  1. We are going on an Alaskan cruise June 2018, with a stop in Victoria....we have done this exact itinerary in 2016 and visited the Craigdaroch castle, However this time we want to try something new. We are in port from 7:30pm - midnight and we are considering taking a taxi from the port and going to parlement, Butchart gardens, china town. Other than this we aren't sure what the MUST SEES are and how much a taxi for 4 people from the port would be or how long of a drive it is....any advise on what we can do on our own would help immensely.

  2. How to get to stone island from the cruise ship?

What is the tractor ride I have heard about?

What is the best place to eat there where we can sit under a papala in a relaxing layed back pool chair, enjoy cocktails, be close to the water and have access to restrooms????

Ive heard some people getting sick from food, saying they have rugged restrooms with no power, etc...I'm having some reservations and need some facts!! Thanks!

  3. We are going on a couples cruise in September. My husband and I and our best friends. We are all in our 40's, our friends were in a motorcycle accident about a year ago but she friend is not completely 100%, she walks fine now but isn't as "quick on her feet" and can't jump etc...she is healed but limited. Will she be able to get on and off the water taxis at the arches??...we REALLY want to visit the beaches there and not just view it from the boat.

Also is it difficult for heavier people to get off and on the water taxi??... We don't want a special day ruined by embarrassment.:o Is there anyway to travel to the arches on a boat with stairs or on a larger boat that can beach itself so that limited / handicap people can get on and off safely??

Thank you for any help, and advise!

  4. We will be cruising there in September - October this year, I will prepare for the heat and humidity that is for sure!!! No long walking excursions for us - we will stick to AC rides if possible and Shaded beach areas when available!! My hair will be out of control but I will prepare for that too with anti-humidity spray!! No temp - humidity will ruin out good time!!

  5. We never pre-pay. Personally I like the old cash in envelope method of tipping....Oh the good old cruising days!:) I understand with changes and anytime dining etc, it is not always possible.

We still always give additional cash tips to our room staff, beyond the automatic tips charged to our S&S card...because we have always been lucky enough to get such exceptional service!

  6. We will be on the Legend in June on an Alaskan cruise that begins and ends in Seattle WA. We are wondering if we schedule our return flight time for 10:43am if that will allow us enough time to get off the ship and get to the airport??? The only other flight time on that airline is at 3:30pm getting us home at almost 11pm!! :o

I know when we have cruised out of Miami and Cape Canaveral we are always at the airport by 8:30-9am waiting for our 2:00 flight wishing we would have booked an earlier return.

  7. I love to hear that I am not the only one who feels like this. :o

We have taken many land vacations in between our cruises. We have done all inclusive resorts, Disney World, time shares, Universal theme parks etc...but by reading all of your posts I realize we have made a few mistakes along our vacation path. ;)

Thank you all for the wonderful advice! I am going to soak it all in and listen to your suggestions. :)

    1) We are going to try different cruise lines

    2) We are going to try new ports

    3) We are going to avoid the caribbean for a few years

    4) We are going to try new excursions that are out of our "normal" choices

    5) We ARE going to get our butterflies back!!!!! :D

  8. WE are blessed beyond belief so please don't take this as us being ungrateful. :o

My DH and I are in our late 30's. We have cruised with our daughters, other family, & friends. When we were on last cruise this past February on the Carnival Breeze with friends we both confided in one another that we have both lost those awesome "butterflies" that cruising usually gives us.

We live in the Midwest with long winters so for us it seemed only natural to take a break from our winter months and enjoy some tropical sun. Thus, we have only cruised in the Caribbean (exotic southern, eastern, & western) and it got to the point that all the beaches seemed the same, all the snorkeling looked the same, all the islands were just blending together. Same stuff, different port kind of thing. We still had a good time, don't get me wrong but it has just lost its big excitement. :(

That is the primary reason why we have decided to take the Alaskan cruise next. We hope with the drastic new change in the cruise scenery that we will get our "butterflies" back for cruising. :D

Has this happened to anyone else?? What else could we do to get those cruise "butterflies" back?? Are we just past the "honeymoon stage" of cruising now so this is how it will be from now on???.....or will we get the crazy, I can't sleep the night before excitement back???

  9. I have actually noticed that door decorating has become less popular. At least on our last few cruises it was. Our last cruise we only saw 1 door that had a sign and decoration on it. We did see a few people who tied curling ribbon on the "mailbox" right outside there door to find their room easier.

  10. You don't need them unless you like to plan every little detail ahead of time....which can be helpful if you are traveling with a big group. You can plan ahead who's doing what when instead of trying to gather everyone together and waisting precious cruise time figuring it out The only thing I like to know ahead of time is which nights are the "formal nights". :) The rest can be a surprise!:D

  11. send me an email at Leanne.ireland@rogers.com and I can send you a copy of the Club 02 schedule. It was too large for me to post.

As for theme nights do you mean on the ship? If so there were not any theme nights. They do have 2 deck parties on the 8 day cruise.

As for the ropes course running shoes are mandatory as well as dry shorts and a top. They will not let you on with a wet bathing suit underneath your clothes

    e-mail sent, Thanks!!! :D

  12. 1) Traveling with 5 teens on the BREEZE in 4 weeks!! We have read on the sample club o2 and circle c schedules that there are themed night but they are OLD samples so not sure what to expect and our teens would like to be prepared so anybody recently off the breeze that could help us out with info or copies of club o2 or cicle c schedules would be GREAT!

    2) Everyone in our group wants to go on the ropes course so wondering if we need to wear tennis shoes for this or if sandles/flip flops are acceptable??

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

  13. on the Dream, we also had to go out an line up for the later adults only show. When they open the doors people sneek in from the sides instead of getting "in line" like the rest of us which is frustrating and those comedy show lovers get crazy too, they run, push and shove to get seats! At least that was my experience on the Dream. Hope the Breeze is a bit more civilized. :p

  14. we have cruised in March on the Dream with no problems with "spring breakers".....I actually thought the cruise parties and night clubs were pretty tame. Personally, I would trade in a few of the stuffy grumpy people for happy fun filled spirits ANYDAY!!!! Our cruise MOTO is HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! :D No matter how many crying toddlers, wild teens, crazy college students or cranky old people are on our sailings we smile on through and have the time of our lives!!! :D

  15. This is the ONLY thing on all my cruises that I have even remotely found to "complain" about. I stick to the fruit desserts ONLY which are the best and usually taste good and the cookies and ice-cream are always good but the beautiful cakes are completely a waist of colories as they taste like NOTHING!!!
