  1. We just got off the Magic Saturday. We had Dr. E for our cruise director.

Dr. E was hands down the best cruise director by a mile that I have ever cruised with during my 20 plus cruises. It's worth going on the Magic to sail with him. If any of you guys have sealed with him you will know what I mean.

We sailed with Dr. E on the Valor, in 2011, when he was an Assistant CD. He was the most memorable CD staff that I have ever sailed with. I always remember his name and have pics of him, too! Sailing with him again on Magic in October!

  2. My opinion stick to the Magic!

I am going to be very honest and blunt here on how I feel about NCL...been on the Breakaway the sister ship of the Escape, why I hate NCL Breakaway:

1- outdoor pools very tiny for the amount of people

2- top decks contain "cubby holes" very mazy areas

3- hallways so narrow if somebody with a scooter/wheelchair needs to get by you have to literally maneuver yourself in a doorway for them to get by

4- the staff is not friendly, overtime we pass a cabin steward on any Carnival ship in the hallways they always greet you or say something nice, on NCL they ignore you totally

5- you have to use their blowdryer we had five rooms and all us females with different blowdryers to blow out the electric was told we had to use theirs, I am 5'7" like to stand up doing my hair but because their cord was plugged in permanently under the desk area, I had to sit on the small stool and blow dry my hair literally had to lean over

6- there was no meat carving at the lunch buffet only for the first day of boarding

7- they are horrible at the buffet for people with gluten issues

8- the closets are the other way/direction so when the ship rocks the hangers would bang against one another and keep us up we had to take them off the shelf two days because of the ship being rocky and the waters were clear and all sunny days

8- I believe they took off the lobster off the menu right after my cruise

9- When you leave the room since the ship is "green" your electric doesn't work unless you leave your shipboard card in the socket, when you come in your room you place the shipboard card in the slot so the electric will all work, we used another card and just kept it in there so we can charge our cell phones, iPads and such.

Well, I can go on and on but one thing I did like were their main dining rooms being small and quaint, felt like eating in regular restaurants and not in a banquet hall and great storage in the bathrooms.

We were on Breakaway in September of 2013. I agree with your assessment wholeheartedly!

  3. A little off topic, but this week I discovered that Deet 100 will destroy nail polish. We lost our power for 2 days due to storm damage (my birch tree took out the power lines to our street), so we spent a couple of evenings out on the porch. Since the mosquitoes are really bad right now I decided to spray myself...hands, feet, everywhere. Well the deet made my polish bubble and peel.

I use DEET when cruising to the Western Caribbean and I know that my bottle leaked and bubbled a plastic container.

  4. Hello! Thinking of doing the Melia for a day trip in Nassau. I have called them several times and get cut off every time they answer. I have also emailed them without response. So, my question is......does the day pass end early like some of the other resorts? We do not arrive to Nassau until 1:30 p.m. and it wouldn't be worth it if we spent the money for two passes if we had to leave at 5. Anyone know for sure? Thank You!

  5. Does anyone know if the Melia day pass ends at a certain time? We do not arrive to Nassau until 1:30 p.m. (Grandeur of the Seas) and I figure that we would not be to the Melia until 2:30-3:00. Do you think it's worth the $ to buy the pass if we arrive at that time?

  6. Hello fellow cruisers. My DH and I will be taking the #10 jitney to the Melia on Cable Beach next month. Can someone who has taken this before please tell me if the $1.25 fare pp can be paid with using American (USD) money or, must I get some Bahamian money to pay for the fare? Also, do they want all coins like here in NYC or, can you pay with bills and change? Thank You!

  7. This is weird, I looked again at the itinerary that my TA sent me and the itinerary from My Cruises on Royal the Royal website....they conflict with one another. I'm going to go with Royal's version so, yes, according to Royal, we'll be in Coco Cay on the 29th.

  8. If you want private, I recommend Bananarama in Roatan for diving. Very nice quaint place. Do yahoo search for them. They will pick you up and drop you off at the gate by the pier. For Belize, I am not much help. I have heard book through the ship since it is a tender and the diving excursion has a boat that picks you up at the ship. My husband will find out in May. In Coz, highly recommend Dive with Alison. She takes divers and snorklers. Once at the dive sites she goes with the divers and the snorklers have their own guide. You do have to take a taxi to the marina. She is suppose to have the fastest dive boat in Coz so you get to go to places the other boats can take you. Again she can be found on a yahoo search. Both palces will rent equipment if you do not have your own. Bananarama is also a nice place to relax.

Yes, Bananarama is good. I have my own gear, so I go wherever my mood takes me.

I'll be on Navigator in 2 days and I am an avid snorkeler. I suggest Goff's Caye in Belize and the snorkeling off Tabyana Beach in Roatan is good, too. I have scuba dived in Cozumel so, I cannot comment on snorkeling there.

  10. I viewed photos of the Breakaway's side balcony cabins.....the balcony really looks small!!

I am in an Aft Facing Balcony Cabin (14274) and hoping it is a bit larger then the side balcony cabins I viewed on the photos of a recent review. WOW, the side balcony is real small! Has anyone been in an aft-facing balcony and not the ones on the ends?

I love my balcony and hanging out there.....please tell me it is larger than the photos I saw in the review! :D

    Don

I'm in 14274 on September 15th and was wondering the same thing.
