  1. When we booked this cruise last year we had no idea there was a national holiday. We are just trying to make plans for that day since the beaches will more than likely be packed.

    Thanks for the info!

  2. I couldn't care less about the new perks for suite passengers, but I'm really disappointed that they are taking over Michael's Club on the M class ships. This was our favorite bar to frequent at night since they ruined the martini bar with that ridiculously noisy ice covered thing they have now. Michael's Club on the S class ships is always empty, but on the M class ships it always seems to be a great place to hang out especially when they have live entertainment.

  3. My wife and I were on the same cruise and we really enjoyed it. It was one of our best cruise experiences. We also really enjoyed listening to Danny play at the sunset bar. We tried to catch his performances as much as we could. We booked the same cruise for January of next year, but this time we are going to do the Western itinerary.

  4. It is totally possible. We did this exact thing yesterday from the Silhouette for our 10:35am flight. You need to be able to carry your own luggage off the ship though. We were allowed to disembark at 7:15am and we were through ship security security, through customs and checked in at the Southwest counter at FLL by 8:00am. We were through airport security and at our gate by 8:20am.

Just make sure you are one of the first 15-20 people off the ship. We lined up at 6:45am and there were already a good 20-30 people in line.

We have done this same process the last three years with no issues.

  5. It's too bad you didn't get to enjoy any of the concerts on the lawn. On our January cruise they had a jazz concert at night on the lawn as we sailed away from San Juan. They laid out blankets, a small wooden table for your drinks, and these really cool little blue lights. If you purchased a glass of wine, you also got a free cheese plate. This was one of the coolest things we have ever done on any of our cruises.

However, other than the great jazz concert, I agree with you that the lawn area is pretty useless. The majority of it was roped off for our entire 7 day cruise.

  6. The doctor wanted to do my surgery on April 3...but I'm boarding the Celebrity Constellation on April 11 for a Top Chef cruise. NO WAY was I going on a CULINARY cruise 7 days after sinus surgery! I told the doctor I'd do the surgery when I get back - hence the 17th. I'd much rather do surgery AFTER a cruise than before a cruise - yikes!

I hope you are planning to do another EPIC review of this Top Chef cruise. We have always wanted to try one of those since we are addicted to any and all cooking shows!

  7. Sherri,

When you were at Sapphire Beach, did you notice if there was a stand where you could get food and drinks? Were there any restrooms and were they clean? I've read many conflicting reviews lately about Sapphire Beach. Some people claim that the food and beverage stand is now closed and the bathrooms are beyond filthy, and others say that there is a place for food and drinks and that the bathrooms are just fine.

We are trying to plan our excursions for our January cruise and we wanted to spend the day at Sapphire Beach, but some of the reviews have us concerned.

    Thanks!

  8. Let me start by saying I do not like leaving things to chance. I always want to know where I'm staying and how much I will be paying. I don't even like to book a GTY cabin. However, after reading all of these comments on CC, I decided I would give Priceline.com a shot for our pre-cruise stay in San Juan on 1/14. Well, I couldn't be happier! I got the Intercontinental San Juan Resort for $120!

Thank you to all who have posted previously and gave me the courage to try something new! :D
