A prediction about the coronavirus from a serious journalistic source -- this week's edition of the Economist magazine:
"Many governments have been signalling that they will stop the disease. Instead, they need to start preparing people for the onslaught. A broad guess is that 25-70% of the population of any epidemic country may be infected. Experts say that the virus may be five to ten times as lethal as seasonal flu, which, with a fatality rate of 0.1%, kills 60,000 Americans in a bad year. Across the world, the death toll could be in the millions."
As a result, we are having second thoughts about our upcoming AMA river cruise on the Rhine river from Amsterdam to Basel in June. German media are reporting around 1,000 people have been quarantined in that country's most populous district of Heinsberg, in North Rhine-Westphalia.
We don't depart until June 15, we are all in our late 60s, and of one of our party has a poor respiratory system. We hope the outbreak in Europe will be brought under control before we have to leave, but if not we will be cancelling.
Well then,The Economist should be recommending investments
in funeral parlors and paper tissues for all the crying that's going to go on.

On board the Regal Princess. Despite the warning by Carnival Corp., A guy dressed in all black with a black tee shirt which exclaimed "Liberals Suck" with a picture of a machine gun on the front. I notified security who found the guy and asked him to change and not to repeat the provocation. Turns out he was an ex police officer. Damn frightening.

Has anyone recently sailed with the remarkable Cruise Director Fernando. Also, the brilliant lounge pianist who was a regular on Silverspirt, Amadeo. Can anyone say where they are these days? Are they still sailing with Silversea?

The real African Explorer, as everyone knows was Groucho Marx in "A Night at the Opera"
Perhaps you will remember:
My name is Captain Spaulding, The African Explorer, did someone call me Schnorer, Hooray, Hooray, Hooray.
He went into the jungle, Where all the monkeys throw nuts.
Spaulding: If I stay here I'll go nuts.
Crowd: Hooray hooray hooray.
Spirit, Mar 15 departing Mumbai
in Silversea

I just visited the My SS website and see no mention of cancellation Dubai to Athens 3/25. I am on with a BtoB Athens to Venice. I would imagine a detailed cancellation will be forthcoming tomorrow. On a Sunday, how did your agent get this info?
