  1. Nothing jarring and no banging and crashing, the low rumbles really did not disturb us, it infact they were quite handy to work out the time in the mornings as once we heard one we knew it was probably around 7.

Nothing ever made us jump or feel on edge.

If you're happy with the overhang then I can recommend the cabin, at home we live in a quiet area with no traffic noise and the rumbles didn't disturb us one bit, although someone further towards the back did say they thought it was very noisy, I can only assume they were nearer one of the doors at the back of the buffet.

  2. Sailed on Equinox last week in 2133 sky suite, there was rumberling from carts being rolled overhead, low level and it didn't bother us, was only for a short time after about 7 in the morning and then on odd occasions during the day. When we were in the buffet the only thing we could think that caused it was the full carts of plates being taken back to the galley.

What we really didn't like was the overhang on the balcony, it made it feel very enclosed you eventually saw some sun if the sun set on on right side.

    Hope this helps

  3. Hope you are feeling better now Dave, my Mum for some reason didn't feel she had to wash her hands at the entrance to Horizon, I had to keep saying I know we've not been far but it's importnant to do it. Maybe it's an older person thing as it was automatic for me, I sometimes did the gel at the tray station as well.....OCD me never!

  4. I have booked a saver fare, last year on Azura and this year on Britannia, we were allocated late sitting on Azura and then Feeedom on Britannia. Price wise the Britannia fare did drop, we booked 4 weeks before and about a week before sailing it dropped by £150.

Both times we had a balcony cabin towards the front of the ship which was fine.

Interestingly the saver on Britannia was only marginally cheaper than someone who had booked a select fare with an on board £150 spend, although the on board spend is your own money back to use with P & O and they used it for trips that they wanted to do.

  5. Thanks for the review, we were on the same cruise as you.I travelled with my 88 year old Mum on a saver fare, we had a balcony cabin and freedom dining and that suited us perfectly. Considering the amount I paid I really felt it was value for money and no problems with the cabin, two full length mirrors desk and small mirror with hairdryer and plenty of hanging space.

Did use the assisted boarding and this was a fantastic service which I registered for before hand, we were met at the top of the stairs and whisked through.

Didn't bother with any of the shows other than the Overtones which were fantastic.:)

  6. Hi Antmadmanda,

Just back from our cruise, stayed in B218 which is towards the front of the ship. smallish balcony, probably about 4 feet but enough space for two chairs, small table and one footstall.

Above you there is the floor of the balcony above, so you are covered as their balcony is the same size as yours. We found that depending on the direction of travel there is sun on the balcony either in the morning or afternoon although it does seem to take a long time for the afternoon sun to appear, about 5 on Saturday, but we then had the sun until the most fantastic sun set at 10.30.

I did have a compass on my phone to check where the sun would be, although we had such wonderful weather it was only to work out if we would get shade rather than sun!

Sorry about no photos but any questions please let me know.:)

  7. I did a two nighter on Oceana a few years ago, it was like a booze cruise I hated it, if it had been my first cruise it would have been my last.

On board Azura on Sunday (08/06) with my 80 year old mun. First time on Azura, lots of mixed reviews but going on board with an open mInd

    Happy Cruising

See you on board, I'm with my Mum (87) as well! Maybe we should sneak out to the nightclub one night! I'm assuming you are female so am I ( didn't want this post to sound like blind date!):D

  8. Hi Antmadmanda, We sail on Sunday in a B deck forward, port balcony, I will let you know how we get on when we return. I know what you mean about the sun, what you don't want is a fully shaded balcony even when the sun is high in the sky. I have tried to work out what side the sun will be on the journey out and back, we are sailing across the bay of biscay ( where the sun is,may be the least of my problems!)

I will try and take a couple of photos to give you an idea what to expect:D

  9. I will look out for you on my next cruise! You sound like you will fit in really well with the appropriate attire, love the idea of you hurdling the sun beds, the only advice I can offer is to go for something less fizzy in your refreshment bottle or you may end up showering everyone and they may think you are on the podium for formula 1!

  10. Thanks for the helpful comments, glad to hear the gym staff are helpful. Will try the walk, just would be nice to do a round trip.

Jean, you are right about making good choices, although I find that I do get tempted! Hence the need to burn a few calories!

  11. I honestly can not believe that people want to spend mega £ on a relaxing cruise and then don their sweaty lycra and start pounding the decks. If you want exercise walk up and down the stairs and as for weight gain, DONT EAT SO MUCH.

Not everyone wants the same from a cruise what one person considers relaxing another doesn't. What one person considers mega £'s another doesn't.

  12. I'll look up the free classes, sounds good. I'm travelling with my mum who is 87 and her walking isn't good so I tend to match her pace and I imagine that if I left her alone in the lift it would be unlikely that I would see her again for the rest of the cruise! ( no don't tempt me!):D

  13. I do like a "good" cup of coffee, is there one available that will hit the same spot as a good double espresso? Can you order one of these from room service? Just thinking it would be great to wake up to!
