  1. Thank you for the spreadsheet. I calculated how much the Bev. Package would cost for one person for 31 days. $1700. approx. WHOA! That is mind boggling.

So if my DH and I both took it---that's $3400. That is the price of a cabin.

I wish Princess would make an exception for such a long cruise and reduce the price of the package. Guess I won't get the Beverage Package.

  2. This will be the longest cruise ever for us. So am definitely thinking soda & water and a $20. bill to deliver it to the cabin. I am also taking pringles and m&ms. We have been experimenting with black box wine. It has a clear bag in it, not mylar. As we are driving to the port of LA we will have lots of room to load up with whatever we want. We may have to leave a suitcase behind coming home, since we are flying from Rio to LA. Obviously drinks and foods will be consumed, so maybe we will try a packing box instead of a suitcase. CC has so many great ideas. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I was wondering if we could get an upgrade to a suite? We have a balcony, and we told TA not to upgrade us. I have gone on ships site, and saw where there were many suites still available. If I ask TA to switch us to upgrade, what is the possibility?

  4. I can't remember if there is anywhere on the ship that I can get some junk food if the need arises. Lets say, potato chips, cheez-its, m&m's. Do they sell this stuff in the store on the ship or can I buy it off the ship and bring it back onboard?

  5. I just loved the photos you have shared. We are booked on the Golden Dec 3 from La to Rio. 31 days. I love all the ideas you provided including eating at different places onboard. I had no idea we would see glaciers like those in Alaska. I am going to make sure the other couple we are going with sees your posts. Thank you for sharing, it makes me feel somewhat less ignorant regarding my cruise.

  6. Hi there-fluffy girl here! Cruise is booked for South America for 31 days. OMG

I have many concerns and fears regarding this cruise. We are in a balcony room on the Golden Princess, and I can make do with the shower. Armless chairs will be the way to go for comfort. Hello Maitre'd. My biggest concern is getting on and off the ship and/or tendering. Steps are not my friend---I really want to see the penguins on the Falklands. I just hope I can get on and off the tender :o Otherwise I am on board for 31 days :(

I am also looking for one of those canes that has a seat on it that supports 350 lbs. I tire out and need to rest for just a bit. I found business class on COPA airlines for 2,000. pp. It is like first class. The flight is a minimum of 18 hours and my poor DH didn't want to be squished. We have purchased the 3rd seat before on Southwest when we flew to east coast. Well worth the money, plus you board first. On COPA we will get treated like first class. Free drinks, food, etc. Cross it off my bucket list.

Thank you for sharing all of your ideas. I really like CC.

  7. Traveling to South America in Dec.-Jan. out of San Pedro on Golden Princess. We are driving to San Pedro. Need a place to stay night before cruise and park the car. We will be flying back from Rio to LAX. Will get a shuttle and stay at the hotel again. Does anyone have some good ideas on how to handle a 2 night stay 31 day parking cruise? Any advice is welcome. Thank you.

  8. We just got back from a 15 day Hawaiian cruise on Star Princess.

Originally I was so excited to have been given this cabin on the ship.

    Pros: only 1 neighbor

Cons: The deck we had was great, but we could only sit outside when we were in port due to the noise of the engine. If the sun was on the deck, it was to bright to sit there. Hardly used the beautiful deck. We were miles away from the middle of the ship or the Princess theater. Way to much walking.

If you get seasick---this cabin is not for you. Since this cabin is AFT, you feel everything. The hangers swing back and forth in the closet, the deck furniture moves, drawers roll in and out. The bed moves back and forth and up and down. Good thing I don't get seasick.

This cabin isn't near anything. I wish I had brought roller skates.

    Never again!
