  1. Another way to look at this is that many many people (like me!) had an island trip planned and will now shift to a cruise due to all of the damaged islands. I suspect that cruise sales will be up--keep in mind that thousands of people visit St. Maarten/St. Martin every week to stay in hotels (not to mention St. Thomas, St. John, Tortola, Virgin Gorda, San Juan, Dominica etc!). All of those folks, should they still want a trip, will have cruises as one of the good options. We had a week planned in St. Martin in January; the hotel we were going to visit and the house we rented (both on the French side) are both really devastated, so they are closed, and both have cancelled on their own.

  2. We were on the recent Equinox 1-2-2015 cruise; we had three aqua class cabins--two with all elite members and one with "newbies"--my in-laws. Upon check-in, my in-laws were upgraded to a Sky Suite without warning, provocation or request. They assumed (wrongly) that one of us had upgraded them as a gift, and were just worried about whether their bags would make it to their new suite. (They ultimately did). They never got any explanation of the upgrade; our only immediate question was whether they'd continue to be able to eat with us in Blu (they were).

I did gather (based on bags outside their suite) that the people that had booked the suite originally must have been moved, as their bags were originally delivered to my in-laws suite (so, obviously, they arrived for the cruise). So--I assume someone that booked a Sky Suite was upgraded to a better suite, and my in-laws were subsequently upgraded from AQ to SS. The big puzzle to all of us was that they had no status--but someone mentioned earlier in this thread that Celebrity will often upgrade completely new customers so that they get an advance hit at loyalty.

Whatever it is--it was a nice suite, and they were definitely spoiled and enjoyed it! I sure wouldn't have minded it myself, but we were all happy anyway.

  3. Just back from a 10-day Equinox cruise; there were Indian dishes both on the lunch and dinner buffets every day-typically a couple of curries and dal and some kind of bread, along with condiments. Twice at lunch they had Chicken Chettinad, a very nicely spicy dish I love at a restaurant in DC. Most other days I simply tasted from the various choices. I never thought of asking in Blu, but sounds like a nice meal was had!

  4. I just called my friend that was in 6143 on the Millie last week. She confirmed to me that they had 2 chairs, a small table and 2 CUSHIONED lounge chairs on their balcony. The cabin attendant was Lydia (and my friends loved her).

If 6144 does have lounge chairs but no cushions, you could do what I did last week. On the first night after leaving Ft. Lauderdale, I was walking through the pool deck. I calmly took one of the cushions, folded it up, and carried it to my balcony (only one of my lounge chairs had a cushion up until then.) I don't think there was anything wrong with that, but I could be wrong.

My balcony was then nicely suited for napping...:)
