I do not believe you are in the right forum to ask about travel to the Philippines. This site is mainly for cruisers. But for extended vacation, try the following site: https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowForum-g294245-i3256-Philippines.html where you can post your queries and you will get your responses. And please indicate your vacation budget, your interests (beaches, culture, history, etc.) Hope this helps.

On my last cruise, one of the crews I spoke to told me that although they no longer get the base salary ($50 per month) like they used to before the automatic tipping was implemented, they are happy to get a percentage of the total basic service charge/gratuities. Behind the scenes staff get a share of them. If the waiter, asst. waiter or the room attendant provided us with exceptional service, we tip them in cash. Now having said that, whether you want to tip automatically or tip the staff yourself at the end of the cruise is always your discretion.

Just came back yesterday from our Southern Caribbean cruise including St. Lucia. Our group of 10 people booked with James for an exclusive and private tour. Contacted James via email and he responded quickly and even called me twice in Canada to provide us with his rate based on the itinerary tailored to our interest. He is a very safe driver while his tour guide, Jan, is very knowledgeable and accommodating. He provided us with free beverages, beers and 'happy pop' (rum punch) as well as authentic flavors from hot off the oven Creole bread with goat cheese. He made stops at the plantation to sample fares from bananas and banana chips, drove to small towns through Anse La Raye, Soufriere, Canaries, etc; sulphur springs with optional mud baths, after which he took us to a waterfall where you can also take a dip. He also scheduled a wonderful hot lunch of local cuisine (included in the rate) at Beacon Restaurant, above a cliff overlooking the Pitons. His rate included admissions to the Sulphur Springs, Waterfall and a delectable lunch at the restaurant. Stay positive - James will respond to all emails.

Just completed 10 day cruise to Greece & Italy on NCL Breakaway. If you can arrange a car service to Civi, have a look at Hotel Smart Cruise. It is a very clean boutique hotel with an outstanding service. The free shuttle to the cruise terminal is just literally a few steps away. This location is also walkable to the seaside promenade with lots of dining options.
