  1. Thank you everyone for your suggestions.  We booked Air Canada flight on CRJ900 plane directly to Phoenix. If they have to check my carry-on, I will already be prepared and make sure nothing is valuable is in my case. This will be a  new experience for all of us.

Its slightly over a 3 hour drive. You can fly nonstop for about $100 person from Vancouver and arrive planeside in Seattle.

I understand but that would be a regional flight which means smaller overhead bins on the flight. Have you ever taken Air Canada CRJ900 plane?  If so, can the plane accommodate average carry-on luggage cases?

Even if you booked a limo, it is highly unlikely you could get a reasonable fixed price due to the potential of border delays, which can be upwards of 2 to 3 hours. With border delays and Seattle traffic, the drive can be anywhere from 2.5 hrs to 6 + hrs.

Best options from YVR to Seatac are flights or Quick Shuttle.

I totally understand but the issue is with flying a regional plane with smaller overhead bins.  We will have 3 carry on's and I am not sure it would be allowed on the plane or we have to check them? Originally, we were booked on a direct flight to Phoenix and American cancelled that flight and put us on a regional flight that we have to change planes in LA with only 42 minute layover.

  4. Sssshhhh don’t tell my DH [emoji15] He actually suggested that, and I vetoed it thinking the line to just get into the port area was too long.... but you’re probably right, makes sense.

LOL... drop off luggage around 9:30am and it's very quick. We usually go and have breakfast after and then return the car. It's our usual routine. Heading for Oasis in August and next week on Anthem.

Enjoy every moment on the cruise with your family!!!

  5. Awesome love to cruise! Have a great time next month!

We just came from the suite guest meet with the captain (?) I think that was what it was. There was a guest in attendance who had a pin on showing as the top cruiser on board or something. So not sure about the top tier event.

Thank you for doing a live report on my favorite ship! We will be sailing in May of this year. Its funny I recognized Sue and Dick in your picture with the captain who might also be the top cruiser! Could you please let me know who is the Concierge in the Concierge lounge? Hope you are enjoying your cruise!

  6. Anthem of the Seas is also my favorite ship!!! After last May's cruise, we went ahead and booked it again for next year. I love that you don't have to go outside to eat in specialty restaurants. The colors and decor on the ship makes it feel like a hotel. The only negative was that we did not like our Junior Suite. The layout was very poor. Next year we will have a family Junior Suite. I think we will like it better!

    Have a GREAT cruise!

  7. We had that cabin on the Anthem and did not like it. The design was terrible. Bathroom is near the bed so when I used it in the middle of the night, the light woke up my husband. When you are sitting at the desk you can't get into the closet. On a better note, I loved the ship so next time we will be doing a family Junior Suite.

  8. I wondered if they will make first night formal.

    Thx

    M

ps - I expanded your signature and see we are also sailing together on your August 27 sailing. Looking forward to meeting you.

That is great!! Also looking forward to meeting you. This will be our first time being on Oasis for 3 consecutive weeks. Hopefully, I can handle it!

Yes, the first day is formal night for New Years. I wish the cruise would start on the 30th instead. On a positive note, once New Years is over there is still almost a week left to that cruise.

  9. We are also sailing the same two weeks as you are on the Oasis. New Years is the best time to sail. No worries about drinking and driving. We just have to make it back to our cabin. As a fyi, since you board on the 31st, that is the first formal night. Last year we ended up carrying our formal wear on board in case our luggage didn't get there before dinner. We won't be doing that again. Got our luggage in plenty of time.

  10. We sailed many times on all Royal classes of ships except the Quantum class up until last May. We went on the Anthem in May and I truly have to say that I love that ship. Before we the cruise was over, we booked it again for next May. In my opinion, it never felt crowded and I love the design with all the different venues and that you don't have to go outside to go to a specialty restaurant. This is just my opinion and I know others may disagree.

  11. Excellent review! I enjoyed reading it and I totally understand why you booked another cruise for July. When I am on a cruise, we don't do much. I do have a bad habit of working on my computer in the afternoons which I will not be doing on our next cruise in August. Life is too short to always be working!

Hope you enjoy your July cruise!

  12. Yea it won't be ideal for working.

For us it's not a massive issue, I can't upload pics and stuff on here, but at least we're not trying to work with it.

I think we're also going to ask to cancel our second device as it's not worth keeping at the moment and one will be more than enough.

However, one thing to note is that we did a TA before on Anthem and the internet was pretty good on that. So not sure if it's slower because this is an older ship or just the positioning of the satellites at the moment.

Good point! Actually we are going on the Anthem in a couple of weeks but doing the crossing on the Indy. We did a Baltic cruise on the Navigator and the internet at times was not good! They told us that we were out of the zone where internet would be good. At least you set my expectations before the cruise so I won't be surprise with the poor internet. My husband will be happy since I won't be able to work. At least someone will be happy! :)

    Thank you!!!

  13. As we are now well into the Transatlantic part I can let you know about the internet. It's bad, really bad. For the last few days I haven't been able to upload photos or anything and when I have it's taken about 20 minutes for each one.

We have just been to see the internet person and she advised it's much worse than they had expected and in reality they don't expect us to be able to do anything apart from really basic stuff with no videos or images.

They have a got a technician on board trying to improve it but they don't think it will be any better until they get into Southampton and are able to target a different satellite.

Thank you for the update regarding the internet. This is not good news for me :( During the crossing, I wanted to do some work which requires access to different websites. Before anyone says anything, I know I shouldn't be working while on a cruise. My family has told me this many of times. Plan "B", load my kindle with books instead!

Hope you are enjoying your cruise! Thanks again!
