  1. The bacon-wrapped dates and the pork belly were two of my favorite dishes I had on the ship. Absolutely fantastic, and a great value. We used one SDP meal for a dinner then went back twice for lunch and just paid for a few dishes with onboard credit.

  2. First of all, I’m not a guy. Secondly, washy is smart enough to recognize that I was joking. I’m not sure what your problem is.
I couldn't have all too much less of a problem than I do. Sorry you perceived that to be the case, but that's on you. You forgot to use your sarcasm font in your multiple posts so some people may not have known you were joking. For those people that come here looking for info, I wanted them to get the right info. Nudity in spas is pretty common outside the US so it's entirely possible that you could have been posting about spas in general and not specifically NCL spas. Again, sorry you thought I had a problem and that my generic use of the word "guy" upset you so much. Consider treating yourself to a relaxing spa day (with or without clothes) to chill out a bit.
  3. Also do most people go in wearing their normal clothes, and then change into a robe in the locker room?

Just depends on your preference and if you are coming directly from your room or another activity. Totally up to you. The locker room will have free lockers and robes/towels.

Naked under a towel. I've told you this. That's what everyone does.

Don't listen to this guy. This is just blatantly not true. I've been in the Thermal Spa on multiple ships, visited the spa every day, and never once saw anybody naked. Nudity is not allowed. Every single person in the spa has a bathing suit on.

My advice: go to the spa and just enjoy it. Don't go in with preconceived ideas of what it will be. You will love it. It is the most relaxing place on the ship.

  4. Where are you coming from and how are you getting to NYC? If you are driving, look for hotels in NJ that have cruise packages. I stayed at a Hilton, parked our car there for the week, had breakfast, and had a private driver take us to the port and pick us up after our cruise. All for around $200. Insanely good deal. If that is an option for you and you want more info I can try to find out the exact details.

  5. Thank you all for the responses. I've talked it over with the group I'm going with and we decided to venture out. Maybe do a tour or take a taxi shuttle to a beautiful beach!

Excellent decision. As I mentioned earlier, we got a driver for the day to show us around the island. That is a great way to get a feel for Roatan and see a lot of different areas. If the poverty/underprivileged children is something you'd like to help, consider bringing some school supplies and asking to stop by a school to donate. We stopped at an elementary school with a bag full of markers, pens, and craft supplies and all of the kids were so unbelievably excited and grateful. It's an easy way to make a direct positive impact.

Enjoy your cruise! Be sure to come back and let us know how you liked Roatan.

  6. On my recent Escape cruise I had several Smoke Fashions from the Tobacco Road bar. Absolutely fantastic drink and the artistry that went in to making them was great. I'm trying to recreate the drink at home. I have the ingredient list but didn't pay close enough attention to the exact measurements they used for each. Does anybody happen to have the full recipe or a video of them making this drink? Thanks!

  7. Myself my DD, my sister and her Dd all want to get the therma spa for our upcoming trip. They’ll book there’s ahead of time but we need to wait until we are onboard. My daughter has chronic migraines (thus wanting a nice quiet area to relax) but sometimes smells trigger the migraines. I know the spa part where you go for massages always smells of essential oils. But does the thermal suite smell of this also? Might be a deal breaker. We are going on the breakaway transatlantic and figured thecwarmer spa area would be very nice

I did not notice any essential oils smells in the Breakaway or Escape Thermal Spas. The only area that she may have a problem with is the steam room as they do pump in quite a bit of eucalyptus. The other saunas and rooms have no odor though.

  8. Just to add another data point to this thread, here are my observations from sailing on the Escape this month.

I am very sensitive to smoke and truly hate it. My brother who i was cruising with has severe asthma and can't handle cigarette smoke at all. Neither of us had any issue on the Escape. We spent plenty of time around the 678 atrium, casino, Skyline bar, etc. and never had to leave because of the smoke. Perhaps we got lucky and were just on a less smoky cruise. The only time I coughed on smoke was when I went to the bar above the main pool area that allows smoking.

Hi, I read on the NCL site that smoking is allowed on the Starboard side of he Waterfront, as long as not near eating establishments. Would we be able to smell smoke from our balcony in a BX room all the way forward in deck 8? Thank you

I'd imagine you'll be fine in that location. The Waterfront does not go all the way forward and I rarely ever saw anybody smoking out there except occasionally at 5 O'clock Somewhere. If the ship is moving that would also push the smoke aft and away from your balcony. Hopefully somewhere with better first hand knowledge of those staterooms will chime in though.

  9. Does anyone know when Tyler was let go? I was on the 1/6/18 cruise and noticed that he wasn't around or making announcements the last 1-2 days of that cruise but just assumed he was sick or had time off at the end of the week. It sucks that he apparently made some poor decision as he really was a great presence throughout the ship. I don't normally notice who the CD is but Tyler most definitely was memorable and fun.

  10. The Thermal Spa is definitely NOT just a couples thing. I have gotten week long passes for myself and my brother on one cruise and myself and my mom on another. I'm most definitely not in a relationship with either of them and we felt totally comfortable using the spa together or by ourselves. It's just a really nice, quiet, relaxing space. Great for naps, reading, or just treating your body to some amazing relaxation.

She'll be fine in there on her own.

  11. You will have no problem fitting 3 adults in there. I've sailed with 4 in a balcony cabin on Epic with the awful bathroom design and it worked out just fine. Add in the fact that you have the Spa for additional showering space and it's even less of an issue.

Also, I can confirm that your picture does show when ordering drinks. I saw someone get denied last week on Escape because he didn't match the picture on the card he tried to use.

  12. Just off the Escape last week and what you are looking for can be found at the Skyline Bar. The DJ played there with a full dance floor until at least 2:30am every night. This may differ cruise to cruise but it seemed like the earlier music and dancing was at H2O and then moved to Skyline.

O'Sheehans is open around the clock for late night food.

  13. I would. I think paying even $20 more per day is a steal considering room size and fresh air.

To each his own. Hope we all enjoy where we wind up.

There is no doubt that a balcony is much better than an interior room and probably worth more than I bid. However, we booked Thermal Spa passes so I was fine using that as my "upgrade" and going with a lower bid for the balcony. Everyone has their own opinions on value and their own budget. And you're right, as long as you're happy. After all the worst room on a cruise ship still beats a nice room not on a cruise ship.

  14. I just got the decline email so I figured I'll share the details.

    Ship: NCL Escape

    Sail Date: 1/6/18

    Original room: Interior (IC)

    Bid for: Balcony

Bid amount: $55-65/pp. Fluctuated a few time but settled on $65.

RESULT: Declined 48 hours before sailing

Obviously I would have loved to surprise my brother with a balcony for his first cruise but we will have a great trip regardless and will just have more reason to spend as much time as possible exploring all the ship has to offer. And I just made $130 that I had already spent in my mind so that's a nice bonus. There were a lot of balcony and mini suite rooms available for booking as of a few days ago so I thought there was a chance we'd get it.

  15. I am trying to access and print my eDocs and luggage tags for a cruise this weekend. When I click on any of the "Download eDocs" links it takes me to a login page pre-filled with my reservation number, last name, and first initial. At the top it says "The reservation is not yet READY to be retrieved. Try again." Nothing happens when I click to login though. I have logged out of and back in to MyNCL but still have the same issue. Any ideas why this could be happening?
