  1. I get motion sick VERY easily, so I will never step on to a boat or drive up a mountain without taking at least a dose of Dramamine.  When on a cruise, I always get the prescription patch Scopolamine.  Some people may have side effects of dry mouth, or even blurred vision,  but it works great for me!

  2. Just returned from our Viking Rhine Getaway. They have changed the dinner in the Aquavit Terrace... they are no longer offering the buffet for dinner there. Instead, it is reservation only, gourmet Italian menu. (Same menu every night)

As for the food in the restaurant, we found them to be VERY accommodating with my family's VERY unadventurous appetites. (The chef even brought in chicken nuggets for my daughter and made burger and fries a few times for my son.)

  3. As I look through my Viking Cruise documents, it says on the Longships, they offer a "bar-style menu on the Aquavit Terrace several nights a cruise with open seating." So I guess it isn't offered every night of the cruise, but you have the option sometimes...

  4. Checking back in, just a week more before we leave.

*Thank you Kenster for the good wishes, we are hoping for the best! Rummytiles, Uno, Family Feud and other games are ready to be packed for our evening entertainment.

*Notamermaid: Easter egg hunt and baskets are happening on Palm Sunday at home, filled with Travel Sized treats. :)

I know this trip isn't necessarily going to be "fun & exciting" for the kids, but we have done many trips that were. I am wanting them to see the history and beauty and culture in this part of Europe. My husband has family that are even meeting us in Rudesheim for dinner that we haven't seen since our last trip to Germany 20 years ago! I will report back how it goes when we return...

  5. Jumping in on this thread... we are already booked on Viking Rhine River Cruise Amsterdam to Basel April 1, 2018. We are taking 3 of our kids who will be 12,13 and 18 when we go. Only 2 people per room, so booking shows me with daughter, husband with son, and the 18 yo has his own room. Where everyone will actually sleep... that will all work out. We REALLY splurged and got the suite, but the other two rooms are down below. I have no worries about the kids behaving and being respectful. (I am looking forward to some old-fashioned family game nights in the suite, bringing cards and games for entertainment.)

I am curious why notamermaid specifically says no to Viking? Have I missed something significant? But thank you for the suggestion of Europa Park. I will definitely look into that!

  6. Hi there, just thought I would use this thread to ask a question, (love how helpful everyone is on this board!) We are booked on the April 1, 2018 AB cruise. I want to reserve a tour of the Anne Frank house and trying to figure out the best time to do it. We arrive in Amsterdam the night before...should I try and schedule it in the morning, before we head to the ship, or later in the afternoon?
