  1. I'm in a similar boat. Just looking for something to do after getting off until we can check into our airbnb at 2. But potentially a longer tour. I'm wondering how to gauge how long it'll take to get through customs.

I am now a 70 year old widow and am planning my first solo cruise.  How do you pick a cruise where I  can meet similar people?

there are groups that cater to solo trave and senior travel. I haven't been on CC in years but there used to be groups that would plan to cruise together for the purpose of meeting up. If you're on facebook there's a group called Girls Love Travel. Maybe there's a similar group for seniors. Hope you found what you wanted!

Eat all meals in MDR - breakfast esp. is enjoyed continental style on the pool deck after a brisk swim and before all the punters are up and out.

to buy the drinks package - I would rather disembark and imbibe on local spirits at a beach or cafe, then make my way back to the ship with my cooler bottle. Instead of soda I enjoy a mix of sweet tea and tart lemonade from the buffet area with lots of ice. Makes great bar mix!

you get back on the ship with your water bottle filled with alcohol? They don't check them? I don't buy drink packages, never have. I'll have a bottle of wine and 1 or 2 boat drinks on board, and I drink less now than 13 years ago, but if they don't check water bottles then that would be worth having a lemonade mixer to buy something on an island.

    I am on March 5

Me too! Our airbnb said if nobody is booked the night before we can check in early to store luggage. Staying 2 nights post cruise. Looking at jungle/waterfall excursions. Any other suggestions? I've stopped in san juan but I think we waited forever for the hotel to get us a rental car we just drove around and couldn't do the zip line thing before going back to the ship bc the guide was with another group and they didn't have more than 1 that day. I was SO disappointed for the kids. And mad at false promises of a rental car.

The passengers are there on Freewinds...but have never..ever..once seen the small ship leave Aruba  port.  Plus you don't see a lot of anyone going on or off the ship.   Notice the heavily loaded three large dumpsters next to the ship as well.  😵

NCL Epic is next to us right now in Cuacao....indeed very busy in town.  Huge (and IMHO...not very pretty ship).

Scary to know what might be in there. IYKYK

As this is the first cruise after the Transatlantic, prices do tend to stay a little higher with a large amount doing B2B

Have you considered doing the Explorer May 7th - prices are a lot better.

So THAT's why. I thought maybe universities getting out is what made it so full. Air is already booked for flying home on the 13th.

  7. Prices went up $350pp when I was looking for airfare for this cruise. Paying for 6 ppl, that's a chunk of change!! Now that it's less than 90 days out I hoped prices might drop, but it seems to be the most crowded of the May sailings bc the other weeks are much less even though they haven't hit 90 days. What are my chances or should I just plan a 9 night land tour through Spain since air is bought going to Barcelona? This is a major undertaking either way. I thought the cruise would take the sleep/eat/travel headache out of the trip, but in all the research waiting for the 90 day mark, I feel more confident with a DIY land deal, other than evening entertainment (don't want the 19 yr old non-drinker stuck in bars every night).
