  1. I was just sent this notification regarding my future cruise.. just an FYI

    IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION:

In light of recent national news regarding the Ebola virus, we wish to advise

you that we have adopted new boarding procedures and screenings in conjunction

with the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization

(WHO). We are screening for any guests or crew who have visited or traveled

through countries with Level 3 CDC Travel Health Notices (Liberia, Sierra Leone

and Guinea) within 21 days of a cruise departure date and they will be denied

boarding. We are also monitoring bookings for any guests coming from these

countries. Additionally, we will deny boarding to any guest who has had

physical contact with or helped care for a person suspected of having Ebola or

diagnosed as having Ebola within a minimum of 21 days before embarkation, until

further notice. Holland America Line has robust medical protocols that are

consistent with public health recommendations. We are monitoring the situation

closely, along with our colleagues in the rest of the travel industry. Guests

seeking more information on Ebola can visit the World Health Organization's

website at http://www.who.int; or the CDC site at http://www.cdc.gov.

  2. We have rented the Cabanas just about on every cruise except this one. We have always had good service and excellent food. Once and this only happened once we had gone out for a swim and came back to our Cabana and our Butler was sound asleep in the lounger and the food was on the counter getting cold. We had to wake him up and the rest was downhill after that. Found out he had been partying the night before and only had about an hour sleep before he picked us up. I believe he did get demoted also... I think if you can share the cost it is well worth it but seeing we are traveling alone this time we will sit this one out. ;)

  3. We were hooked and we were in an inside cabin:eek: We were upgraded to a pothole on the Veendam on the next sailing and that was a huge "WOW" factor for us:D Now the only thing we sail in are the Suites (for the right price);)

    Oop's I meant Volendam

  4. Hi just seen a link to your post.

Interesting!! We are cruising for the first time on Crown Princess this Christmas. Do you or anyone else know, if they do a similar package on the Princess ships?

Or how would I find out?

    Cheers.

    Gossy.

Last time I was on Princess they were not. I believe Celebrity is the only one offering this, also Royal Caribbean are trying it out on a few selected ships.

  5. Hi all! We are thinking of getting the premium package for our 7 day cruise, with 3 port stops. Does anyone know how the water bottle service works in the Aqua Class rooms? Can you request 3-4 bottles at one time or do they only bring 2 a day? My wife and I drink a ton of water, but not sure if we would want to run back to the cabin to grab a new one while at the pool etc? Thinking that the premium package might be the way to go despite having the Aqua class room.

Any input from those of you that book an Aqua class room and pay for the premium package would be appreciate.

    Thanks!

We had the AQ class last November on the Equinox and the Premium drink package. Not only did we have to two waters in our cabin, we could get a bottle just about anywhere on board. When we were in port we would grab the 2 from our room then 2 more on our way out. When we got back from port we would grab 2 more on our way in, just in case they had not replenished the 2 in our cabin. Couple of times we took Pellegrino along with us in port or had it by the pool on sea days.

  6. Wow does this bring back memories. It was the Veendam in 1983 on a Western Caribbean Cruise, we had an inside cabin that we though was awesome. We had so much fun, it was more that I ever expected. They had streamers and confetti as we sailed away with a band and lots of dancing on the decks. I think I bought every picture they took and love the horse racing. Our second cruise was on the Noordam and they had upgraded us to an outside cabin with a port hole I thought it was the best. Now I have save and put myself in a Suite Guarntee, see what happens when the upgrade fairies get to you.

Love this thread, thank you for the memories!

  8. We have the turquoise cabana on 24 Nov 06--looking forward to it as well. Just a thought--how about leaving a key chain from your home state--maybe behind the air conditioner. In other words the next person who has the cabana will take the key chain I leave behind and so on.

We have the turquoise cabana right after you, we are in the CABANA on December 2, 2006 so leave something really neat:D
