  1. Are all cocktail prices $12 each or were just the specialty ones listed on a menu at that price and say a Vodka and cranberry less?

I was on the 2 night on the Amthem and can confirm in Boleros bar, not all cocktails are 12.00. Some of the specialty mojitos were 10.50. And Michaels pub too, not all were 12.00 for sure. I remember a lot of 10.00 ish menu prices.

  2. Our cruise included many tours, we almost always did the walking tour of each city.

Our second to last day was Cologne where we did the Limited Edition Brewery tour. First we have a walking tour of the city with a great English speaking guide. Then we went into the Brewery where we were seated and served some traditional German dishes. Plus a beer. It was great. After that we had free time to explore Cologne. The ship was docked very close to town so we could walk back as we wanted. Probably our favorite city of the cruise. The Cathedral was simply amazing. It was also a Saturday so it was very busy.

Our last day was in Amsterdam, where it rained all day. This was the only town where we did not do an AMA tour. They offered a canal tour and a walking tour, plus a bicycle tour. The bikes available on the ship were great. People were using them and doing the tours. If it were warmer I would have used the bikes. But this was our first time and I was afraid of not getting pictures. (and slowing down the group!) However everyone we talked to who used the bikes were very happy with the guides and experience.

  3. King, we did Nuremberg to Amsterdam. The Main and Rhine. Beautiful cruising past many castles. Lots of great German towns and included tours. Could have started in Prague for 2 nights land. Wish we would have come in early everyone onboard who did Prague loved it.

  4. Just off AMA and I can't say enough good things. The staff was excellent. The food was wonderful. The mix of passengers was older to middle aged. There was a young man about 12 traveling with his mum so he got the youngest on board. The Rhine is impressive. I am already planning my next AMA river cruise. We both loved it!!

  5. When we were there about 2 weeks ago, there were a lot of people there. A local bus had come up from Kingston. But it still didn't feel crowded. We all moved around to our own spots.

I would ask your driver to go earlier in the morning. The secret is getting out!

You do pay 10.00 per person to get in. If you have a guide (you need one and your driver should have one waiting for you--ours did) tip the guide as well.

    We used Marvyn's Paradise Tours (marvyngayle@yahoo.com) (http://www.marvynsparadisetours.com/)

His price was great. It was very personalized. I loved every bit of the day.

He will take you wherever you want, he is professional, friendly, and very safe!

If you don't know what you want, just ask him. He knows Jamaica. He can do just 2 people alone (which was awesome) or a group.

We skipped Scotchies since we were eating Jerk Chicken all over Jamaica. Instead we went to Juicie Beef in Ocho. It was delish! Marvyn helped us order, went up and negotiated our prices so we got his "local" price and not the tourist price. We had 4 beef/cheese patties/1 cocobread/3 bottles drinks the total was like under 10.00 USD.

  6. We went to the Blue Hole in July. It is amazing. Go there. We used Marvyn's Paradise Tours. It was just me & my husband. And our driver. He was so great. We felt so safe. He took us to the Blue Hole. Kept all our stuff locked safe in his car while the guide (he got for us) took us around. Then we told him we wanted Jamaican patties so he took us to Juici Beef & shopping before taking us back. He negotiated the prices so we didn't get ripped off. And emailed me all in advance of what to expect and the cost. Best prices around and it was a private tour-no strangers with us. It was the best day of our trip!! Our driver (Marvyn ) was so professional & kind. Great company.

  7. NCl, Breakaway you have to pay to see some of the performances too?? they dont nickel and dime you to death lol! p.s. sushi was free on the splendor.

Hi just off the Splendor, there is plenty of food and a tasting bar, but no sushi.

    Still a great cruise!

  8. We are just off the Splendor, trip of 11/17 out of NYC. We are a married couple, 38 years, early 60s, both limited by disabilities, but still loving life and enjoying others. We are amazed at things we do not see that others say they do. On this trip we DID NOT see drunken 20-30 year olds, anyone seasick, no pajamas, no kids running and shoving, no rude employees, no employees who looked like they hated their jobs. We were all over the ship, did both early and late events, ate in both Lido and Black Pearl; Golden Pearl for breakfast. We did most of the shows, many of the entertainment items during the day. If you are looking for a review bashing the ship or the crew, I will stop you here and save you some time.

Hi we were on this same cruise with you and while no drunkens or seasicks, but I did see lots of pajamas out and about especially on that last sea day. All the Carnival employees were GREAT! And I thought the ship was really clean and nice, not even too pinkish as I heard. I found it pretty! I didn't notice any big chair hogging either. I did notice people who go in the hot tubs and never come out. I mean hours. I don't use the hot tubs, but I thought it was rude to spend so much time in there. When others were waiting to get in. This was at the Adults only aft pool. We only used that pool area. I went to the Serenity on the 2cnd sea day to read and an older couple was sitting up there with a baby! Nice quiet toddler but still............

I did notice then, and on the ship, a few, NOT ALL, people of Asian descent, who moved quickly to the front of any line. I thought this was unusual, until I gave it some thought as to the long generational customs of living in small, fast pace, crowded countries. I actually said something to one person who was "pushy" to my way of thinking. She backed right off and apologized profusely. At that point, I started to watch. Taking off my "American focus" I saw this from their view, and realized it is just a custom.

This happened to me on this sailing as well, NOT ALL but specifically SOME older Asian woman on this sailing, truly I saw it many many times. Cultural or whatever, I found it disheartening. And those in the omelette line or burrito line or even getting food at Tandoor (which was amazingly delish for lunches!) who have one tray with 4 plates on their tray and each plate is getting filled. Or they are ordering 3 omelettes and 2 fried eggs--one person. I do understand maybe someone is back at the table who can't stand easily or wait on line. But it's not always the case and it bugged me on this cruise. I know I can go to the dining room and not have to deal with lines, but I like the buffet for breakfast! Things obviously changed during the week as all food had to handed out by gloved employee at the buffet, so someone was sick somewhere. So of course that slows the line.

But the employees were smiling and those poor employees who work outside at the Tandoor were bundled up, obviously freezing in huge parkas, serving lunch with a smile. I felt terrible for them.

I will be back with more. I hope you are enjoying the review.

I enjoyed your review and the cruise. I have to motivate myself to write one now. We had a great time on this cruise--great balcony on deck 8 towards the back and I found it a perfect location! and we loved Nassau & Freeport!

  9. Hi, I just did a day pass at grand lucyan and it was fabulous! I took the group cab. 10.00 round trip. They give you a little card to turn back in for your ride back to ship and tell you the times they run. Grand Lucayan was fabulous! Beautiful beach very safe. I want to stay there now ! We also ate lunch there in their restaurant Irie's. It was wonderful! I had the cracked conch, it was 12.00 US. Awesome place!

  10. If you want to see a Comedy Show, you should get there early as there was a line for almost every show.

If anyone wants to buy those (Bella Perlina?) bracelets--GO EARLY, you would have thought it was black Friday on my ship.

When eating in the Lido you can always carry your tray up a flight of steps in eat in the Rotisserie. Always empty-plenty of tables. So we could always go in our own lines in the buffet, but we knew we would find each other up in the Rotisserie area at some point, with a table!

You can ask for a double shot in your drink. So your 8.95 drink becomes 13.XX and if its a fruity something adding a little free lemonade to that strong drink makes it last. (Same amount of alcohol for 13.XX instead of paying for 2)

I had a great cruise on the Splendor!!
