the airport to the port on a saver fare?

If I leave my car at the airport do Cunard provide a coach return?

Thank you in advance for your help.

  2. We are on a 2 night trip in February and we have not yet sailed out of The Mayflower Ternminal. We have booked our parking through CPS as we normally do.

Can anyone tell me where the car park is? Do we park up nearby and take our bags to the waiting porters or is the parking too far.

Thank you in advance for responses.

  3. If you like a walk - there is a nice walk (about 1 hr) past Fort George where the cliff path runs through the woods to Fermain Bay where there is a small beach and lovely cafe. Wonderful views of the ship at anchor from the cliff path.

Is the walk well signposted? Sounds like it might be a plan for our short time.

Also how long does the bus around take?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. I have booked a short two night cruise for my wife to Guernsey. We have travelled on cunard before but wanted to try something different.

We are looking forward to sailing on the Britannia and we are not too bothered about the negative reviews that have been posted as we are going to be escaping the kids and we just want to switch off for two nights. ( I say escaping the kids- I havent asked the granparents yet to come to our rescue.)

    So my questions are :

    1) my planner states that we have one formal night. As we will be on for two nights, do you think it will be on the second night?

    2) is there anything to actually do in Guernsey on a Sunday?

    3) are tenders allocated on a first come first served basis?

    4) is it worth booking speciality dining? ( it's my wife's birthday on the Sunday) And if so which one?

    5) spa packages- can you pre-book a hydro spa thingy. Ot if I buy a treatment can we use the spa and retreat all day.

    6) three ships are leaving that day. On average how bad is the traffic?

    And last question for now...

    7) I have booked parking through CPS. As it is a 2 night cruise will I be self parking? If it is -is it relatively stress free.

Thank you in adavance for your knowledge and words of wisdom.

  5. I am taking my wife on the Britannia for a two night cruise in April for her birthday.

I was thinking of pre-booking one of the speciality restaurants. We may though feel like relaxing and not use the booking.

So my question is that do we lose our payment if we decide that we don't like the menu when we get on board.

    Thanks

  6. During our Christmas QE tour to Amsterdam last year that never made it to Amsterdam, Martin Bell was our speaker. We missed his main talks but we happened to sit in on an extra talk he did about his poems in the Garden Lounge . I never knew he wrote poems. They were very funny. And even my 18 month year old daughter and three year old son sat still long enough for my wife and I to enjoy it. Which was nice!

  7. Thanks for the reply Scriv.

I would love to know about your travel arrangements. Did you leave your car in Southampton or at the airport? When I spoke to Cunard today they informed me that I could leave my car at the airport and then travel with Cunard to Southampton. However this would be a big journey on the day of departing.

Also what time was your flight home.

    Thanks

  8. It's a shame you felt you couldn't get up and have a dance. I had the pleasure of taking my 18 month old daughter on the QE last Christmas to Amsterdam. We spent 10 minutes or so dancing around the ball room to the pleasure and displeasure of many dancers. To the ones who made nice comments we had a giggle together. To the ones who tutted... well they could just whistle! We had paid our money and I was dancing for the first time with my princess.

Hopefully next time you will feel a little more confident.

  9. My family and I will be travelling on the Queen Elizabeth on the 4 night cruise to Amsterdam for the Christmas Markets. I will will try and write a blog of our trip focusing especially on what a family can really manage with two children.

My children are 3 ( with his fourth birthday onboard) and 1. Our cruise is all about spending time together and enjoying the Cunard experience.

If you have any questions about life on board with the children then please feel free to ask and I will try and find out the answers on board for you.

    Regards

  10. Can anyone tell me the prices of the perfume and aftershave onboard.

Are the costs similar to that in the uk shops.

I will be travelling on the 19th of December and I was wondering if I would pick up any bargains onboard?

Thanks for any info you can provide.
