  1. We visited Roma on the 18th May and we booked Rome In Limo from our previous Cruise excursion experience with them in Naples last year.

From the communication in advance with Jany, who was very prompt in feedback to Mike our Driver and Nicole, our Vatican Tour Guide….they did not let us down.

Mike was there early to meet us off our Cruise Ship and for the next hour and a half provided a wealth of information on the day and Roma.

Our comfortable 8 seater luxury mini van allowed us to places where Cruise ship excursions are simply not allowed so we got to within yards of the main areas including the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, The Coliseum and outside The Vatican Museum. Drop off and collection was so simple.

This also allowed us to see other areas of the City with a fantastic insight from Mike together with memorable photographs with views over the City.

A few tips for the day:

Most definitely book tickets in advance, Mike took our tickets and breezed us passed the queues, we were in The Coliseum in no time.

Get information on sites in advance such as Rick Steves podcast of The Coliseum, this will help beat the queues inside.

We strongly suggest a Tour Guide for The Vatican Museum, we were focussed and so better informed with Nicole sharing information as we toured the site rather than walk aimlessly as so many other did.

On the day we visited arrangements had to be changed due to Vatican implemented plans so we were not allowed to visit the Basilica or indeed get into St Peters Square, however Nicole reduced her guide fee and Mike bought Us a Gelati in readiness for the return journey back to the Port…at least we have a reason to visit again.

All in all we had a thrilling day and the 3 other couples who joined us have since confirmed the excursion in Roma with RIL was the highlight of the Cruise, we definitely agree.

Do not hesitate to consider RIL, there are so many benefits over a Cruise Company organised excursion.

  2. We were on an RIL excursion with fellow Cruisers out of Livorno last August and had a fantastic day visiting Pisa, onto Florence and then onto a Vineyard arranged that morning at the request of wine lovers with Us, who have since become firm friends across the Seas.

The day was excellent and well organised in terms of safety and communication regards location & timings for drop off/pick up, information and flexibility for the day...all completed with good time back to the Ship on time.

There were 8 of Us in the clean, airy Van and it created a nice, fun atmosphere especially after Lunch with the wine flowing....not the Driver of course !!

We can recommend RIL with confidence and proof of the pudding...we have booked their Rome excursion for our next cruise in May.

  3. Sailed August 27th 2012 out of Barcelona

    Deck - 8

    Cabin - 8279

    Class - 1A

    Port Side

Bed near bath - good access to wardrobes

Quiet Cabin overall but did hear some noise from elevator due to proximity and the odd noise/squeak during quiet of night

Balcony View – Full view of ocean out and aft, but awkward forward due to angle.

    Balcony Size – Large balcony

Was wind a problem? – No problem with wind or any stack gas or soot.

Any specific problems with this cabin - None

Any other comments – Cabin is recommended, proximity to elevators more a convenience than inconvenience.

  4. Solstice

    Deck - 11

    Cabin # - 1540

    Class – Aqua

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – Balcony

Quiet Cabin – Yes, not far from elevators and staff doorway but no issue, no noise from above either.

Balcony View – Good view forward to the bridge, good view back with minor obstruction of cleaning ladder a few rooms away but this is not a problem....more to think about for photographs tbh.

Balcony Size? Normal, no overhang and glorious sunshine to enjoy

Was wind a problem? Not a real problem provided you closed the door with card or something to force the worn seal on the bottom of the sliding door.

The partition outside between our room and the disabled cabin to the left had card in place to stop rattling, this came out one night, minor irritant until I sussed it out..

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? None

Any other comments? We suffered from motion sickness for the first time ever, this is our issue but it got a bit lively up there one night in high winds...

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) –

Very Quiet, no noise from Public areas below, some vibration when arriving at Port early mornings

Balcony View - Despite lifeboats at this level, they do not obstruct view out to see when on balcony or lying on the bed watching the world go by, no issue....

    Balcony Size? Normal

Was wind a problem ? No Issue

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem ? No Issue

Any specific problems with this cabin ? Fantastic Value for Money
