Most of the time the older teens do not really enjoy activities at the teen club. Instead they meet up the first evening and arrange to spend time together away from the club.

Yes this is what happened last time. I am hoping the two days she has before she turns 18 they meet a few people to hang out with.

Having sailed both lines I can tell you Royal Caribbean has more activities geared for that age group. Teens on Princess tend to ride the elevators for entertainment. We sail Princess for itinerary only. Even at 52 and 60 Princess is a snooze for us in terms of entertainment.

We are going for the itinerary. My kids have been on 5 cruises so they know they lose roaming privileges if they play in elevators. Good to know about entertainment but being a port heavy and long days I am guessing it will be fine. Thank you for giving us something to think about.

  3. I searched but didn't see anything. We are looking at a cruise in June 2022 from Rome to Athens. The cruise leaves while my daughter is 17 and she turns 18 a few days later. Since she is 17 at the start of the cruise will she have access to teen club the whole time? I have heard that 18-21 is a touch age to cruise on some ships as they are too old for teens and too young for adult only areas.

    Thanks!!

Sorry but that is wrong.  Your age is set the day you board and remains that way for the duration of the cruise.

Royal Caribbean International reserves the right to ask for proof of age. Royal Caribbean International's age policy for gambling and consumption of alcoholic beverages is as follows: Please note: An individual's age on the date of sailing determines his or her status for their cruise vacation.

Thank you for posting the policy!!

  5. I searched but didn't see anything. We are looking at a cruise in June 2022. The cruise leaves while my daughter is 17 and she turns 18 a few days later. Since she is 17 at the start of the cruise will she have access to teen club the whole time? She is bringing a friend who stays 17 the entire time. I believe at 18 they are too old for teen club and too young for the dance club correct? Does anyone know if she will be able to hang out with friends she meets before she turns 18 in the teen club?

    Thanks!

  6. We just returned from the ABC cruise. It was wonderful. We loved the RFS. Loved our balcony, loved the space!!

Ship wise I would give her an 8 we didn't chose this cruise for the ship but we wanted the ports.

Dinning- We had 21 people in our group. We mostly ate in the main dinning room. If you get Orlando and May you are super lucky. They were amazing. We had my time dinning at 5:30 so we could get the kids done eating by 6:30 and get them to the waiting kids club workers who meet you at the dinning entrance on deck 4. Orlando loved the kids and showed them one magic trick each night. May was so kind when the spills happened. Let's face it 11 kids ages 4-12 all at one table. Someone was going to spill. Heck even at the adult table lol.

Windjammer- never any issues. Typical buffet

Chops- Loved it. For us it was well worth it.

Giovanni's - I liked it but not sure I would do it again. I've had better. Food was good but not wow.

Izumi's- not worth it in my opinion. We love sushi. To many great places on land.

We didn't eat at the Mexican place because like the sushi place too many great places I already eat it at.

Shows- we watched the headliners and the ice dancing both were fun

Pools- yep crowded but manageable. We only save two chairs. One for each adult. I feel no need to save kids chairs. They don't use them. I also could use the Suite only chairs but they are in the direct sun and away from the pools a bit and with small children I felt I should be closer.

Lower pool bar- they weren't fun. In fact down right rude most of the time. I ended up tipping a pool side server to just keep coming around. They were friendly and had fun.

Two Poets bar was good. Only went a few times

Bar outside the casino by the main elevators was amazing.

Kids club- we had kids ages 4-12. All went to kids club. My 12 year old loved the teens club. The 8-10 year olds said kids club was hit and miss. The 4-6 year olds LOVED it. Begged to go. Mr Ice Cream, Mr Viking, Miss Apple are named we heard lots.

Room- we splurged and got in on the royal family Suite when RCCL ran their 1/2 off 2nd, 3rd, etc sale almost 2 years ago. It was cheaper then two connecting balconies so we grabbed it. We loved it. It was our family of 5 and cousins spent the night most nights too. Mr Jeff our room Attendant was great. We had treats left for us each night. He let the kids in the room when they left behind their cards. Always smiling.

    Feel free to ask questions

  7. My husband and I are looking at the Barcelona-Venice cruise in Oct 2015. We are wanting to try a smaller line and love the all inclusive idea. We can't book until December but are wondering if booking a guarantee room is worth it if we don't mind where on the ship we are put. While I would love to book a concierge or penthouse I just don't think we can. Is there any real benefit to booking early if you don't care what room you get? Downside to just booking a guarantee room? Does this mean we get rooms with bad views? We are looking at other smaller lines but the included excursions and no smoking in rooms or verandas really has me sold on this line.

    Thanks for your help.

  8. You should call carnival and ask but I found this on there FQA page under traveling with minors. I would guess the letter would need all ports of call on whatever dates you are there and the start and stop dates of the cruise though.

"All guests 16 years of age or older must provide an official photo I.D. When traveling with a minor and both parents/legal guardians are not cruising, we strongly recommend bringing an original signed letter from the absent parent/legal guardian authorizing the minor to travel with you. This will expedite processing by the Department of Homeland Security. Please note that a notarized letter to this effect is required if debarking with children in Mexico."
