  1. I have been looking at the med fly cruises. We will be a party of 4, 2 adults, a 6yr old and 2yr old. We don't want the upper /lower combination where we have to have the beds separate. What cabins can we have a double bed and the kids perhaps have a sofa bed? They aren't old enough for the upper berths so we'd end up up there which we don't want. Would it be a mini suite?

    Thanks

  2. My in laws are on this cruise, it's the last port tomorrow before returning to Southampton but it's been eventful! They've had 3 known medical emergencies, 2 which have required a helicopter to airlift a crew member and a passenger. They have an aft suite and both times had to vacate their cabin for safety. The first time was at 2am, they had to go to the belvedere restaurant where phones were banned and the flood/fire doors shut! They were out until about 3am. They've had it again tonight but went to the show as their cabin was out of bounds. They saw the other emergency taken off by ambulance. Sadly too they've also seen someone taken off the ship who didn't make it. It's been quite a cruise! They have been on many cruises and never known so many emergencies!

  3. We had a superior deluxe balcony cabin on B deck which was fine, however I would say the overhang on A deck is considerable and the balcony most often in the shade.

The balcony has 2 chairs and a table and no room really for anything else. The cabin however is spacious with a double sofa and curtain diving the bedroom and seating area, also a TV in each area.

  4. Yes we have just got home from Britannia today, fabulous ship! They are sticking to the times so that you can go straight to your cabin. We had a 1.30 slot, arrived at the port at 1.10, by the time we got the car dropped off with CPS it was 1.45, when we got to the top of the escalator we were ushered through the priority check in as we were now after our time, straight to a desk, through security and onboard and in our cabin. Worked fine for us. I would recommend arriving about 45mins before the time if you're dropping a car off, if you are just arriving at the terminal, 15mins before would be okay, earlier than that and they give cards out and you'll be made to wait.

Also disembarkation this morning with the allocated times and waiting areas was much more civilised. No rushing or shoving and somewhere for everyone to sit and wait. I think they've got this embarkation/disembarkation sorted out!

  5. Just wandering if we go up there when there's nothing organised with our 2 year old son will there be a ball for him to play with or are we best to take one with us? Thinking it's somewhere he can let off some steam! Is it floodlit in the evening?

    Thanks

  6. Thanks everyone that's great. I won't bother trying to carry a load of bottles onboard then! I'd not thought about boiling the kettle with it either, that's a fab idea thanks, I'd drink the tap water but want to be super careful it doesn't upset my sons tummy with different water!

  7. Do you get some in fridge on embarkation day?

Also how much is it to replace the bottles? We have a toddler who only drinks water so I want bottled water to fill up his cup for on the go!

Is the tap water safe to drink or is it the same as she. You go abroad and are better sticking to the bottles water?

    Thanks

  8. I've read you can't actually get out of the port in La Rochelle without going on the shuttle and that it takes you to the city centre.

Does anyone know where it drops off in the city centre as I'm doing a self guided tour and would like a start and end point.

  9. Easy to make a ham or cheese soft roll from the breakfast buffet and take it with a piece of fruit; I used to do that when my daughter was small, as I agree young children can get quite fractious ashore if they get hungry mid to late morning. It saved a lot of fussing.

    Thanks that's great!

For the amount we've had to pay for a 2yr old I don't think you could call it being tight to take a ham roll from breakfast! I think his fate will more than cover an extra ham roll a day!!

  10. Don't feel like that. People will come on here saying its penny pinching but just ignore them. Some people waste vast amounts of food. As kevinyork says, people dump unopened packs from the Grab n Go. If you are embarrassed doing it then order room service. Remember and take some sandwich bags.

Thanks! I just want a bit of something to take out for a hungry 2yr old! A cheese sandwich would suffice!

  11. Thanks everyone. As we have a 2yr old I wanted to take a sandwich with us for them to have when they wanted rather than having to find somewhere. I thought you would be able to do this with the grab and go area for port days because if you are on the ship lunch is included but it might not be convenient to get back to the ship. If it was me and DH I'd just get whatever on land but need to plan more with my son. Will take a bread loaf and potted meat on board and make him a sandwich every day instead!

  12. Thanks everyone that's great, we'll go for 2pm ish! Just want to be able to drop everything off and go for a walk round the ship without the buggy! We don't plan on using it on the ship, just need it for shore days, will be so much better to be able to drop everything off when we board! :)

  13. As the title really! We have an embarkation time of 2pm, but other members of our group have 12.30 and p&o have said we can all board together. However, were not sure we want to! We are travelling with a 2yr old so will have a buggy, his day bag, one carry on suitcase and the suit carrier. We want to be able to go straight to the cabin and drop these off otherwise I can see it being a struggle! What time usually are the cabins available as we will plan on embarking to coincide with this!

    Thanks

  14. We were on Azura last month and went to MDR every day with our 2 children (5 and 3) for breakfast. My 3 year old is very fussy, so every day I just ordered him rice crispies and a croissant, while my 5 year old had 2 sausages on white bread to make a sausage sandwich! All the dining staff were great with them. There are lighter breakfast options too like grapefruit (half, or segments) and yogurt and muesli etc. Have a lovely cruise

That's great to know! My son will be quite happy with Rice Krispies! And my husband happy with a sausage sandwich! :)
