  1. Do you only have 1 slot per day with the Thermal pass and is that a timed slot?  We have used the thermal spa on other ships and we just went when we fancied it....would  spoil experience  if we were restricted to a certain time and duration . Can you just ring the spa before hand to book or have to reserve the day before. I'm hoping everything is open, found the thermal spa a great addition to a cruise.

  2. I feel your pain. We just booked the Ovation 18 night transpacific and our pre-paid gratuities were $522.00. Even more painful knowing a lot of cheapos on the cruise will remove the tips.

Yes I agree the staff work so hard seems harsh to remove tips, although I much preferred it when you got the vouchers and gave them to every one that had served you, at least if the people removing tips had the shame of not giving a voucher to their room steward, waiter etc it may make them think twice. I do like to tip separately too though, giving the staff that have given me great service a little extra. I actually thought that RCI had the policy that tips could not be removed....guess I was wrong

  3. Hi there! How much is the RCI train to Rome please. I believe we travelled on the train before whilst sailing on the Liberty of the Seas and the station in Rome was near to the Vatican. We explored Rome, had lunch:cool::cool: and then back in time for a train back to the station on the port but it was a while go. Can not remember if you can just book tickets for the train on board the ship , whether its part of an excursion or if you can book tickets on line.

  4. It's crew only / access / service area /stairs & possibly storage, nothing to access for passengers - friends and you will just have to do a little walking exercise around the corners (it's relatively short) - either toward the front/FWD cabins or back toward stairs/elevators & around.

If sea conditions are rough, just hold on to the rails especially if you decided to walk toward the FWD area - there should be very little foot traffic anyway. Unless you are planning to meet & sit in the staterooms to chat, just call on the stateroom phone & meet them by the stairs/elevators.

    Enjoy your cruise !

thank you for your reply.....yes you right the exercise will do us good!!! and as inside cabins we wont need to visit each others rooms......call and meet by the lifts is best bet!!! lol

  5. Here's a link to still pictures on a YT video - Star's Inside Cabin #4505 - taken in 2015, about as recent as it can be.

We had the old "tube" style TV but like the Jewel & Gem, been upgraded to HDTV, nothing fancy & still smallish. As you can see from one of the picture, there's about 4 open shelves inside the closet - tip, see if you can find the closet light switch (hint - toward the back wall panel near the hanging bar)

plus several real sliding drawers on the bottom.

We travel everywhere with our packing cubes, made unpacking & storage easy - eBags & Eagle Creeks, plus the bargain ones from Ikea, everything organized & never spill out, no matter how rough the seas are, LOL :D

Hi we are going away with friends and have book cabins 9615 and 9115 on different sides of ship (NCL STAR) On the deck plan there is a space which looks like it could be an internal corridor, can you tell us if you can access cabins from each side of the ship without leaving the corridor and going past lifts/stairs....thank you

  6. We currently are booked on Escape in Sept. But after doing some more reading it seems like Allue may be better for us. Its my wife and I a 7 and 11 year old. It seems to me the activites for kids are better for kids on RC then NC. The lack of water slides is not an issue. It seems from reading other threads NC night life is better but with 2 kids dont need all that. Wife is intriged by the central park and boardwalk areas as well as the aqua theater. Did not really hear any concerns from her about the ship intentary. Escape is newer but concerns I read are smokey, small pool deck, some rooms can be loud, and ship movement. Price difference isnt bad although free ubp and free specialty dining are a plus. Itentaries are about the same, RC st marten NC tortola is the difference. Looking more for a better experence for the kids. Thoughts?

FYI posted in both RCL and NCL threads

We have been on the Escape and The Oasis which is the same as the Allure. We would recommend hands down on the RCL ship. It has loads to do and in our opinion a far superior ship. We did not really care for the Escape, we felt the drinks were overpriced and a lot of the speciality restaurants were Al la carte, we much preferred the dining on Oasis and the Solarium speciality restaurant in the evening was amazing. I would recommend on any cruise to get a drinks package though if you like a tipple.....we paid nearly $20 for 2

beers on the escape with added taxes and tips..

  7. Yes, we had the a la carte menu at Cagney's when we sailed on Jade mid-January.

Hi, do you know how the prepaid dining packages work on al la carte...we have paid up front for 3 days in a speciality venue but not sure what this means if the restaurant is al la carte...as most of them seem to be now ..thanks for your help
