  1. I have not been on Princess for over ten years, I have questions in regards to the Elite Happy Hour,   Are the drinks free or discounted and if so how much.  I am considering back to back 15 day Panama canal trip.  I have 42 days in so after the first, I will be Elite.

I remember way back the wifi use to be free when you became Elite, now there is no mention of it.

I hope that someone will clarify the above

    Thank you

    Stan

  2. Sorry, there is no happy hour, except for Diamond members and higher, they have right now 4 free drinks to be use at any time, Diamond plus members have 5 free drinks. To be a Diamond requires sailing at least I believe, 70 days.

I am also a four star on Holland and a Diamond Plus on Royal, I will be cruising starting February 5th on Holland and at the end of the month on Royal.

  3. According to the website a 20 dollar corkage fee is applied per bottle of wine.  Is this just if you bring in the dining room or is it applied when you come on board.

Thinking about bringing a bottle of wine per person on board but not if they apply a corkage fee.

  4. Company Claims New Lightbulb Can Kill Coronavirus

In a recent development, one of the largest lighting companies in the world, Signify, says they have developed a new light bulb they believe can kill 96% of coronavirus in just three seconds.4 The organization partnered with Boston University to test the effectiveness of the lightbulb to inactivate the virus.

Eric Rondolat, CEO, spoke to CNBC, telling the reporter that after six seconds of exposure, the rate of pathogen death goes up to 99%.5 In a press release on Signify's website, Anthony Griffiths, Ph.D., from Boston University School of Medicine is cited:6

"Our test results show that above a specific dose of UV-C radiation, viruses were completely inactivated: in a matter of seconds we could no longer detect any virus. We're very excited about these findings and hope that this will accelerate the development of products that can help limit the spread of COVID-19."

Rondolat believes the light bulbs are a preventive measure that may be useful in all types of public places. The notice from Signify follows research from Columbia University, where researchers found low doses of far-UVC light "inactivated 99.9% of aerosolized alpha coronavirus 229E and beta coronavirus OC43."7

These scientists found that viral inactivation took approximately 25 minutes. They believe that by doubling the intensity, they may be able to cut the disinfection time in half and still maintain safety.

  5. Dear Guest,

Royal Caribbean International has recently been informed that a person who sailed on the Oasis of the Seas on March 8, 2020 has tested positive for COVID-19. Because you were a passenger on this same voyage, it’s possible that you were exposed to someone who was sick with COVID-19.

  6. I am currently on the ship, have been since 1/22. The food in the main dining room leaves a lot to be desired. I just made 4 star in the past the dining room food was better than most lines, now it is bellow most lines and I compare it to Norwegian line.  What happened?

I heard terrible creaking when we were in cabin 4043 (near the front elevators) in 2018. Last year we were in 5189 on deck 5 near the rear elevators and heard nothing. On our upcoming cruise we will be in the same spot on deck 5 but the opposite side of the ship and hope also not to hear anything.  I asked about it on CC last year and others said that they had heard the same thing.

Since you're currently on the ship do you know who the BB Onboard performers are? Thanks.

Last January, I was in cabin 4043, I did not hear any creaking sounds.

Everyone has their own taste, and that helps make the world an interesting place.

It is easy for a cruise ship or restaurant to provide a large assortment of tea - they simply keep an assortment of tea bags available.

But, not so easy to supply a large selection of coffee, since it must be brewed and kept fresh. Most restaurants usually only have the choice of regular or decaf.

So a cruise ship simply brews something that most people will accept. There will always be some who don't like it and others that do.

How come the coffee on Royal Caribbean taste great while Holland's coffee is vile.  Royal have Seattle Best grounds.  I sail frequently on both Holland and Royal.
