  1. I had to cancel our Celebrity Cruise for medical reasons. I bought the insurance which is through Celebrity and called AON, but I am still not clear how to get a refund. The documents are a bit vague. What exactly do I need to submit for a full refund for both of us? Anyone with experience with this and AON insurance or am I out of luck?

  2. SO and I were scheduled for a 7-night cruise. Three weeks before departure, his 96 year old father broke a hip. Lots of surgery, including a hip replacement. We had to cancel and notified the Celebrity insurance carrier. We had to submit forms to his dad’s physician. The physician filled out the forms, included a statement that the SO had medical POA for his father and was also the primary caregiver. We received a full refund for both of us in less than three weeks once the paperwork was submitted.

I am in a situation like this. I did purchase the insurance. You mentioned the Physician statement and Power of Attorney for your SO's dad. Did the physician have to fill something out about your SO having POA or did you SO just have to include that page from his/her dad's Trust? I'm scrambling to figure what to do! Thanks for any advice.

  3. Hi!

We're going on the Equinox soon and I have a few questions for you experienced travelers. We are flying in to Ft. Lauderdale. The ship leaves out of Miami. I cannot find anything in the documents I received that says where the port is. I know some ships leave out of Ft. Lauderdale and some out of Miami - it isn't the same port, is it? I'm looking for an address for the port the Equinox docks at. Also, we will be getting in late the night before and would like suggestions on where to stay that is reasonably priced and comfortable. Should we stay in Ft. Lauderdale or Miami? Thank you in advance!

  4. Hi There!

We are trying to choose a late July cruise that visits Grand Cayman. We've been on Carnival many times and want to try something different. We are in our late 40s and are looking for a balcony cabin. We'd love your opinions on these two cruise lines and ships. I see Celebrity has different classes - we'd probably go Veranda class. Any thoughts on Princess and Celebrity would be much appreciated.

  5. I have heard Carnival being referred to as "Walmart of the Seas" on several occasions, so we decided to try a different line this year, since we had only been on Carnival and had nothing to compare it to, but we knew we have always loved Carnival.

So we just got back from our Norwegian cruise. We were completely bored. The crew was rude. The food was hit or miss (we actually preferred the buffet to the MDR). They did not have comedy clubs (which we love). Other than the beautiful ports, we were just not impressed. Now don't get me wrong, we didn't have an awful time, just not as good as we were used to.

So needless to say, we have decided to stick with Carnival since we have never had these issues, and are already planning our next 2 cruises with them.

    Guess we just like Walmart!!!;p

I agree with the original poster 100%! One of my first cruises when I was in my 20's, was on NCL and as we were sailing away, the Carnival Cruise next to us were partying it up having a great time, peppy music, fun, fun, fun, still in dock, while we were serenely cruising out to sea. BORING! I've been on RCCL, NCL, Carnival and the old Viking Serenade and Carnival is still my favorite. My husband has only been on Carnival and he thinks it is a bit "Walmart" but I know him and he wouldn't be able to Karaoke the night away on the other ships and have nearly the fun as he does on Carnival.

  6. We'll be doing the 4 day to Catalina and Ensenada soon and I'd like to find a pharmacy in Ensenada that will sell real medicine. Does anyone know of a legitimate one? I've bought in Cabo before and I don't think the antibiotic meds were real. Thanks in advance!:)

  7. I've been searching the cruise lines (Carnival, Princess, Holland America, NCL and RCCL for a 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise from Calif. leaving May 16, 17 or 18th or May 22, 23, or 24th, 2015. I'd like to go to Mazatlan. Is Carnival the only cruise line offering a cruise there at that time? Help! Thanks!!:)

  8. I got called on Friday and let the voicemail take it until I could go on Cruisecritic and see what you all have to say about being called. After I read the boards, I thought maybe I could be offered something nice for a small price (ha, ha, I know...). I called back and left a message. The upsell fairy called back today and offered me a move from Extended Balcony to Ocean Suite for....wait for it....a grand total of....$500 MORE. I said, "Oh, no thank you," and she said, "don't you want to talk to your husband about it?" I said, "He'd say the same thing as me." She told me to call her back if we change our mind. I didn't ask for a cheaper price because I knew from these boards the answer would be "no." I'm hoping she'll call back with a lower offer. If it were under $100 like some people on here got, I would've said yes!;)

  9. I'll be on the Miracle next month too. Could you tell me how much it costs to go to Nikki Beach for the day?? Thanks!!

I love the Nikki Beach Resort excursion (which I may have booked myself off the internet...I can't remember). My DS's girlfriend and I took a boat over to Nikki Beach and the excursion included not only the boat ride over to and back from the hotel/restaurant but also included free use of their pool and beds you could lay on and suntan on. It's also right on the ocean so there's a great beach. It also included two free drinks and appetizers. The girlfriend and I just kicked back under an umbrella while these gorgeous pool boys waited on us hand and foot...it was awesome and we spent most of the day there. Swam in the pool and beach. There were all kinds of vendors who you could buy things from but you didn't have to be hassled by them because they only came over if you asked them to. We got some really beautiful beach wraps for a bargain. Loved, loved, loved this excursion and the girlfriend and I can't wait to go back this summer and do it all again!:D

If you're more interested in doing something physical...the guys loved the zip line tour but said it was really strenuous (and they're in great shape).

I should mention that we've been to Cabo many, many times because the SIL has a timeshare there so we've done all kinds of excursions there. At this point in time...when we cruise there...all I want to do is kick back and relax and let the guys do all the work! :)

  10. My husband and I are going on a Carnival Cruise to Cabo and Puerto Vallarta in March for our anniversary. Last time we were on this cruise was our honeymoon and the excursions through carnival were so expensive. We felt a bit cheated because in port, we saw the same excursions for a lot less money. Some people not on our cruise went with us on one excursion and paid half what we paid. We'd love to be able to afford to go on more excursions. I didn't write any of the companies names down. I was wondering if anyone knew of the companies that will take us to do the same things as Carnival. We'd like to go to the beach and maybe a party boat or catamaran. We'd also like to whale watch in Cabo. Swimming with dolphins would be wonderful! Has anyone used the companies that run these excursions outside of Carnival or another cruise line? :)

  11. I wonder if it's the same guy who always contacts me. He calls then emails. This happens to me every time I go to Carnival.com and other sites owned by them. I knew my ex-husband was going on a cruise before his wife did. How? He checked out the prices on carnival.com and carnival still had my number connected to him so they called ME to pressure him into booking. He was flabbergasted when I inquired whether or not he was going on a cruise. He incredulously asked me, "how did you know?" and I told him they called me to try to complete the booking.

I like to dream about my next cruise. 19 times out of 20, when I go to a cruise lines website, I'm just browsing and dreaming and hoping to find an amazing deal that I can afford. Each time I go to carnival or NCL's website, they call me. I just ignore it and don't answer. I finally did book a cruise a few weeks ago and contacted the guy who always calls through email. I wanted to ask why I was given no discount or upgrade for being a repeat cruiser. I gave my full booking information and instead of answering my questions, he just called again. If I wanted to speak to him I would have called. He then emailed saying he just called but never did answer my questions. I had to write to Carnival for answers.
