  1. It depends on the ship.  I get the premium internet for all our cruises (work pays for it and I work maybe 30 minutes a day).  But I can use it for personal the rest of the time if needed.  I have been able to Facetime on the Magic, Breeze and Vista (Ring app worked great).  Freedom was the worst internet I have ever had, I could not even check email at 2 am!  So the ship really matters along with the plan.  Not sure if the Miracle's internet has been updated or not.

  2. We took our 2 year old on the ship and just showed pictures of our past trips.  He did fine on the cruise, loved it actually, but the kids club was not a hit at all!  We were there maybe a total of 3 hours on the whole trip, but I tell you, he still talks about the "ship" all the time.  We took him at 3 and he was so excited and we are taking him again at 4 and he can not wait, still talks all about the "ship."  Just do what come naturally to you as a parent, relax and enjoy the memories, they might remember more than you think!

  3. We cruised on the Legend out of Tampa a while back. We stayed at the Embassy Suites. Enjoyed the hotel. Were able to easily take the streetcar to Ybor city, that is where we ate. Also able to walk to a Publix for last minute items.

  4. Should not be hard, we had a group of 8 and had no issue getting a taxi in port to take us to Playa Mia. What I was worried about was the taxi back, so we left a little earlier to wait, but we walked out and a taxi (new suburban) was in line and they waved it forward for us, we were in the car heading back in under 5 minutes.

  5. We use ParknCruise 3 times (one more booked this summer) and have loved them. Option for "covered" parking, but you are actually in a building that they close and lock. And it is just across the street from the pier. We have in the past usually just parked and then taken our luggage across, but this year we will drop off the luggage and then park due to a larger party going. Oh and Gig 'em!

  6. We have flown in the day before for some of our cruises. For Carnival we always asked the hotel for a stapler and stapled ours or attached them in plastic tag holders right before we head to the ship. Now on Princess and Alaska, you are given different tags and those we still applied after retrieving our luggage from baggage claim (they had an elastic band). Then we handed the bags over to Princess porters at baggage claim.

  7. In regards to cruisetours, HAL and Princess have been doing it for years and have it down. I would recommend one of them, we have done Princess twice. We did an RT to Seattle and then a 2 week cruisetour starting in Fairbanks and then a southbound cruise. We liked the cruise last so we could relax. I would also recommend the Denali tour through the park that is all day, you see so much more! On the ship (which ever one you choose) evaluate the excursion you want to do and the time frames. I have done both through the ship and used local vendors. I have to say, when you are 20 minutes late to the ship (from our scheduled departure time) and EVERYONE is watching you from their balconies and the gangway is pulled after you get on the ship; I have never been happier to have booked through the cruise line!

  8. Yes, as long as you book a past cruise guest in each room you can get the past guest rate. Then when you are on board just go to guest services and switch and get new cards. Very easy to do. And when checking in on line if they are paying their expenses, you can link your bookings and set them up with their own on board expense account across the two rooms.

  9. I agree, Alaska will be wonderful any way you can see it, BUT if you can do another cruise line and do a land and cruise package I highly recommend it! I have done the inside passage out of Seattle and the land/sea package starting in Fairbanks and ending in Vancouver. Love both trips and say if you can only do the inside passage do it, but if you can do more/longer go with a land/sea package. You will not regret seeing Alaska and her beauty!

  10. Being before 3pm you should be ok, but with that said I would get a traffic app on your phone and check downtown traffic when you pass in to Lewisville. IF downtown is a complete mess (and this is a little of a round about way) take I35 south, once you go under 635 you would merge right on to loop 12 south. Continue south on loop 12 and then merge right to spur 408 south. At that point Loop 12 stops being a highway with no lights. You continue on 408 to I20. On I20 go east. You will then go south on 45 to Houston. Unfortunately your way is the best, but check traffic once you get here. If a freeway is shutdown you now have an alt route!
