I agree John, Mayflower struggles with medium sized ships, let alone the biggies.

Basically the Mayflower terminal cannot cope with the extra luggage on the longer cruise trips

We came off the Azura last month which was 19 nights and were told that we would have to wait a little longer for our disembarkation time which was just over the hour as there were approximately over 16,000 items of luggage to be offloaded

The porter who helped with our cases said that when the Iona comes into service, the Mayflower will be used by Britannia when both in port

As you say that the Independence will not be here next year, but can’t see P&O using City  berth, normally used for RC ships, as the Explorer of the Seas will still be operating here and also the return of the Anthem of the Seas

  2. The questionnaire I had after my recent cruise on Britannia had the same loaded questions and it's obvious that P&O have decided on change of dress code and they're going to blame that on feedback just as they did stopping FCD and changing embarkation arrangements. BTW I've just come back from 'working' on a Princess ship and they've still got FCD and were advertising them loudly and proudly.

I enjoy the fact that I get the chance to dress up on a cruise and I was happy with 4 formals on my 14 nights on Britannia recently but I've just checked my CP and it says we've got 10 in 35 nights on Ventura in Feb and that's just too many for me.

Just returned yesterday -10th July - from Ventura on 17 night Eastern Med trip where we had 3 formals in 5 days and a further 2 later

These 5 formals all happened on 'sea days'

  3. We 'did' North Star when we were in port in Gibraltar. We went later on in the day, after our Mediterranean Steps excursion and a short duty-free shopping visit. There was quite a queue when we were there, but I have seen other times with a shorter line. I think the ride is about 10 minutes and there is room for (I think) 14 at a time. I would estimate that we waited about 30 minutes in line. It didn't go out over the side of the ship, probably because we were in port. I did see it go out over the side one sea day.

They did host Quest in SeaPlex. I think it was day 12, but I can't find that Cruise Compass at the moment to confirm.

    :)

Great posts by the way and apologies for 'butting in' on your preview, but would like to add some comments.

We did the Anthem early July and really had some great weather.

I was fortunate to board the North Star around 5 times during the cruise and not really having the 'head for heights' I managed it ok, in fact it travels upwards so slowly that you do not really notice it is moving. But the views alone are something to look forward to. It goes up something like 300 feet above sea level.

The only negative comment I have is that, in the area which was set aside for queuing, there was no shade.

The 'Anthem' is definitely a ship with the WOW factor.
