  1. My son inherited my Diamond status when he was under 18. Now, several years later, he still has the status, but not the point total. That is accurate with the number he has earned on his own. Daughter is Diamond in her own right, but also reflects her proper point total she sailed.

Fast forward to now. Cruising with my granddaughter soon and we will see how her status reflects after her first sailing. Talked to the C&A Dept and the lady I spoke to insisted that they will only status match with only the father or mother at the request of the parent. So much for mixed family units. 🤦‍♀️ Stay tuned....

  2. If you have read the generic description, then you should know that you can order any single drink from any bar (no buckets of beer or bottles of wine (which are discounted)). The package will cover the first $15 of the cost of any drink. You pay for the cost over $15 plus 18% gratuity on the cost over $15.

I appreciate the response, but a kinder one would obviously be more appropriate than the condescending one you chose to post. If you read the actual TOS, it is more exclusionary than just being that simple. Such as, even though they are on the bar menu, there are also no energy drinks, fresh squeezed juices, etc.... as shown below. It says no Super Premium Brands, but doesn't say anything about Ultimate Premium brands? :tropical-drink:

"The Ultimate Beverage Package does not include room service, package sales, ship specific promotions or beer buckets, designated Super Premium brands (subject to change), bottled wine, mini bar purchases, bottled water, fresh squeezed juices, select Lavazza coffee beverages, energy drinks, vending machines, wine stations or spirits, cocktails, draft or bottled beer and glasses of wine over $15 USD."

I will say a very big thanks to those of you who were kind enough to post a nice response. :* I have the answer to my question through your kindness! :halo:

  3. First time NCL cruiser here!.... but not my first cruise. :D

Does anybody have a current list of UBP beverages? Yes, I have read the generic description from the website, but I am looking for a detailed list. I found a couple that are from 2 or 3 years ago, but you would like to see what is actually included. Is it the actual bar menu minus some things or what?

  4. I have no problem with FTTF, it's the 2 Platinum people in front of me, one with 8 family members in 4 cabins on their credit card and the other with 12 family members in 6 cabins on their credit card. Then they state, as soon as we get on board, you can go to customer service and set up your own account! So those behind them are waiting 30-40 minutes to get checked in!

Found this old thread and wanted to give my recent experience two cents worth here. :p

I sailed last week from Long Beach and found the FTTF program to be somewhat of an issue. Those waiting in the priority departure lounge couldn't even make it anywhere near the front half of the line because of the cattle crowding method going on. There were literally 250-300 people crowding to get further ahead in the boarding line. Numerous people clutching their FTTF papers as well as numerous piggy-back cruisers on Platinums. One family in front of me had in excess of 10 people in their party including several blue cards. That family had ONE Platinum member. Also witnessed a similar situation on the last day in the departure lounge as we saw it grow from past numbers of 15 or 20 people to close to 80 in there once again also doing the piggy back ride. :(

A word of advice, Carnival, don't let that extra $50 alienate your Platinums. FTTF is fine, but give them all the group 1 cards and general boarding then would begin with group 2 cards. ;)

  5. We are on board the Inspiration this week and confirmed with Guest Services that the backup generator was installed during the drydock. They also repaired a few electrical and plumbing issues. There are a few cosmetic things that they did as well. Mostly just replaced carpet. Also installed new lighted signage in the buffet area.

  6. Why does anyone bother with the added space taken and weight with taking hangers when your cabin attendant will bring all you need. Never had a problem with just asking as soon as we meet him/her.
I've had stewards tell me they are out of hangers, or only bring 3-4, and it's always after I've unpacked. It's just easier to toss in a few of my own.

I have had them say on more than one occasion that they were out of extra hangers. The flimsy throw away ones when you buy clothes are perfect. They fit in the outside pocket of the suitcase wonderfully. The couple of ounces they weigh is worth the peace of mind.

  7. As far as clothing hangers go... when I buy new clothing and end up with the plastic hangers from the store, I keep them and throw several in my suitcase for each cruise. The room they take up on the trip out is usually filled on the way back with souvenirs that I purchase on the voyage. I just leave them in the cabin when we pack up. That way, I know I am taking the clip kind that can hang skirts and pants without them being wrinkled.

The other thing I take, that folds down almost flat, is a collapsible clothing organizer. It has a powerful velcro loop that attaches to the closet rod and can support a lot of weight. It fits in the outside pocket of my suitcase easily. Undergarments and such can be packed in gallon size baggies and then just slipped into one of these compartments. Saves from having to use the drawers in the cabin that probably aren't sanitized between guest uses.

  8. Just got back from the Dawn. There was only one outlet in the cabin so bring an extension cord if you plan on charging your phone etc. We had phones and laptops to charge.

Agreed! I personally own and use the following as it has prongs that can pivot so it will fit just about anywhere. An added bonus is the USB ports on the end of it. :D

I bring along a mini-pharmacy... remember you can't just go to the pharmacy for meds when you are out in the middle of the ocean. I was caught in that situation on one of my first cruises. I don't feel like paying $10.00 for 6 ibuprofen again. All of my meds fit into one toiletry bag. These little bags help. Eliminating excess packaging saves tons of space. I cut out the directions and ingredients from the box and put them inside each bag with the pills. Labels from prescriptions also fit nicely on the outside of each little bag. I buy my bags at CVS. http://www.cvs.com/shop/product-detail/CVS-Disposable-Medical-Bags?skuId=407149

This is also gives great ideas for space saving meds. http://www.tamiasoutside.com/2011/07/16/firstaid/

  10. The Elder God notes that they ask for your home address and part of your social security number to distinguish between people with the same name.

I have never been asked for my social security number for booking a cruise. and when aasked for the SS # on my funpass I add all zeros

They can match by your legal name and DOB... both of which you must provide and do verify before boarding with your ID.

  11. To take your chances means if you are denied entry you must find a way to return home which will be costly. You may also be detained for quite some time just because the authorities "can".

When the passport is scanned the red light goes on if you have any criminal activity.

You have to apply to the consulate to be allowed into the country.

I didn't know the scanners had red lights.

  12. Ah. Found it here:

Well, this trip turned out to be a disaster in the making. Long story short - my MIL's parents (who are in their 90's) were involved in a bad car accident and it was touch and go for a few days so we decided as a group to tell my inlaws about the surprise cruise and we all decided that now was not the time to be going on a cruise considering the my MIL's parents were needing to be moved from the hospital to a nursing home to recover. We decided as a group to move the anniversary cruise to February. This is where RCCL customer service shinned. They were extremely accomodating in letting us move our cruise to February (Caribbean) - we did have insurance so maybe that is why we did not receive any pushback. My husband and I decided to go ahead and go on the Alaskan cruise because we had already scheduled the time off and we needed a break from work. 7 days before departure my husband found out he was not able to take time off from work on July 3rd so we scrammbled and invited my 22 yr old son to join me. He was a complete trooper being the only person on board his age. I was certainly glad he went along - we made the most of the cruise and I actually felt pretty young for the first time in a long time :D.

I can tell you that I do not think that my BIL would have been allowed in Vancouver - they swiped our passports and clearly waited for something to pop up on their screen before stamping us through. I am certain that this is where his DWI would have popped up. I do believe that the NCIC database is tied to the passport scans. I would not suggest anyone try to sneak through immigration with a record because I think you will be stopped.

  13. I absolutely promise to post a response to these buring questions. I will let you know if my BIL is allowed entry and able to board the cruise ship - thank you everyone for your help and advice on this matter. I think I have given myself an ulser of this and I am going to step away and let the chips fall where they may. I know DH and I are going to have a fabulous time on the cruise. Being a control freak that I am and always wanting everything to be perfect I need to stop and realize that this is out of my control and just pray that what my BIL has been told by the canadian immigration department is true.

Nothing will make me happier than to see the look on my MIL's face when she comes down for dinner and see's her ENTIRE family there.

I would like to know the outcome of this situation. I would assume that the cruise has been over for a couple weeks now.
